dayday Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I have that just read the Watford's view on yesterday's game, apparently we are a team of cloggers and a long ball side, yet there is no mention of them rolling around like they were shot,or that it was them who were actually hoofing it all the second half. Always thought they were a strange club ,and that has certainly not changed......possibly more deluded than Forest fans which I thought could never happen.

I think some comments are made just to simply wind people up. A vast majority really know your a decent side who certainly deserve respect etc.

Every club has those fans who are honest and those who aren't. Good luck for the rest of the season. You've always come across as honest and decent on here.

Adster Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 In similar circumstances we'd have done the same. Honestly? You think if were winning 2-0 away we'd revert to 10 behind the ball and looking for any excuse to calm the game down and waste time? I really don't think we would and from what I've seen we haven't when defending a lead.
Bayfox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Have you been first that much? Say Forest and QPR have been more Wtf Are you actually for real? Fword. Give it a rest.
Soar Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Wtf Are you actually for real? Fword. Give it a rest. I think he was referring to being on the football league show first.
Corky Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 More opposition fans crying we are first on FLS . There's a reason we're on first rather than some shite championship fodder like Birmingham. Seriously, who should be on first? I doubt people will want to watch extended highlights of Bolton v Bournemouth.

Benditlikevydra Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Great comeback from your lot yesterday and a deserved point. But I can't understand your (so many of you) surprise that a middle table side, that is trying to regain confidence, with two wins since October and several new players plays to defend a lead against the leaders on a long run of wins, on top form and high on confidence. It is also a regular tactic that teams in a winning position try and slow the game down, break up the flow with some time wasting. It annoys me, but it happens all the time. Some of you seem to know little about football. Pearson himself said that he would have used the same tactics in the same situation when speaking on Radio Leicester. Get real! Furthermore, we weren't unduly defensive anyway, mainly keeping one or two players up, even for many of your corners, whereas Leicester were bringing everyone back to defend corners, even early in the game. As for us diving, I honestly didn't see it happen that often as I think most of the examples happened down the other end, but I accept it happens and again, we sometimes get as annoyed as some of you. But your players also "cheat" (your words). For example, Phillips blatantly dived to win that free kick near the left touch line. All that said, I have nothing but admiration for how Pearson has got your team playing. If I may say so, you have few if any, "stellar players", yet a great team unit that on current form definitely deserves to go up.
WinslowFox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Have to say credit where credit is due Watford came with a game plan and executed it brilliantly, they were always going to sit with 11 men behind the ball and it was always going to be up to us to break them down which we did, with patient, confident football. The goal from Drinkwater was dreamy and the least we deserved, I thought we had nicked it at the end with first James and secondly Nugent, something I didn't pick up on during the game but did on the FLS it appeared to me that Knocky looked in a much better position to finish the chance than Nugent and it looked like he had set himself for a volley. I just wonder whether Nuge didn't hear him/knocky didn't tell him or maybe Nuge's striking instinct took over. However we dominated the 2nd half and the result was never in doubt, it was always going to take time and the only real question was going to be 1 point or all 3. However, I have a few Watford fans and they genuinely feel embarassed by the actions of their players during the course of the game, but said perhaps we should take solace in the fact that they felt they had to resort to such drastic actions to try to see out a win but in the end they got what they deserved by being pegged back.

It was not diving,it was play acting and cheating at its worse...,,if that was Leicester players doing that all the time I would get pretty annoyed.

Well a couple of incidents have been mentioned on our own forum, that of Tozser rolling around near the centre circle, and Exstrand down near the corner flag. If true, and I suspect they are, then it isn't something we are proud of. But I think any attempt to fool the ref is cheating, and that includes diving to win a free kick.

I don't think people were surprised by Watford's tactics, they were annoyed that it worked so well for so long. Plenty of posters on here have outed themselves as admirers of Sannino's choice(s) yesterday, calling it well-executed. If at all, the only sour aftertaste was the amount of players in yellow to get lost in silly playacting and pretense. This can work against teams that usually don't respond well to being behind (at home in particular) and teams that can be easily provoked. Unfortunately, you were up against a club with one of the best disciplinary records in the league and I'm pleased none of our boys really fell for your players' attempts at causing a ruckus or forcing yellow or red cards.

You follow Watford,so you would know if this happens all the time,if it does ,you as fans should get on to the club and tell them how much you disapprove......there is no place for that crap these days.

Ironically, if it wasn't for all the timewasting from Almunia and play acting from half of Watford, there would have been 3 minutes added on and not 5 and you'd have won the game 2-1
Number 6 Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Tough game. Think we can expect more teams to set up similarly in future weeks. I did think some of the performances were poor in the first half (De Laet for second goal and is Konch colour blind or something? Hardly ever finds a blue shirt). Watford were solid at the back and dangerous on the counter. Fair play to the team for sticking with it when faced with a phalanx of Watford players in the box, we almost even nicked it. How many times have we seen that kind of set up cause us problems at home? For me the solution has to be to get on the front foot. For the first 10 mins we have to absolutely bombard their goal. Go 1-0 up and the game changes completely and the tactics go out of the window. This team has been very good at being patient when required but there are going to be games like this where I feel the first goal is absolutely crucial. It would have been nice to take the winning run to Forest but I wonder if this now takes a bit of pressure off. The run isn't there now. I think it also gives Pearson a great chance to have a change up of the team with maybe Moore being back.and Dyer slightly out of form. Also though Wood looked alright when he came of if we fancy mixing up the front two.
lavrentis Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Sat in West Stand and wasn't expecting great atmosphere but was shocked how bad it was. Shameful really tbh
