Nick Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Should 'Big Wes' be given the nod again or is there a chance he won't feature as a lynchpin on the team-sheet next season? Nothing against Wes but I suspect Danny Drinks may get the nod in the summer. Who would you appoint and why?
Finnegan Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 You captain your team to promotion you captain them next season. The end.
Haydos Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Danny seems way too quiet to be a captain. Difficult to tell from our position but just based on what we see I think he'd be one of the worst choices. You captain your team to promotion you captain them next season. The end. Also this.
Leeds_Fox95 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Was going to start this thread the other day so thanks for saving me the hassle! I've said before, Wes has been shaky in the past few games but he's got us up and deserves to lead us out with the prem armband on in August . With regards to Drinky I don't see him as captain material. It's very Sunday league to make your best player captain (because let's be honest if he does get the nod, that's why). Look at leeds, Rudy Austin was the best midfielder leeds had for the most of last season, got given the armband and now he's sh*te, he couldn't handle the pressure of being captain. We don't want that to happen to Drinky, just let him get on with his job in midfield without any added pressure. Matty James would be better suited I feel.
Tielemans63 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Wes is captain, he should remain captain. A few dodgy performances doesn't make you a bad player or leader. He's led the team brilliantly since he arrived - it would be stupid to strip him of the captaincy. Also, DD is a bloody brilliant player for us but in NPs own words is 'a complex character' which is probably not what you want from a captain.
MooseBreath Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I think drinky will be a great captain in two or three years but big wesley should keep it for now
Jimmy Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Wes is being saved by the armband now, not good enough for the prem
Tielemans63 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Wes is being saved by the armband now, not good enough for the prem And you know that without having ever seen him play in the Prem? Wow.
Haydos Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 And you know that without having ever seen him play in the Prem? Wow. Laughable isn't it. He's been brilliant for 90% of his time here. Epitomises the fickleness of our fans.
80footgiraffe Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 I dont think he's even been that bad recently...
Tielemans63 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Laughable isn't it. He's been brilliant for 90% of his time here. Epitomises the fickleness of our fans. I find it unbelievable Haydos. Guys like Wes, Nuge and Kasper, they've been brilliant for us all season, they have a run of below par performances and suddenly they're 'not good enough' or 'they'll cost us in the Prem'. It's an absolute joke and frankly embarrassing.
Charl91 Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Wes is solid. One of the first names on our team sheet.
Crinklyfox Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 NP will keep Wes as captain just as he'll keep the team that got us up. he's generated a real team spirit and the players appear loyal to him, I expect he'll support them by giving them their chance in the big time.
fuchsntf Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Wes, to start any replacement later if Wes does struggle then James. Lets see first how the 1st quarter pans out.Wes played well against a nippy attack today. Was. was focused and better disciplined, I thought Schlupp was good in defence but below average going forward. Nugents running is phenomenal, I dont understand his critics to be honest.
MPH Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 If wes gets replaced as captain next season then i'll eat Harry Redknapp's belly button fluff.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 3 poor games individually, two of which were results against pre-season favourites, and you deserve to lose your captaincy? Nice to see people are staying grounded.

He had a good game today. He doesn't always play like that though - if he did, then I'd have no problems.
XLM Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Thought Wes was pretty solid today against a striker who was starting in the Premiership not so long ago.
Pegosteve Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Think I over reacted after the Reading game. I thought Wes did well today and TBH I cannot really see anyone else in the team who could do it at the minute. I think I'll keep my thoughts to myself and leave NP to make the decisions!
Buzzell Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 What has Morgan done wrong for anybody to suggest the armband being taken from him?
elangLCFC Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Think Wes has been excellent but if it had to be somebody else then it'd be James for me
LcFc_Smiv Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 He had a good game today. He doesn't always play like that though - if he did, then I'd have no problems. 21 goals! 21! What more do you want? The reason he doesn't usually play like that is because it's Vardys role, in which they both combine for an effective partnership. As fans I honestly think there's not one player we can have a problem with!
Father Ted Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 And you know that without having ever seen him play in the Prem? Wow. Look, everybody is allowed an opinion and personally I feel inclined to an extent to agree with him. In response to the OP, I feel we need a much stronger captain next season and it could cause issues should Morgan be dropped which I could see happening next season at times. Hence, why I would give it to Danny Drinkwater.

Of course people are entitled to their opinion, I just think it's strange that Wes has been written off as not good enough for the prem even though he hasn't appeared in it yet? Also, why do we need a stronger captain next season? Not done a bad job, Wes, has he? Maybe he won't be up to it next year but until he's given the chance he shouldn't be written off - that's my opinion. Especially as he's done an outstanding job as LCFC captain since the day he came through the door.
Bert Posted 19 April 2014 Posted 19 April 2014 Wes is being saved by the armband now, not good enough for the premDon't be so ridiculous. You hate him for no reason.
