Tom17LCFC Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Haha I just remembered, did anyone see Knockaert after Drinkwater's goal? Walking over to the Watford fans tryna wind 'em up.
GingerrrFox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 That miss from Nugent hurts even more watching it back on the FLS.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 That miss from Nugent hurts even more watching it back on the FLS. Really? To be fair to him he had his back to goal and was trying to turn and shoot in one movement. That's unbelievably difficult. I was more concerned about Matty James' decision to try and slide the ball to the back post instead of shoot when he was clean through. Great goal in the first half from him but the cross wasn't on unless he make it sit up for Mahrez.

Manwell Pablo Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Credit Watford. Not easy to come to our place and get something and both goals were well worked and they had more sights of goal than most visiting teams I've seen, hardly vintage from us but never mind, despite the ramblings of some (Alan Young included) this is far from over and isn't going to be easy and if staff players and fans take that on board that'll be worth a lot more to our season than the point we've taken today.
Danno Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 More opposition fans crying we are first on FLS . There's a reason we're on first rather than some shite championship fodder like Birmingham.

Watching it back it made me think, "Shit if that went in we would be 13 points clear". Just hurts in a weird way.
nlukka Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Just got in after the game and had the most thoroughly unpleasant experience of meeting four absolutely cretinous Watford fans in a bar this evening. In spite of how we lost the game last season, I've never felt any hatred to Watford as a club; I always saw it as one of those things that epitomises being a City fan. Anyway, the four men that I spoke to genuinely felt that beating us in the playoffs was their best ever football experience, even though I pointed out that not only did they lose the final and subsequently lost their manager, and plummet this season, but that we've come back stronger this season than they have. One of them actually said they'd rather be where they are in the table and have 'that moment' from last season than to be top of the league where we are and potentially play Premiership football next season. He even went on to say that Watford would be promoted over City this season. Worst of all, he wasn't even on the wind-up, he genuinely did believe every bit of drivel that came out of his mouth. I don't really feel hate towards any other club but after spending 10 minutes with those Watford fans I honestly do wish them and their club a lifetime's worth of misery and pain. On to the game itself, I'm delighted to take a point after being 2 down. I thought we were lacklustre for large parts of the game and made numerous unforced errors in possession. BUT, it's the sign of a strong team that we came back from 2 down to take a point. Even though our winning run has come to an end, I'm sure that last-minute equaliser will feel every bit as good as win to the players - for their effort and perseverance alone a point was deserved today. Onwards and upwards as far as I'm concerned - I can't wait until we don't have to play Watford again next season! (Fingers very, very tightly crossed).
Tom's Pasta Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 We've played a lot worse this season and won, so I have no real worries about the performance. This league is still tough every single week so I expect us to drop points even when we play fairly well. Watford were better than what their position suggests and also I'm sure they wouldn't have sat back against many other teams like they did today. Overall, decent performance and a deserved point
Dan Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Highlights made us look awful. I think a draw was about fair. The first half was easily our worst half at home this season.
Dan Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 More opposition fans crying we are first on FLS . There's a reason we're on first rather than some shite championship fodder like Birmingham. It's so embarrassing. Being top really does highlight the pathetic bitterness a lot of fans actually have.
Harry - LCFC Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Today was very poor. I'm convinced a lot of those players were on the piss last night, some just did not turn up at all and there was some real laziness out there. Today we played like a team who thought they were already promoted, a team that thought it only had to turn up to win. You cannot afford to have that attitude in the Championship, if you're not at the best, you could be in trouble. The worst of the lot I thought was Drinkwater. Looked like he was on some sort of drugs. His worst performance all season by some stretch. But then he grabs a superb leveller right at the end which could be vital. Morgan was bullied by Deeney, our defence in general was a bit sloppy and did not cut out the long balls quickly enough - we had a tendency to let the ball bounce and not make it ours and that led to the second goal. Having grabbed a point from what looked to be a losing battle I was pretty happy, but ended up leaving a bit pissed off and Nugent missed his second sitter from about 4 yards. WTF was he playing at. He has been so frustrating this season for a man with so many goals (ahem penalties ahem). Dyer was anonymous, Knockaert got worse as the game went on and De Laet was mainly lacklustre apart from the odd burst forward in the second half. I'm not quite sure why Pearson left the subs so late or why he took Vardy off instead of Nugent. It's so obvious that Vardy is much more vital and effective in open play; he shows for the ball, he chases things down to make something from nothing - these are things that Nugent doesn't really do. It's certainly not panic stations yet but I do think we need to be stepping the performances back up soon. We have 11 days to prepare for the Forest match and a similar display to today won't be acceptable. As it is though, it could easily just be an off day, and one we still got a point from. It's just a shame we have to wait so long until the next match. I think you've exaggerated massively there. A home draw, deserved IMO, against a mid table side who played well on the day isn't deserving of quite that sort of criticism.
aussie-fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 sorry if any points are repeated but this is my opinion on the match We played good passing football, and although watford had a few chances to score i thought we were the better team. We played like a top team and looked effective on the ball. If we play like that every game for the rest of the season we wont have problem at all about promotion. We are not going to win every game for the rest of the season, we may even lose a few but what people have to realize is that if we keep playing like that and with the confidence the team has at the moment we are going to win more then we draw and draw more then we lose. Keep the faith and don't get worried if we start drawing the odd game. we are playing as well as we have for 10 years and we are in a very good position to get back to where we belong!
formidable1 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Haven't read everything, so may already have been mentioned but the wind was a bit of a leveller yesterday and wasn't conducive to smart, flowing football. Having said that, a few more 25 yard efforts throughout the game may have spiced things up a bit for both sides. To be fair, sides that play with 10 men behind the ball is going to be something that we are going to have to get used to. It's a perfectly fair way of playing, if somewhat tawdry to watch. We are there to be shot at and teams will do what they can to nullify our game and prevent our normal fast, fluid football. It is to be expected that teams will raise their game that extra 15% against the league leaders, we just need to know that we have something up our sleeve to combat that. My only real criticism yesterday was that the subs were 10-15 minutes too late. At 60 mins, I was looking at the bench hoping to see Woods showing the fourth official his studs and ring fingers! What needs to happen now, is that we have 2 teams available for each game, we need the normal set up starting and seeing how we get on for the first 60 minutes. If we are enjoying our normal cavalier style and have goals behind us, then see the game out with the normal late doors like for like subs. However if after 60 minutes, we are in a spot of bother like yesterday, then the " longball " team needs to come on, the team that can win the ball and hoof it up to Woods, who in turn will lay it off nicely to Phillips or Vardy. Whilst yesterday wasn't our best showing, it did show that we were not prepared to give in and that will go along way to securing a top 2 spot later this year. I also think that yesterday's performance will get the "Monkey off the back" with regards MOTM award etc, 10 wins would be great but a draw when we were not at our decisive best is a nice step forward. I have said in the past that LCFC are a situation team, i.e MOTM curse etc. Last year, yesterdays game would have been lost long before kick off, this year they are a completely different beast. That said, I did have them for a draw yesterday and I suppose really, deep down, lots of others did. Another note. It is good to see that they keep up the possession stats even when not at their best.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Kitchandro comes across with a lot of hate for life sometimes but I tend to agree with his points. I'd not go as far as saying we were lazy but lacklustre is perhaps a too kind a description as well. Sure we did very well to win a point but it was like watching the city of a couple of seasons ago- We realised we were in danger of losing so only started really trying for the last 10mins. We seemed to lose possession in the centre of the park all too often in the first half. 50/50 balls were 90% of the time won by Watford. There didn't seem the willingness from De Laet to get forward as he does so frequently and brilliantly. In fact I'd say the only player who you could tell wanted it in the first 45 was Vardy. I know things don't always click in a match but I also see and agree with Kitchandro in that at many times in the opening 80mins we seemed far too pedestrian. Maybe today was a day where the fans were needed to kick them into gear. We can't afford to be like that as our home fans are notoriously shit at getting behind the boys at 0-0 in a match (looking at the table) we should he winning easily.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 The amount of litter on the pitch yesterday was ridiculous. Now I know it's the wind that drags it onto the pitch, but are people so lazy/socially irresponsible that they can't find a bin? Just because you've paid for a ticket to go somewhere doesn't mean you can leave the place a complete tip.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Do people really think we were poor today? Got sucker punched by two goals but that was it. Thought we controlled the game and always looked a danger. Just needed to be more clinical. Not a bad result and 1 point closer to promotion This hits the nail on the head perfectly. I get amazed that people can't separate result from performance. To say we were poor yesterday is simply not true. Watford didn't get in our half second half!

Whilst itwas a bit unsightly perhaps, 50 bags (at the most) from 23k fans isn't that bad
Matt Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Brilliant. The run of win's is over but atleast we've kept the unbeaten run going, and what a strike Watford are the dirtiest, most time wasting and cheating team I think i've ever seen, they just parked the bus after both goals really and we struggled to break them down. That last minute goal from Drinky was amazing though, best way to get a draw! I went out last night and not read anything on here yet so don't know if anyone has mentioned this but does yesterdays game remind anyone a MK Dons away in our League One season, Max Gradel free kick in the last minute? Superb.

Agree with this point, the players have given us 9 great wins,if we can't get behind them after that then there's no hope.Unless the vast majority don't mind a sitting in silence.

Well, that's the fans' expectations (or rather, your personal opinion). League position says nothing in this division. You cannot go to a match and think your team will batter the opposition just because they're positioned somewhere in mid-table. All participants in this league have something to fight for and for a team like Watford, playing against the No.1 club in the Championship adds another extra layer of spicy-ness, not only due to the happenings last May. So, take off your slightly elevated position, come back down to your senses and realize that nothing comes easy in this football tier. In particular, when you start basing your arguments on league positions.

Still, I wonder what you saw yesterday? I witnessed a lot of long balls into the Watford box, especially towards the end of the game. There it was, the thing you claim we were lacking. Judging by your observations, one could come to the conclusion that we're currently on a terrible run or positioned somewhere in mid- to lower-table. We've completed 30 games out of 46 and I would say the team has adapted quite well so far.
Callabinho Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 It proved something, you can park the bus, but it won't help we will find a way through. Stuff of champions.
Foxhateram Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 De leat losing the ball for the second was sloppy! Frustrating to see that sort of mistake. Overall the performance seemed ok, but too sloppy goals to concede really. One thing that does worry me is that against pacey defenders we seemed to lack cutting edge. This could be our downfall if/ when we go up. The new guy looks great though and Phillips showed some touches of class towards the end and was unlucky not to get a goal. Watched the highlights and counted 2 offsides that Lino missed for Watford opportunities bit annoying that!
