turkish14 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Today was very poor. I'm convinced a lot of those players were on the piss last night, some just did not turn up at all and there was some real laziness out there. Today we played like a team who thought they were already promoted, a team that thought it only had to turn up to win. You cannot afford to have that attitude in the Championship, if you're not at the best, you could be in trouble. The worst of the lot I thought was Drinkwater. Looked like he was on some sort of drugs. His worst performance all season by some stretch. But then he grabs a superb leveller right at the end which could be vital. Morgan was bullied by Deeney, our defence in general was a bit sloppy and did not cut out the long balls quickly enough - we had a tendency to let the ball bounce and not make it ours and that led to the second goal. Having grabbed a point from what looked to be a losing battle I was pretty happy, but ended up leaving a bit pissed off and Nugent missed his second sitter from about 4 yards. WTF was he playing at. He has been so frustrating this season for a man with so many goals (ahem penalties ahem). Dyer was anonymous, Knockaert got worse as the game went on and De Laet was mainly lacklustre apart from the odd burst forward in the second half. I'm not quite sure why Pearson left the subs so late or why he took Vardy off instead of Nugent. It's so obvious that Vardy is much more vital and effective in open play; he shows for the ball, he chases things down to make something from nothing - these are things that Nugent doesn't really do. It's certainly not panic stations yet but I do think we need to be stepping the performances back up soon. We have 11 days to prepare for the Forest match and a similar display to today won't be acceptable. As it is though, it could easily just be an off day, and one we still got a point from. It's just a shame we have to wait so long until the next match. Scrappy, frustrating and poor yes.... Lazy? Have to disagree thought the players worked their socks off, and never gave in.

Happy Fox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 That goal was a beauty! , shame it wasn't the winning goal but a remarkable City effort to get a draw.
Raj Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Dont know why your all moaning about watford play acting time wasting etc...they set out to do a job on us and were minutes away from it. Its Upto us to break teams like that and we normally struggle. All them antics will be normal behaviour IF we get into the premierleague
Kitchandro Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Scrappy, frustrating and poor yes.... Lazy? Have to disagree thought the players worked their socks off, and never gave in. In the first half they were lazy as fvck. Second to everything, jumping out of tackles, not tracking runners or busting a gut to win the ball when they'd given it away. People only tend to remember second halves after the manager has given them a bollocking.
Kitchandro Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Agree. Funny how spoilt fans can become.... I've been watching us for years play like wankers cheers. Unless you hadn't noticed seasons like this have been a rarity. And as such I know what a lack of effort looks like, and I know what it looks like in comparison to what we've been doing for most of the season.

And as such I know what a lack of effort looks like, and I know what it looks like in comparison to what we've been doing for most of the season. So have I. I'm 31. How you can suggest a lack of effort when we kept going in windy conditions, against a team who had no goal but to defend (that's their right, they had a good game plan) and managed to get a 93rd minute equaliser is unbelievable. I thought we showed FANTASTIC endeavour, effort, team spirit and resilience.

And as such I know what a lack of effort looks like, and I know what it looks like in comparison to what we've been doing for most of the season. But there was no lack of effort today. Surely if you've been watching football for years you will know hard and frustrating it is to break down a team whose sole intention is to defend.

Didn't see a lack of effort - and I've been watching us for years too, nearly 50 infact. This side give 100%, they're not always effective, but to you can't fault their endeavour and never say die attitude. Best team since the O'Neill days and a team that I feel will develop into a better team.
Mark_from_USA Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Watched this live over here. Entertaining enough game compared to some Championship games I've seen. At least there was some quality on display. The equalizer at the end was stunning. I think City made a few too many errors (gave away possession too easily, not clearing) and Watford took their few chances well. Overall Leicester's passing football was attractive enough and their tactics of attacking from the wings with crosses was succeeding at the end. It felt like the time went by too fast and it took City too long to solve the puzzle of breaking them down. The 'injuries' were a bit comical, but I suppose that's why 5 minutes were added, which proved enough for a point.
Dan Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Really? We live for that kind of feelings, from despair to joy... It feels like a win. THAT stampede in L1! Nah I went ballistic at the goal but I don't know, I don't feel overly happy now. If Nugent's had have gone in however...
leicesterisme Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Scrappy, frustrating and poor yes.... Lazy? Have to disagree thought the players worked their socks off, and never gave in. Agreed, don't think you can ever accuse this side of being lazy.
Happy Fox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Shitty Ground next up should be a cracking game, the Redshite won't put men behind the ball if they do then GTF time is needed.
MC Prussian Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 "2-0 and we fook it up" should be Watfords new club song....Given the fact that the first goal was an offside one, they can count themselves lucky they didn't lose in the end.

All them antics will be normal behaviour IF we get into the premierleague Come off it Raj if they'd not been on their arses like their knees had been shot at the end they should have won it. Cant see too much of this in the PL if we do it, remember were the "big boys" in this league, we're not going to be so dangerous in the PL!
Father Ted Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Come off it Raj if they'd not been on their arses like their knees had been shot at the end they should have won it. Cant see too much of this in the PL if we do it, remember were the "big boys" in this league, we're not going to be so dangerous in the PL! Teams in the PL won't park the bus though! We've destroyed every side this season who has come to attack us.
Kitchandro Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 But there was no lack of effort today. Surely if you've been watching football for years you will know hard and frustrating it is to break down a team whose sole intention is to defend. But of course there was. There was a severe lack of it in the first half. It's not about breaking the other team down, I'm talking about the basics here.
Kitchandro Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Agreed, don't think you can ever accuse this side of being lazy. Except on a day where they are. It seems that it's not me being 'spoilt' by our performances this season, it's that other people are being blinded by them. Just because they've been doing certain things all season does not mean they were doing them today. I'm not talking about all the other games, I'm talking about today.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 But of course there was. There was a severe lack of it in the first half. It's not about breaking the other team down, I'm talking about the basics here. There really wasn't. The conditions were an absolute nightmare throughout. I would agree with you to the extent that I thought DD and Dyer looked half asleep but I think that's different to not putting the effort in. I just thought they didn't look sharp. Watford defended well.

Best team since the O'Neill days and a team that I feel will develop into a better team. Blinkered. What's fair is fair, they stepped it up in the second half but there's no way the first half was a 100% committed performance. I think you need to just let this one go.
kyleolly Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Took my 2 and a half year old son to his first game today he loved it the pride and emotion I experienced today was immense especially celebrating the equaliser with him and everyone around us
MGLCFC Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Blinkered. What's fair is fair, they stepped it up in the second half but there's no way the first half was a 100% committed performance. I think you need to just let this one go. Perhaps it's you who ought to let it go - why are you right and other wrong?
Kitchandro Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 There really wasn't. The conditions were an absolute nightmare throughout. I would agree with you to the extent that I thought DD and Dyer looked half asleep but I think that's different to not putting the effort in. I just thought they didn't look sharp. Watford defended well. What on earth are you talking about conditions for? I'm talking about the basics. You know - running, tracking back, getting in tackles and not jumping out of tackles etc. I try to be fair to our team, playing shit is one thing, Watford defending well is another. But when I think there is a certain attitude in a particular game I will say so. There was certainly an aura of 'we've got the league sewn up' in the first half. I should think Pearson noticed it and I'm sure he was upset at half time.
Kitchandro Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Perhaps it's you who ought to let it go - why are you right and other wrong? Because I have no reason to accuse them of a lack of effort unless it's true. Other people often use their bias to defend the team, especially when it's doing really well. If we're honest we all know the players didn't do themselves justice in the first half.
