First Meeting of Union FS and LCFC

As did The Fosse Boys.

I think we all want this to be a success but some are coming over as a bit evangelical about it, that's why I would prefer only Union FS to post.

Maybe it would be a good idea to let union FS have a locked thread only they can post in. If people want to discuss it they can do so in separate threads but this would allow a distinction between official union FS and fan talk.

Whilst I have no problem with the whole idea and concept and respect what ufs are trying to do and fact they have picked the corner part of sk1 which has next to no season ticket holders.

And for those concerned about getting tickets on a game by game basis I think you will still have plenty of chance there will be seats either side of the block and further round in sk1. Afterall in the last 3 or 4 seasons I think I have only seen sk1 sell out for man city, forest and Scunthorpe.

I can see that the perception of this idea has quickly changed and whilst I personally wouldn't want to piss on the parade there seems to be a lot of unofficial spokes people for the group on here most not helping the cause.

and whilst I also can understand the reasons for approaching the club it seems there are many similar perceptions that dogged the fosse boys.

Like it or not many people see the club involvement as a negative. It makes it seem stage managed. A similar problem to the fb again.

Whilst we all admire the atmosphere on the continent I think in this country we still feel that atmosphere should be organic and not choreographed.

I hope the idea takes off as it would be great to have a group backing the team for 90mins again like under o'neill as the next season maybe a difficult one.

Don't think anyone is trying to be an unofficial spokesperson,I see a few fans that are desperate for this to happen. There might be a few things said along the way which perhaps shouldn't have been posted. But this is a discussion forum and shit happens.I think when people say negative stuff about all this it might wind a few people up,cause many see this as such a simple thing and not rocket sceince.

This is kind of the basis of my original argument/opinion/whatever you want to call it.

If I had of realised how "sensitive" some on here are, I would have used slightly more polite ways of expressing myself.

Anyway. That's not important. The important thing is people are trying to do something good (read back, I never disagreed with that)

However there are aspects of it's method and execution that potentially could create segregation and a "we're better than you" style thing going on.

That was my point, call me a d1ckhead all you like!

Starting afresh, what parts if it do you think will create the elitist atmosphere?

Being realistic, of course a project like this is going to attract elitist people.  A suspicion confirmed early doors when resident superiority complex representative Cityfanlee jumped ever so predictably into the "hardcore fan" chat which we've had too much of on here in the past few years(it's subsided a fair bit lately but I'll be pleasantly shocked if we don't see that sentiment grow in popularity again next year).

Blueonyou needs to realise that this doesn't mean that all members will be unnecessary elitists, and everyone else needs to realise that acknowledging that this kind of person will be attracted isn't a slur on the organisation or what it aims to achieve.

No I'm very clearly not saying that. A good attempt, but if you try reading my post again you might just spot where I specifically say the opposite of what you claim.  I'm not going to highlight it for you because working it out for yourself is the best way to learn.

right.........

First things first:

Now, we can at least agree that you think it's acceptable to call someone a dickhead for disagreeing with you, so I'm going to assume you also think it's alright to call someone a dickhead when they selectively read your comment looking for something to pick an argument with.

You're a dickhead.

And since apparently you are too dumb to spot it I'll have to highlight it for you after all. In big letters so you can't selectively miss it. You might find the bit after it crucially useful too.

So your point is that they are being elitist and to combat this they should prohibit free speech by only have an official spokesman? Fvcking Nazis. lol

10 points for highlighting your own contradiction in your post.

Calling someone a dickhead has been mentioned by about 3 separate posters now! lol crime of the century or what!

Please everyone look back at the guys post who I called a dickhead, he was being a dickhead!! lol lol

It's not a contradiction.  Saying it's bound to attract the elitist "I'm a better fan than you" twats is very different to saying it will only attract said twats. This is basic stuff, man, get it together. All my post is saying is that blueonyou had a point but about it attracting elitists but that he was wrong to say that it means UFS are all elitists.  I though that was pretty plain but it seems I was mistaken.

We just wanna sing and have some sort of atmosphere. The stadiums been slowly dying for years.Anyone who is against what we're trying to do don't worry you have your silent section.

No one is against it or worried. Your mocking tone isn't helping the great work that others have and still are puttung in. You are causing more harm than good.

That's 10 minutes of my life I will never get back.

Some embarrassing posts in here, anyone that has issue with what Union FS is doing, why don't you join and provide feedback in a more suitable way? There is no perfect way of doing what they are, but officially they make all the right noises. Saying that members talking rubbish makes them look bad must mean our football club looks awful because we have far too many fans who talk rubbish on here!

What's the need for the patronisation?

The Kop should sing again like it always used to, it´s our tradition.

I bought SK1 tickets for the Reading boxing day game on my visit to the UK this xmas and was dissapointed with the complete lack of singing there, L1 on the other hand rocked !!!! I couldn't believe it ... so good luck to the SK1 group, stop bickering about BS ahere nd let´s hear the KP rock from all sides !

Everyone who´s a fan should support their fellow fan, else you are not a fan !

wow... WOW!!

A group of LCFC fans get together and decide to try and improve atmosphere and have a good time supporting their club, they try to do it in a friendly open way and try to include others.

How did it become a whiny bitch fest?

I wish i was there, i wish i could hear them singing, and even be a part of it.. but if you dont want to....umm...then dont.

Sit where you want

Stand where you want

Sing what you want

or dont go at all

Just stop moaning.

Just like to say that in no way do I speak for UFS.I don't believe my last comment would stop anyone coming over or do the cause any harm. But I guess in this cotton wool society maybe I should just stick to positive stuff, which I still beloved most of my comments are.

I moved over to the section just after Christmas.Had been getting disillusioned with it all for the past few seasons. And at one stage this season was basically ready to pack it in,Prem or not.Anyway the 1st game over there were about 10 or 15 singers, but left the game on such a high. All the dozens of games my missis had to put up with me moaning after wins must of done her head in.That stopped on that game. And since then then it's got better and better. The people up there are great there's no attitude at all, just a proper laugh, and no way an elitist club.If it comes across that way then I suggest trying us out before the end of the season, you'll soon see it isn't.

Anyway no more posts from me, really hope this is a success.

Thank fvck for someone posting with a bit of common sense. This thread is supposed to be about the first meeting of Union FS and the club, and about progress on ways to improve the atmosphere at the KP. It's not supposed to be a p!ssing contest about what does or does not constitute a "real" fan - there's more than enough of that on FT as it is.

I like the thought of union fs and that there trying to get people together to raise the atmosphere. I was all for joining up and re-locating.

But imo some people on here have let themselves down. People on here are making valid, maybe a touch negative, comments and are being ridiculed and calles names for it. Wouldnt it be better just to have a debate and try and prove these people wrong rather than swearing at them?

Just my opinion.

I'm in the Kop..and think what UFS have done so far has been great as far as I've heard and read.

The atmosphere is 100% times better and has encouraged a lot of people to join in.

I doubt we will ever have a wall of noise most of us want..but it's a good start.

I've never understood people saying you can't hear the Kop from L1..as I've had a seat in various blocks and can hear other blocks fine.

True..the Kop hasn't been as loud as L1 and I hope it doesn't turn into a P'ing contest.I hope the noise will spread from L1 to the Kop..family and N block too.

I also like the fact they are working with the club which has got to be a good thing.

The membership part I don't quite get..I gather it's to do with self policing?..so if someone is up to no good you can identify which member it is..what about non members?..I may be completely wrong and would be happy to be enlightened.

Also..are members told of what is acceptable..behaviour..flairs..or are they just trusted to not be "nawty"?

What will the self policing involve..informing a steward..a quick word..or a stun gun..a plastic bag and a pig farm?

I am debating moving there next season but not as a member.

On the "elitist" point..I think that will only happen when people start referring to any block as "our" block that "we" sing in..or THE block to sing in..let's just let the noise spread.

I'm sure I've read that you all meet up pre match..which boozer?

..UFS should sing my Mahrez chant also..yes they should.

Ooooh Leicester we love you.

I think the idea of membership was to allay fears that the club had about trouble makers infiltrating the group. If they have email addresses and names it ensures a degree of organisation which wil make the idea of holding a section for Union FS more appealing for the club. Plus if people buy into it hopefully they will be aware of the results of bad behaviour not only for themselves but for Union FS and be more respectful. As for policing on match days I don't think it will be any different and will be handled as normal by the stewards.

While it's great that the club are in communication with Union FS I think we have to realise they will have concerns about how this could go so therefore it is important that they show the club that they are serious about not only improving the atmosphere but doing it in an acceptable, respectful and organised way. By putting these measures in it shows the club they are serious on both parts and are an organised group with everyone's best interest at heart and not just some gobby fans who want to stand and sing and **** anyone who doesn't like it.

This is absolutely spot on, the people who look after match day safety need some reassurance when a group is suggested and quite rightly require some safeguards. They wanted exactly the same with the Fosse Boys but as is well documented some members of that group weren't ready for that level of club involvement. UFS appear to be far more receptive and mature in their outlook.

One other point about the block only being open to season ticket holders, this won't happen as some people can't attend every game so some seats will be available on an ad hoc basis to allow them and new members to attend or it simply wouldn't work. I know this will be available as it was offered to the Fosse Boys for that reason.

Correct, some seats in the UFS block will be left un sold for non season ticket holders.

Being negative about this is completely ridiculous. I only get to a couple of matches a year and in any case I am an old fart: but if I was younger and went regularly, I'd love to be with a crowd of like-minded fans who sing all the time. And even when I get to games, it will be great to have that kind of atmosphere building up.

Seems to me that the whole Union FS thing, and the attitude of the club itself, is fantastic: mature and positive attitudes all round reflect well on LCFC and the real fans, and can only be good for the future.

Well done you lot.

I completely agree...

It sounds well organised.. there's a good start.

This thread has become a bit of a bitchfest. For fooks sake, some really need to grow up.

Yes we have a concept.Go to game sing and have a good time, then go home.Simple really,we're not invading Poland.

Nothing more to add really......

Except one final thing.

I belong to an elitist group, it's called........

Leicester City Football Club.

Till i die.
