Alf Bentley Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 You may be right and only time will really tell, but I'd like to think the owners have full faith in Pearson to know who to sign rather than trying to dictate things themselves. I wouldn't be shocked to see us go in for a big name Japanese/Korean player. Yes, I can certainly envisage that scenario, with the owners wanting a well-known name to boost their brand in Asian markets. I just hope they'd allow Pearson/Walsh to have the final say so as to ensure that it was someone who'd benefit the squad/team in the way that they play and in terms of attitude. Kagawa's not been a regular for Man Utd, has he?
MrSpaM Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Kagawa's not been a regular for Man Utd, has he? Was just thinking that myself, he's going back out on lone to his parent club so chance he'll leave united at the end of this season. Would love it if we signed him but he must be on stupid money! He'd definitely fit the bill for the sort of player the owners would want to appeal to the eastern market though.
Banks Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Jack Cork is a player I'd love at Leicester. Young, hard working and would fit right in next to Drinkwater and James.
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I'm in two minds I think we have to, but NP is sensible. Seems a long time ago, since we paid 5.5 million for Ade Akinbiye I sincerely hope so. I'd like to see us stay up convincingly and that aint gonna happen without a couple of big additions.

XLM Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Exciting to think that a player as good as Lewis Holtby currently plays for a side bottom in the league. Reckon we'll sign some real quality this summer!

Out of our league, regrettably. If he leaves Old Trafford, I'm sure there'd be clubs here or on the continent ready to offer him the prospect of Champions League football and a larger wage packet than we could afford. Someone similar but a bit lower-profile, though, maybe....provided NP and (the other) Steve Walsh approve.
VLC86 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Another wrist slitting thread Judging by this being your last post I guess you have perished but if you havent thank for your invaluable input. Jesus, Its a bloody internet forum. If you dont want to trawl through pages of discussions like this why have you signed up?
Captain... Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I have no idea what Pearson will do, this is the first time he will have a substantial budget and premier squad to build, I also don't know who we should buy, nor who is available... ...but I do know that promotion guarantees us £63m minimum in prize and TV money, we should also be well within budget for this season on transfer fees and not far behind on wages, we will also see an increase in all revenue streams with advertising, gates, merchandise and sponsorship all getting a decent increase, we will also have a few high earners finally off the books reducing our wage bill. So lets assume we can put all of that £63m into squad strengthening, fees and wages. We can probably allocate £50m for transfers fees, and £13m for wages and signing on fees. So we can afford pretty much any target we want, the difficulty will be attracting them to us without paying over the top wages and causing squad unrest, and not getting ripped off by the selling club knowing we have millions to spend. We will not get anyone from the Championship cheap, they already see us as big spenders and with the prem promotion jackpot, they will milk us for every penny they can get. I think NP will look abroad, or target the relegated clubs firesale as they try and get in line with FFP, or pick up players on the fringes of current prem teams. I also think that NP will be happier to break the bank to land the right player on the right wage, rather than offer massive wages to entice a player to us rather than somewhere else. This is going to be the most important transfer window in the history of Leicester City Football Club...
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 there's some good players from the bottom 4 at the moment (sunderland, west brom, cardiff and fulham) although i think sunderland will be okay. Dorrans and Dawson from west brom i'd quite like. Medel, Caulker, Mutch from cardiff etc
Banks Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Caulker would be brilliant, Tom Ince would be realistic too, not too sure about Zaha though.
MC Prussian Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Caulker would be brilliant, Tom Ince would be realistic too, not too sure about Zaha though. I'd love to see Jordon Mutch in a Leicester shirt, the guy's quality. Has only one year left on his contract at the end of this season, so we could snap him up for cheap (well, cheap in English terms). That'd mean me cheering for Cardiff to be relegated.

Kagawa's not been a regular for Man Utd, has he? It was Football Manager that actually made this occur to me I signed some Japanese winger and it sent shirt sales mad in Japan. It's only a game but it made me think that I wouldn't actually be surprised to see us do something along those lines. No problem with me if that player fits the squad ethic and is good enough. I think Kagawa is a step too high for a newly promoted club but thinking about it... if he became available, would you put it past Top to try and fund it?

What about that Honda guy that plays for Milan he's good hahaha
Rocky Dennis Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Caulker would be brilliant, Tom Ince would be realistic too, not too sure about Zaha though. Would cost at least £5m if not more, is he THAT much better than Knocky or Riyad? - Certainly doesn't have either of their workrate. Id be very surprised if Nige went in for him
GingerrrFox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 On this subject I know we have been following Jelle Vossen in Belgium. He's scored 20+ goals for a couple of seasons in the top league for Genk and we've had scouts over in Belgium in the past few months and I've been told good things about him.
Dan Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 What about that Honda guy that plays for Milan he's good hahaha The driving force of their midfield they say.

I can see this happening. Scouting the French lower leagues and the belgian and Dutch leagues are similarly cheap and could be productive.
Babylon Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I doubt it. If I were the owners I'd be thinking it's about time we took some money back! Indeed... Not even forgetting the fact we are already losing money each year, plus we'll have promotion bonuses and wage rises for people built into contracts. Will be interesting to see what the owners do though, after putting in so much money to get there i'm sure the won't be tight. I get the feeling there will be absolute trust of Pearson and they will just let him get what he thinks he needs within reason.
johnny the fox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 The driving force of their midfield they say. he's out injured, up on bricks.
richardsfoxes Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 That is the great thing about us hopefully being promoted early, can start looking at players if not have a list already, plus with the world cup on show i wouldn't be surprised if we were to sign a player there who plays well. I would suspect that we would break our transfer record as didn't all 3 of the teams going up last year break theirs?
Guest Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I think we should check out a few more of the Algerian youngsters. for example Mohamed Chalali a Young striker born in France playing in Algeria looks a decent punt. Skillful, fast, good header, nose for the goal and shouldn't be too expensive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8my4SORuNo
