LCFC31 Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 It would have been better if they had put 'Lesta'. More accurate for the local area.
promised land Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 Most watched game last season was the Welsh derby at 1.24 million viewers. Americans just don't want football, that is a nothing audience compared to their population. Probably mostly expats, Europeans watching it anyway. The 94 World Cup was supposed to draw more interest but it never materialised.

No to be fair football in the states is picking up, the MLS is certainly improving and alot of big name players are playing there. Also there national team team is getting better. Though as mentioned the 94 world cup didn't draw as much as they thought, personally i think the interest picked up when David Beckham went over there.
Fox92 Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 MLS has always had big named players. Bobby Moore for example, and you can't get a much bigger name than that in this Country.

Fox92 Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 Pele. I was referring to nationality, hence I said "in this country" but I take your point... It's not just suddenly got big names.
Unabomber Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 Wow I've been pronouncing it wrong all this time, shame.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 Football in American schools/colleges and university's has never been more popular. Almost every American child will play it at some point

MPH Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 I wouldnt really say that its an accurate assessment of how many people watch the premier league here in the states. That might be how many tvs are showing it... There are so many more sports bars over here and they always have a prem game on - pretty much every mix of people i have seen in there too - loads of south Americans and there's a large African interest in the prem team- they are always packed watching the prem games when i have seen them.... I mean, It's not like the daily mail to try and put a negative spin on anything is it?

mrgarrison16 Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 'US broadcasters NBC paid £148million ($250million) to show every Premier League game live in the United States and Swansea's 3-0 win over Cardiff on February 8 attracted 1.24million viewers.' Does this mean every game that was on tv? Or literally every match?

Does this mean every game that was on tv? Or literally every match? They would usually just show what was on sky. The only time they showed every game was last day if the season. Showed every one of them live.

A lot of publicity at the moment and it can only grow if we can succeed next season.

Does this mean every game that was on tv? Or literally every match? Can watch every game live if you have the right cable package. What it really means is that the 3pm kick offs in the UK that aren't televised live, all of them are available live over here. Always got the live UK games.
