Lord Nibblington Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 It's 'easy' to be up for games against Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal, Stoke (Away - tough game, you know you've got to be on the top of your game), Man Utd, but we need to be up for the games against teams that are a probably will be around us and not treat those games with contempt. So you would say we looked up for it in the 1st half of the game at Stoke? Since my memory of the Stoke game is we were awful 1st half, didn't look up for it at all and got utterly swamped, made some changes at half time, looked far better and took a chance won the game. But I don't think we can pretend we were up for it in the 1st half at all.
ScouseFox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 So, if you draw at home to Sunderland too, then you're not good enough? My point was if you (you as in any team, not just Burnley) are going to stay up you're going to need to get about 40 points, yes? That's the target/aim/hope. Games vs Sunderland and vs crystal palace are what I'd see as some of the easier chances to get some of those 40 points, no? Which is why I said last night every game against a "lesser", no disrespect, side you don't win, you then put pressure on yourselves to get something from a trickier game. Yourselves not getting more than a point at home vs Sunderland for example now means later in the season you might be needing to get three points off an Everton or a spurs. The easiest way to stay up is to beat 10/12 teams who aren't that good. You only got two draws and now we've bloody lost to 'em. Makes it all the more difficult. Like I said we beat united so it takes a bit of pressure away, who knows, you might make up for a slightly disappointing points return from seemingly easier games by taking 6 points off Liverpool and arsenal. Wouldn't even surprise me, funny old game ain't it. I will say though, if (BIG two letter word that) you lose today and then we beat you next week, you'll have played what I assume you view as 4 relegation rivals in a row, and taken 2/12. Then you've got to start worrying, no? And if (there it is again) you win today or next week a missed penalty at palace or a point against Sunderland is forgotten, such is the nature of this crazy game.
BlackburnClaret Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 I'd rather win the next two games, yes, but I'd take two draws right now. Will I be worried if we lose them both? Not particularly, but when we play you and West Brom at home I'd be wanting 4 points, minimum. I personally think that our point at Palace was decent. What is an easier game anyway? I think the games with the clubs around you are usually the tougher ones anyway. I think our wins will come against the likes of Spurs at home (we always win that fixture) and Villa/Everton type teams. Time will tell, I'm enjoying every minute of it, low expectations help you to do that.
BlackburnClaret Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 No Marney or Jones today, basically playing with four wingers in midfield. Lump on West Brom.
KFS Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Anyone else watching this Burnley warm up and thinking how unprofessional it looks?
KFS Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 What were they doing? All rolling about at different times. They showed a shot of them running about in different directions
ScotFox22 Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Anyone else confused as to why sky sports news feed keeps saying keiran trippier is burnleys only goal scorer this season...
Guest Papasmurf Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 All rolling about at different times. They showed a shot of them running about in different directions Haha, Neville has just said they looked very well drilled warming up before the game.
KFS Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 So far this looks like a re-run of our game yesterday. We need to be prepared for this next week.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 2-0 If we dont beat Burnley next week i'll be livid, they're poor at this level

johnny the fox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 The mighty Burnley are being jizzed all over...
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 The mighty Burnley are being jizzed all over... But they've got a lot of team spirit, how many points is that worth?
Soar Fox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Wanted Burnley to score today, as you just know they'll definitely score against us now.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Puts our start into perspective. The loss against Palace was a bit of a blip and the goals were as a result of a bit of inattentiveness at set pieces, but we have shown our quality prior to that and demonstrated that we really can score goals. Burnley have been embarrassed and repeatedly carved open and they haven't even looked like scoring. In fact, they have scored one goal in all competitions this season and that was against Chelsea when they lost 3-1.
