Danno Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Yeah, Chelsea's millions of pounds worth of foreigners against morecombe on a tuesday night, great.
oxford blue Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Yeah, Chelsea's millions of pounds worth of foreigners against morecombe on a tuesday night, great. I'm not sure if this is serious but the idea would be for the B team would be mainly "home grown" players. Would this idea actually encourage the bigger clubs to sign even more young players? If the B teams play at about league 2/Conference level, there will be players at these clubs who would be better off on loan in the Championship/League 1. Therefore, more would need to be signed to ensure there was sufficient numbers to ensure fixtures are played. And adding another tier to the lower leagues would not be helpful to the teams at that level, adding another hurdle to progress up the leagues. So that's another no.
Voll Blau Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Disgusting idea, so naturally I expect the chinless wonders at the FA to rubber stamp it.
Charl91 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 This is almost as ridiculous as the idea to scrap relegation from the Premier League. Massive no.
Vlad the Fox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 So because the football authorities no longer have any power over the premier league and big clubs they come up with crap like this. If they want to help the national team they should be looking at ways of getting more young English players into first teams throughout the leagues especially the prem.
Fox in the North Posted 7 May 2014 Author Posted 7 May 2014 He talks so much yet really doesn't clear up much at all...http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01ynzd4
Fox in the North Posted 8 May 2014 Author Posted 8 May 2014 So much for Danny Mills saying that was not the case!
AndWhat? Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 The one thing about German football I don't want to see over here!!
Dan Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 I really do despair at this country. The one time we look to Spain/Germany for inspiration and we copy probably their shittest, least important aspect behind their success. Utterly dreadful but seeing as we're a nation of walkovers it'll go ahead unchallenged.
AndWhat? Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Leicester playing at home the Tuesday. Leicester 2 away at Forest 2 on the Saturday........... Every cloud and all that.
BrummieFOX Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 FFS Yet again, another ruling which would only benefit the bigger clubs who can now pick off any young player with an whiff of talent and pop them straight in their B Team. Hidden behind the fact it'll benefit our national team. Ridiculous.
Guest MattP Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 And they can't be promoted to the Championship So Wilfred Zaha is supposed to improve his game by going from Championship Cardif to Man Utd and then to play in League 2 in a B team? Yeah this is going to work.
RowlattsFox Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Will B teams go into the leagues as they are? Or will a new league be created for b teams? Wasn't clear on the short article I just read?
Grandad. Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Will B teams go into the leagues as they are? Or will a new league be created for b teams? Wasn't clear on the short article I just read? A fourth league will be created apparently, 'League 3'. B sides can only play as high as League 1 I believe..
adam Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 So what happens with teams getting promoted from the conference? do they just get promoted to this new league 3? Joke decision
Will1981 Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Will B teams go into the leagues as they are? Or will a new league be created for b teams? Wasn't clear on the short article I just read? into a new league 3, between league 2 and conference.
deejdeej Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Our league system is brilliant and has no need to change. I can't believe what I'm hearing on sky sports news right now. Pitying the premier league clubs because they spend so much on player development but cant put them in their teams. Tough ****ing luck, that's their choice. Make a rule that each club has to have at least 6 British players in their first team for every game.. sorted!
Dan Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 So the Conference will now be the sixth tier? This entire idea is a load of bollocks. It doesn't add up. Even if there is a supposed benefit, why stop them playing as high as the second tier? You just have to laugh. We have the best depth in a league system in the world, why are we scrapping that? Sell-outs.
Guest MattP Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 We are completely dismantling our league system which we have always claimed is the best in the World just to try and win the 2022 World Cup? Danny Mills now saying "In Spain the B sides hardly ever win the divisions" - You are right Danny, however in Spain the big clubs dont sweep up players from the second tier for 15 million quid to rot in the reserves either because they have more money than sense from a foreign crinimal trying to launder money.
Guest MattP Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 Anyone watching this and almost thinking its a sinister way of taking us towards an American franchise type system where we have the Major League with no relegation and the Minor leagues just feeding up players to them?
Guest MattP Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 We've now got Howard Wilkinson on a stage talking about the future of football.
davieG Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 The creation of a new tier within the Football League to accommodate Premier League B teams is at the heart of the Football Association commission's four-point plan to boost English football. The review also calls for a ban on non-EU players outside of the top flight and a reduction in non-home-grown players in Premier League squads. It also wants to develop "strategic loan partnerships" between clubs. The suggestions come as a response to a lack of available English talent. In the 2012-13 Premier League season, only 32% of starters qualified to play for England, compared to 69% 20 years ago. The figure was 28% among the top four clubs that season. The exhaustive review by the commission, headed up by FA chairman Greg Dyke, aims to restore the amount of English players within the Premier League to 45% by 2022. "I welcome the proposals," said national team manager Roy Hodgson. "Having worked at all levels of football, and across different countries and cultures, I have some reference points about what needs to be done in England. "But I am just one voice of many who have contributed to this important study and I hope the debate that has been provoked can lead to some real developments in our game."
