Bluetintedspecs Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 Perfect result.........now come on boys do your bit!
FoxLAD Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 After watching that. I hope Burnley don't get promoted just for the pure face we can sign Trippier and Ings.
dayday Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 Rumours that Matt Phillips is out for the rest of the season with ligament damage,if true losing key players at this time of the season will really damage them.

When did he get injured? Very late into the game? I left the ground shortly after extra time was announced.

Unabomber Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 This thread was running faster than the match day thread today, incredulous scenes.
Leicesterpool Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 The draw was certainly good result for meant both drop points, you could say now though Burnley's chances of winning this league is now slim! It's exciting to think we're only 14 points from 80points! and we're only in February!

Two points behind last seasons total and only three wins from getting a record amount of wins in a league season for us. Pearson is a true record breaking manager
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 'Arry confirmed Austin out for the season, not very nice for the lad but very good for us.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I still don't get how that could have been the perfect result. There are two automatic promotion spots with three teams still currently vying for them. Whilst I doubt either will catch us, with how we are playing, it would have been better for QPR to have gotten Burnley pretty much out the race. Two into two goes. Three into two don't. Am I missing summat here?

Am I missing summat here? Both need to catch us so you could argue that four points dropped is better than three. Depends how you view the situation really. Are Burnley the 'weak' team or are they both pretty equal? If they're both about the same then a draw was better.

A QPR win would have seen them 6 points clear of Burnley... by definition pretty much away from them.A Burnley loss would have seen them 14 points short of us. By definition, not much chance of catching us. For me its a no-brainer. QPR winning was the best result. Unless the aim is to win the league. THAT I could get. Personally, the aim is going up. Winning the league is just a bonus.

Don't worry mate I'll explain it to you over a pint sometime!
shade Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 every statistical argument aside, my gut tells me that 2nd and 3rd both getting 1 point is way better than one of them getting 3.

Doesn't matter how far they are behind QPR. Is 13 points behind significantly better than 14? Is that not 'by definition' not much chance of catching us too? With both of them having to overtake us to force us out of the top two a net gain of two points for our chasers is perhaps better than three. I don't say that I'm correct with certainty, if QPR are definitely going to overtake us then all our attention has to be on Burnley but since we're still competing with two teams I think it's better that both lose out.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 every statistical argument aside, my gut tells me that 2nd and 3rd both getting 1 point is way better than one of them getting 3. Indeed more pressure on BOTH mind the gap!

Guest Col city fan Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Indeed more pressure on BOTH mind the gap! It doesnt need to be pressure on both. If one of them (QPR) get clear, the others may well give up and be happy with the play offs. What we don't want is TWO sides believing they can still catch us. Thats the danger. Want me to draw you a picture buddy?

dayday Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 With QPR picking up injuries who's to say Burnley or even Forest(tuck some saying)start closing the gap if we have a wobbly
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 People understand what you're saying, they just don't agree with you. IF we start to slip up and BOTH QPR/Burnley don't, you'll agree with me then. However, I believe its all academic. I can't see us losing many.
