Will we break our transfer record in the summer?

I'd 100% have Ross McCormack on the shopping list. Think he'd slot nicely into the team and ready to make the step up. For me he's a more dynamic version of Nuge. Got a good attitude also which is no doubt a characteristic that Sir Nige will want

Exactly! Also, if you look at Hull, they were doing ok before Jan but after signing Jelavic and Long, they've looked a lot better, we will have to sign 2 good strikers in the summer. I'm not sure about Nugent next season but Vardy will be able to bag a few, however he misses a lot of chances too and you can get away with that in the Championship somewhat but we need to be more clinical in the Premiership.

5 or 6 players is enough to distrust the team

If we want to stay up and compete we NEED 5 or 6 quality signings.

Mate of mine is a Leeds fan and is absolutely adamant that McCormack is on his way to us if we're promoted.

My Uncle is a Leeds fan and keeps saying the same. It may be just speculation as to coming to us but they all seem pretty certain he's leaving.

If we go up and our transfer policy is just "sign players that were okay in the Championship this year" I'll be gutted.

Especially given the price up of those players.

The genius of Walsh is supposed to be we won't see our signings coming. We make a team of Ings and McCormack we'll just come back down.

I'd take McCormack without doubt. One of my mates (Lifelong Leeds fan) says McCormack likes a drink though. Nige would sort that out I'm sure (if true).

Get him playing well for us and I'm sure he'd score goals in the Prem.

I do not think so personally, Pearson has already said if we are to be promoted no major changes will be happening, everyone knows he likes to keep the squad compact with everyone knowing what job they have to do, i think we will only buy 4-5 players top, maybe less.

McCormack is a good championship striker but no better than that and what we have got upfront personally, I would hope we would go for better quality players no disrespect.

Hasnt he scored 23 goals this season, he could deffo score 10+ in the Premier League

We have a striker who can score 10 in the premier league already. We need a top notch striker who can score 20+.

Personally don't think we'll break the record. I can see us spending a bit though. The most we'll sign a player for is £3 million in my opinion, though unlike the last couple he'll have to look a bit higher than before.

The prime examples are Knockaert and Mahrez. In the Championship, whilst we already have a good side, they've been allowed to grow into English football and build their game. As with Knocky last year and Mahrez this year, they've blown hot and cold, looking quality some games and less so in others. As we've seen with Knockaert, he's been allowed to grow into the English style and this season has improved drastically, as hopefully will Mahrez. You could add Vardy to this list as well.

The point I'm trying to make is that whilst we have top notch facilities that allow our players to flourish (see Knockaert/Vardy/Drinkwater/James) in all cases it's taken time to build up, and whilst we'll likely be fighting to stay up in the Prem for the first season or two we won't have the chance to give these players game time to grow.

Ultimately, it will be a challenge on Walshy and his scouting network to find some quality players we can implement straight away, rather than ones we can build up, and I have full confidence that he's up to the challenge.

Although this will cost more, and I can see a few £2 million youngsters, maybe a few vets similar to Was and Phillips, and possibly, if be moved on Waghorn and one of the first choice strikers, a high quality striker. That's the only possible transfer I can see Nige making for over £5 million, but I can definitely see some shrewd business going on in the summer.*

* That striker may possibly be Ings, but whether Nige would want to sign someone with no experience in top flight football for such money I would doubt it.

McCormac and Cresswell. Then some big money signing and a quality midfielder.

I am worried Pearson wont sign any big money names, he has said he wants to keep the squad compact, i will be surprised if he goes for anyone incredible? e.g 7-8M

I have a sneaky feeling he'll sign four players, Cresswell, two others and a surprisingly big name striker. Just a guess though.

Depends on what Pearson is thinking, do we go for safety or do we spend a bit and go towards the mid table mark?

As nice as that'd be, it ain't gonna happen.

Right now there are two PL strikers with over 20, and if current goals/game form is roughly continued, there will be 1 more. Those players are Suarez, Sturridge and Yaya Toure. We wouldn't stand a chance if we tried to sign a player of their sort of calibre. Someone like Jay Rodriguez (15 goals so far) is probably the absolute best we could hope for, and he wouldn't come cheap. Benteke (10 so far) is about the level of player I think we're more likely to sign, though.

I'm in two minds about players like Cresswell and McCormack. On one hand, they're doing fantastically in the Championship, but on the other hand, we don't know how well they will perform, and with the amount of money potentially available for us to spend, there are far more experienced options available out there. It's going to be interesting to see how Nige and Walsh tackle this summer.
