Sorry it is from the DM http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2605672/Britains-youngest-parents-Mother-12-gives-birth-7lb-baby-girl-falling-pregnant-primary-school-boy-aged-13.html

A 12-year-old girl has given birth to her 13-year-old boyfriend's baby - making them Britain's youngest parents, it was revealed today.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had a daughter last weekend after conceiving when she was still at primary school.

She was 11 then, and is now in Year 7 at school. Her boyfriend, who also cannot be named, is in Year 9 at another school.

Her Mum is only 27, which means she had her at 15. She could be a great-grandma at 39. Crazy.

I wonder if her Mum works.

It's ridiculous... You can't understand anything like that at that young age, surely?

"The father is in year 9". I mean, we always had those "forward" kids at school but I have no doubts that only a very small percentage of my year had actually had sex during school years, especially not in year 9. That is well young. Get back to playing football in the street!!

Eh. Kids are going to shag. We sexualise everything these days, some kids develop quicker than others.

I mean I'm not suggesting it's okay but I struggle to be shocked by this.

And there you have it. You can educate them all you want but if you they have no respect for their own parents this will continue to happen.

It's a never ending cycle. No doubt this one will also drop a sprog out before 16.

I hope my last week on earth is the one where we have literally ran out of money, watching these sort of people trying to fend for themselves would be brilliant.

Disgraceful and disgusting. So irresponsible, ignorant and selfish it makes my blood boil.

I am unfortunate enough to be colleagues with a 32 year old grandmother (16 and then 16 fwiw) and it really annoys me that social protocol dictates I can't let fly at her with exactly how I feel.

Bringing a child into this world without the environment or wherewithal to care for and support it is probably one of the most irresponsible acts anyone can do.

Sadly, that's not just the preserve of the young and dumb either.

Look on the bright side though for the lad, he'll be having his spliffs courtesy of the taxpayer now until he's 29.

Exactly the same, fell out with someone I once worked with for saying her 14 year old was irresponsible.

She thought it was "wonderful"

My cousin was a Gran at 32. Perfectly nice family, not messed up, able to support each other. I don't know why it makes your blood boil so much.

I think this is a good point. However, the issue here for me is the negligence of the (grand)parents, which is not the case when adults have children.

When you get people on message boards saying how great it is to be a mother at 15 and you can live off the state have a free house, free money and a life of luxury you are  going to get young vulnerable girls believing it. So stop encouraging them to be irresponsible. Tell them they will have the best years of their life devoted to dirty nappies and sleepless nights and they may think twice before opening their legs.

The kid isn't necessarily set up to fail, the kid might or probably will be a waster but to write them off so early is unfair.

Because I see it as lazy, irresponsible and grossly negligent. I feel confident in saying that the family would be in a better place had they used contraception, completed their education, joined the working world, and waited until their affairs as adults were in order before having children.

True. They'll have more time to get used to it by the fifth child before they are 21.

Joking. If they have the right support there is no reason why they cannot be good parent/mothr

I have no useful contribution to make, which is why I have made none.
