Grandad. Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Well there seems to be a distinct couple of groups who go to watch Leicester and those who go to watch the opposition then. I'm not bothered what people do, but there is lots of excuse making going on, at least you are honest about it. Next season when we get smashed by one of the big 4/5, I hope those people walk home happy in the thought they just saw some good football from the opposite as we got trounced. If people think they will get a better season than the one we just witnessed, or even huge chunks of the season before then they might end up disappointed. Value for money wise it's going to take some beating. I'm really not arsed about the opposition in the slightest, I go to watch City and hope to see some decent football and we have a good go. I appreciate not everyone is. Everything you have said is right, as you know I'm not a Leicester fan so this has no impact on me, I would be peeved if I had a ST last season and seasons before that and thousands decided this season to get STs, but it happened the last time Leicester were in the Premier League, happens to the majority of clubs who have gone up and down. Dread to think what West Brom's ST numbers were like in there up and down stage! Yet then again I can see it from the fans who have just decided to get a ST, at the end of the day, you're all going down to the KP to support your team (I hope), there will be people hissing and booing at times but that's part and parcel. There were idiots storming out and booing v Brighton so expect it.

There were idiots storming out and booing v Brighton so expect it. I'm not peeved at new people getting tickets, just that lots aren't honest about their reasons (not all granted). A mate of mine hasn't had one in a decade, his last one was in the prem. I asked him every year from that season onwards (barring the few I missed for one reason or another) and he would say no I don't have the money. Then he becomes a spurs fan and is going down there 8 times a season (probably costing more than a season ticket)... guess what, as soon as the season tickets went on sale I was getting a call about where I sat so he can sit near us. Apparently he can afford it this season and his love affair with spurs has ended (for now). He should just own up, and be honest!!
davieG Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 I reckon a high proportion of the 'newbies' have bought tickets to ensure that the number of games they usually go to they can guarantee they'll be there as without a ST, especially if we have a decent bash at it they run the risk of missing those games. They're doing this and not expecting to attend every game and will probably make a loss on it compared to buying matchday tickets.. I guarantee there will be plenty of empty seats at a number of games where these fans are unable to attend. It's a shame the club aren't more 'fan' friendly and run a system where fans can exchange / sell seats at games they can't attend but i guess as there's no financial gain in it for LCFc they aren't really bothered. This is why the ticket exchange and family discounts have disappeared because they knew they would sell out the STs especially by announcing a limit on them so no incentive to buy them was needed.
ImBlue Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 In all seriousness, I think it is appalling in this day and age that the only way to get a season ticket it to get to the ground early, queue and hope. Surely the club should have an online sales system that is robust enough to cope with demand: they could even have rented-in an online selling system for a week or so without breaking the bank. What does it matter to leicester city whether you or the next guy in the queue get the season ticket as long as they sell out. What loyalty do they owe new season ticket holders simply signing up because of where we are?

Quite a few clubs already do this in the prem using stub hub so could be an option now

The club are signed to a football league deal so one provider provides all the websites to all football league teams

What loyalty do they owe new season ticket holders simply signing up because of where we are? It doesn't matter to the plc/money men. But from a support point of view the players and management have said how well we have been backed this season. Seeing loads of empty seats or people filing for the exits with 20 to go is not great.
stripeyfox Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Aren't the prices on that ridiculously high? Don't know what the commission structure is but I could (if I wanted to) buy a ticket for Tigers v Saracens (tomorrow) for £29.90 (in the huge stand) whereas Tigers website lists this as £34.

I think they should bring in LCFC true fan tests to solve that, although that may take more time.

I will always want Leicester to succeed and ultimately do well but when the time comes in them two games you play Liverpool, I hope we beat you, maybe last game of the season and you needed three points to stay up and we had nothing to play for then I would want a Leicester win. I don't know how your mate can do that, I have often gone to Leicester games, the season City were relegated I think I did something like 20 Leicester games that season, maybe a few more in fact. I couldn't get Liverpool tickets so Leicester with friends was my next option. I loved all the games, even the upset that it did bring but Liverpool will always be my club. Like you say, just be honest.

Quite a few clubs already do this in the prem using stub hub so could be an option now I thought the reselling of sport event tickets was against the law, or does that only apply to individual sellers and not if you are already a massive wealthy business owner? In all seriousness, I think it is appalling in this day and age that the only way to get a season ticket it to get to the ground early, queue and hope. Surely the club should have an online sales system that is robust enough to cope with demand: they could even have rented-in an online selling system for a week or so without breaking the bank. The thing is they didn't need to sell any tickets online, they sold out in record time anyway, and if it was online based you probably would have got a higher number of casual fans and possibly a lot more being sold on StubHub at obscene prices. Also if they had invested in a more efficient selling system to sell online it would have meant less money available to invest in the team. Whatever the club did there was always going to be somebody who wasn't happy, the thing is those who already had a season ticket and were able and willing to join the queue early enough got tickets. Maybe if the club do memberships (which I would expect they will) those who missed out on ST's will still be able to guarantee their seat for next season.

Like you say, just be honest. Too much honesty mate! Followed liverpool as a lad, as you do myself. Went to a lot of games, sometimes on my own including champions league semi final. Dad couldn't go to notts forest at home when we won 3-0? GALLY free kick game and I went along. Loved it. Found there was nothing like following your local team and have done since. I'd always looked out for leicester but now I just keep an eye on liverpool. Spent a season or so going to games as I could and this season took the plunge for a season ticket as work changes let me have most Saturdays off. Glad I did as its been an amazing season and I look forward to next season. Leicester was somewhat infectious for me and no going back now!
gibbin82 Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Actually I am a bit surprised the club didn't do a priority system for the new season tickets. For the future if we are successful in the Premier and increase the ground capacity, the club could introduce a registration system like that operated by Glastonbury festival. With that you have to be registered before you can buy a ticket and there is a cut off date for registration prior to the tickets going on sale. The club could do similar allowing people to register up to the cut off date or when registrations equal the amount of new season tickets that will be available.
Bert Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 My big bro has got his first season ticket. He's always been to games but supporting his family has always been his priority. He's been promoted in his job and his daughter is now old enough to come to games. This is just another scenario that people don't think about. Now he can afford it and my niece is old enough he's getting a season ticket every season. Everyone's circumstances are different. I know this time next year I'll probably have to pick and choose my away games so I'm making the most of getting to to every possible game I can at the minute.

Bayfox Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Is it correct that n block having now been re graded as part of the family stand any existing season ticket holders with no kids are being told to move with no choice. I understand why. But really is again kicking our own fans in the teeth.

Livid Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 I'll be honest. I gave up my season ticket under Levein for a number of reasons, my mate who I went with had issues in his life and stopped going, the atmosphere at the ground was dreadful, we had a revolving squad of players every season and the football was awful. I went as a casual fan for the next couple of seasons until Holloway managed the unthinkable and took us into division one. I just couldn't bring myself to go and watch them the following season, for the first time in 30 years I didn't go to a single game. I still loved the club and wanted them to win every week but I had no desire to actually go and watch them. The last few years courtesy of fan's fixtures, birthday offers and the use of freinds ST's they have slowly lured me back in. I even paid full price a few times last year ( even though I thought match tickets were expensive for the championship) by and large I enjoyed it. What I realised this coming season is that I probably had to go all in on a season ticket or risk not getting down to a game at all. Don't really care about who we're playing just realised that getting a ticket would be difficult. I'd like them to beat Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City etc but with the squads they have I'm not expecting it. I've seen good and bad times, but there's no work, distance, other commitments, unable to afford it excuses from me. I just fell out of love with going down and broke the habit, but they've hooked me again.

L1 love it or hate it started the rebirth of our club.
Livid Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Hate to say it but since o'neill left, up until this year. You missed the best season. L1 love it or hate it started the rebirth of our club. I was spoilt I started going in the mid 70's when I was about 6, both parents had ST's and my dad used to take me to the odd Midlands away game. He stopped going when I was about 15 and I carried on going with my mates, home and away, fun times but don't remember much about the football. Had a ST for a couple of years until I was 18. I only saw the odd games during the Pleat Years as I was at college in Swansea, so missed those bad times. When I came back Brian Little took charge and I think I went the first home game, Plymouth?, and became a member. The following year I got a ST and started going away games again. Then we had McGhee, O'Neil, Taylor, Adams there was never a dull moment. Then we hit the rocks and it suddenly became very dull.
