Would you swap Vardy for McCormack

Obviously this is completely hypothetical.

My friend is a Leeds fan an last night he was giving the biggun about having the best player in the championship. I told him that I would not swap Vardy for McCormack and that Vardy offers more in all round play.

Everyone else with us mocked me and said it was ridiculous that I wouldn't take that swap... What do people think? Do I have rose tinted glasses on or is Vardy really as important as I think he is?

Why fix something that isnt broken?

Ross McCormack's overall career goalscoring record is hardly earth shattering. Last season he scored 5. All season. We wouldnt be having this conversation back then.

Completely agree with you. McCormack looks good because he's bagging a lot in an average side.

This.

Even in his time at Cardiff it wasn't when they had their best squad.

Well you ask any leeds fan they'll prefer McCormack because of the great goal scoring form

Ask any Leicester fan they see what vardy brings to the team so prefer vardy

Ask any neutral then they don't watch either side because theyre in the championship so preferring a striker that doesn't score as many goals seems absolutely mental

Unless any of the others around you were Leicester fans then you didn't expect any other reaction surely?

People are absolutely blinded by stats and it's the vast majority as well. I've not seen enough of McCormack but it's laughable how people automatically think number of goals scored constitutes how good a player is.

Nugent yes, Vardy no. McCormack may score more, but Vardy is both scoring and also creating a load with his runs and winning the penalties. In terms of all-round play I don't think there's a better striker in the division at the moment.

Yes. McCormack is a much better finisher than Vardy and he can do something out of nothing. Ideally you'd want both of them in our team thought.

This, he's the top goal-scorer in the championship, you don't get there without talent. He is also a team player, he was near the top of the assist charts last season. The fact that he is doing this for an average team is all the more impressive as he has to create alot for himself.

A McCormack-Vardy strike partnership would be lethal at any level.

It'd probably be Nugent who'd find it difficult to hold down a place if McCormack came in due to the similarity in style.

They play different roles up front. McCormack has been more of a finisher this year, most of his job is to get into goalscoring positions and bang em in. Vardy is more based around causing trouble for defences by running at them, setting up opportunities for others and chipping in with a few goals on top. McCormack for Vardy no. Nugent? Maybe.

Why are we even debating this? We are top of the league and 7 points clear! It's a real slap in the face to our players when people start saying stuff like 'I'd swap him for Nugent' or 'what a great line-up Vardy and McCormack would make'. For once just be happy with the players we have got.
