A piece of grass is a piece of grass. Fact. Unless you want to call it a blade.

"Ooh mummy, I jumped on a piece of grass today" "Oh did you son? Well done, You are growing into a big boy"!:rolleyes:

Nobody in the history of the world had ever used the term "a piece of grass" before this thread.

What would you refer to it as a blade or piece of?

I can remember years ago we took about 9000 to peterborough. It was like the Wild West when we rode into town, women scarpered shops and bars hurriedly slammed down their shutters as tumble weed blew across the road in front of us. Anyway, apart from a couple of streakers the day went without incident (we lost) until the final whistle, as the city fans crammed in half the ground turned to leave, mounted police rode onto the pitch like the cavalry followed by riot police and dog handlers. Because of this all the city fans stopped turned round and stayed in the ground giving abuse to the police for a complete and utter over reaction, after a while the tanoy announced that if we didn't leave the trains would all go without us. How we laughed at that, they had been shit scared of us coming, all week the news was filled with story's of business owners saying they were closing for the day, so to think that we believed they were going to leave thousands of Leicester fans stranded in peterborough was a complete joke. I think the events that surrounded that fixture made peterborough the most tin pot club we have ever come up against for me.

I remember this, you're so right, the 'over policing' meant the City fans did look like invading the pitch. I remember a bunch of lads in fancy dress having a go at the police. There was an Arab Sheikh looking to fight a copper, one of the funniest sites I've ever seen.

I appreciate what you are saying, I'm just making the point that there will be planned celebrations - I always feel a pitch invasion should be spontaneous, not planned and often comes about by events at that moment in time. That is, you gain promotion or the title after either knowing you've done the job or on hearing other results.

the pitch invasions are normanly planed ..

burnley 1983 city fans went on pitch as planed BEFORE THEY WERE PROMOTED . it was confirmed after the pitch invasion (derby v fulham result was confirmed)

Leicester v oxford 1991 city fans invaded the pitch as planed knowing that bristol rovers v wba match kicked off 10 minutes late .that result needed to be confirmed to decide leicesters fate .   .

Imagine if that wasn't the weakest comparison I've seen in ages

I'm about to drop a couple of bombshells for some people here so prepare...

Firstly, when the tannoy man at Huddersfield said the players would only come back out to clap if Leicester fans cleared the pitch, that was just a tactic to try and get people off the pitch. The truth is that they were never going to come back out or be clapping us because there were Huddersfield fans on the pitch too! Having said that, some did even make their way over and clap still so those who are outraged that they missed this weren't looking hard enough. No big deal though, it's just clapping and I'm sure Pearson enjoyed the change of jumping about in the middle of everyone rather than a simple clap.

Secondly, if on Saturday the tannoy man at the KP says there won't be a trophy presentation if people go on the pitch, he is also lying. There's no way the Football League would not have their trophy presented with the Sky Bet ribbons, on the Sky Bet podium, by the man from Sky Bet, so that the players can spray their Sky Bet champagne, whilst waving Sky Bet 'Champions' flags. The corporate nature of football means that the trophy not being lifted in front of a crowd and cameras is an impossibility! All it would do is delay things (in which case no harm done, everyone celebrates how they want) or worst-case scenario mean that an alternative arrangement such as lifting it in the Directors' Box would have to be made. So don't worry, no-one is going to deny you the chance to see that or Sky Bet to reap the rewards of their sponsorship. Everyone in the ground will want that trophy being presented including anyone briefly on the pitch (not that it'll happen).

Spot on.

I seem to remember it being our game that kicked off late, due to the large crowd

That's absolutely fine, but I think we'd all get on better if you didn't mock people who see it differently.

Me?

I believe my response was in kind to someone mocking others.

You seemed to be suggesting that people were a bit simple because they wanted to go on the pitch. My mistake if you weren't.

There had been a pitch invasion at the Derby Fulham game something like 78 seconds before the final whistle.

The game wasn't restarted and there was a chance that the League may have made them replay the whole game.

I believe that's how it panned it out, it was a long time ago.

This coming from the person that got upset because they didn't get the chance to clap the players and have the players clap them back lol

I didnt say I was upset, I said i was dissapointed as there was mention of the players coming back but I now know this was probably a ruse from the Huddersfield tannoy announcer to get people off the pitch

Your spelling and punctuation let you down, but I can see what you are trying to say.

However, I still think you were "reeled in"  :yesyes:  :yesyes:

When we invaded the pitch against Oxford and Spurs it was an amazing feeling, celebrating all together, getting a view of the ground from the players perspective and more but they were both very special occasions

There will be fans on Saturday of an age who have probably not experienced that and I for one say if you wanna go on then do it and I won't be far behind you I promise!.... There's too many people nowadays who just want to take all the enjoyment out of going to a match
