Nod.E Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 12/13Cardiff 28 19 3 6 60Leicester 28 15 5 8 50Hull 28 15 5 8 5013/14Leicester 28 20 3 5 63QPR 27 16 7 4 55Burnley 27 14 10 3 52In one respect (points) we're in a better position than Cardiff were at this stage last season. However, this year's competition seem to be keeping touch more than in Cardiff's successful year, especially assuming QPR and Burnley will pick up something from their games in hand. The good news is that we've put ourselves in such a good position that even a fall from grace equalling last year would still put us in contention for an automatic promotion place. After 28 games we only managed 18 points from our remaining 18 games. If we were to repeat that form this year we'd finish the season with 81 points, which last season would have seen us promoted.Touch wood, but I can't see that even being a consideration. I'd be genuinely shocked to see us take such a tumble in form. We simply look too good for that this year. That's not to say we won't have our difficult times, and it's crucial to remember that if we do lose to dust ourselves down and go again.Things are looking very promising at the moment. To say we're on track would be an understatement. Just need to keep producing the goods! Now is a great time to be blue.
lavrentis Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Nige will be our new MON. Big words but I feel it.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 This is bloody fantastic! I thought my Walkers retro shirt that I bought at the start of the winning run was my lucky charm. Turns out it was bollocks as we won after I'd fallen asleep without it on last night (skiing in Bulgaria) I must keep hold of the all-seeing eye charm that I bought off a Bulgarian nut job, it works just as well. Good luck and prosperity, he guaranteed it
shade Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 My worry is that the longer the run goes on, the more likely it is to end.........and i would hate it to end against Watford or forest I disagree with this, isn't it the same as roulette whereby every outcome is independent of what went before? anyone good at stats can confirm this?
Xen Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I disagree with this, isn't it the same as roulette whereby every outcome is independent of what went before? anyone good at stats can confirm this? theoretically you're right - but there's loads of other factors that might affect it in some way. For example, the longer it goes on the more determined other teams will be to end it, and more pressure on us to continue winning and break records.
Libertine Dream Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 If it doesn't end on Saturday and Forest ends up moved then it could keep going for a while cos we'd have 3 home games in a row that way
Simi Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 My worry is that the longer the run goes on, the more likely it is to end.........and i would hate it to end against Watford or forest Yeah, the worst part about continuously winning, is the winning. Shall we lose on Saturday just so it's not even more likely it'll end against Forest?
Captain... Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 If it doesn't end on Saturday and Forest ends up moved then it could keep going for a while cos we'd have 3 home games in a row that way Do we want the Forest game moved? If it is moved we will end up with a 2 match break, turn Feb into a 3 match month, possibly lose momentum and end up having the game rescheduled to March, which becomes an 8 match Month, or April, where it could end up sandwiched between QPR and Reading. Forest have to play 5 games between now and our match, whereas we have 2, should they lose to Preston and we win against Bournemouth and Watford, we will go into the match fresh and full of confidence, they will be tired and demoralised.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I disagree with this, isn't it the same as roulette whereby every outcome is independent of what went before? anyone good at stats can confirm this? I'd argue that football matches aren't independent events - if you've lost four on the bounce it's going to affect the players in the fifth match (unless they're emotionless robots). Same if you've won 8 on the bounce - you could argue that it gives you confidence to improve in the next game, or that it can make you complacent, but either way it can affect how you perform in that 9th match. If I was back at Uni in my probability lectures (the thought fills me with dread) I would be treating football matches as dependant events.
MC Prussian Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I disagree with this, isn't it the same as roulette whereby every outcome is independent of what went before? anyone good at stats can confirm this? theoretically you're right - but there's loads of other factors that might affect it in some way. For example, the longer it goes on the more determined other teams will be to end it, and more pressure on us to continue winning and break records. There's truth in both of your statements. Lady luck plays an important role to some extent, but as Xen already stated, opposing teams will see our current run and get their players all fired up to end it, in addition to their regular season plans (avoiding relegation, maintaining a mid-table position, pushing for a playoff spot or the promotion hopefuls). The task on our side is to maintain the flow of things, keep players motivated, but down to earth, instill a realistic winning mentality and warn against complacency. So, you can prep up to some extent. But what happens on the field is of course an entirely different matter in many ways, with so many variables involved.
C-man Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Yeah, the worst part about continuously winning, is the winning. Shall we lose on Saturday just so it's not even more likely it'll end against Forest? I dunno mate, if we lose on Saturday I'm not sure we will have lost enough games for the losing run to end in time to beat Forest...
allotment-fox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 well done all shame more city fans were prevented from going to see them get the record by a poor back office team at the king power would not trust lcfc ticket team to take my dog for a walk
AndWhat? Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Only 44 more wins till we beat Sparta Prague's record set in 1923. Come on Leicester!!!
Dan Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 If it doesn't end on Saturday and Forest ends up moved then it could keep going for a while cos we'd have 3 home games in a row that way We wouldn't as Forest away will be on the 18th if it needs moving, I'm lead to believe.
woddyuk Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Dont think this Sat is a given. Bournemouth certainly ain't the worst side ive seen this year by some distance. Midfield and forwards we useful at the KP. Defence not so. Want a win but will take a draw down there.. Dont want it to end against Watford or Forest either but dont forget we battered forest at home for most the game and lost 2-0.. If it does end against Watford or Forest then I think there'll be a lot of "GOING UP, STAYING DOWN" & "1 NIL DOWN WHO GIVES A FCYK, Leicester Boys and we're going up" to be sung Would like QPR to beat Burnley and open that gap to third a bit more too..
Bluetintedspecs Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Lets go for number 9 "He'll never make it, too much of a step up for the lad" ..........oh you mean wins COYB
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Only 44 more wins till we beat Sparta Prague's record set in 1923. Come on Leicester!!! Bloody hell a bit to go then . . .
