that says so much about the person

Your comments says an awful lot about you little Boy, i mean Brian.

Seriously you must be 16.  Just wait till you have a job and a family.  When will you ever say to your employers or anyone you have or had a contract with, sure I don't need it you take it back.

Just get real.  Get a job and pay some bills.  Nugent taking monies he has been offered and paid says nothing about his character.

You can't compare Nuge to the average person though. He's a millionaire, and his continued claiming of wages he doesn't need is helping to bleed Portsmouth dry. He doesn't have to worry about bills like the average person as he will earn around a million a year so it's pointless comparing the two.

Yes he's legally entitled to it but surely the decent thing to do would be to let it go and help Portsmouth stay on a stable footing.

Good logical post.   It never ceases to amaze me how the rich just become more greedy the richer they get. Nugent as has been said will never have money worries nor his family ever again. He has and will continue to have a lavish lifestyle even when he no longer plays. So if it is all about the money then shame on him to treat Portsmouth this way.  :(

I would carry on taking the money if I was Nugent without any doubt.

He signed a contract and is entitled to what is due.

It could have easily worked out the other way where Pompey did well, he wasn't and they certainly would have tried to shoe horn him out of the club.

Football is brutal from both sides, and you don't see instances of clubs severing contracts and allowing players to go if the player sees a better opportunity elsewhere. Of course the clubs hold out for huge transfer fees.

Don't blame Nugent, blame Pompeys mismanagement, which has caused their downfall.

On a seperate, but related point. Always makes me smile that when someone does well and earns well they are suddenly greedy. Nugent has suddenly become greedy by looking at options after his contract has expired. It is only what everyone else would do, but as he is quite wealthy, for some reason he is seen as greedy.

Maybe when you are well off you are not allowed in some people's eyes to continue to do the best for you and your family??

Thats bullshit.

We accepted a bid from Middlesborough for Izzet 2 years before he left, who offered him more money but he chose to stay to help the team.

The reason he left was we didnt offer him another contract when his ran out as we couldnt afford to keep him.

Key words there are that we didnt offer him a contract. Izzet didnt have a choice, Nugent does.

The two are miles apart.

Izzet never left as he was on such a good deal with us, nobody came in for him who could make him a better option for him and his family.

Loyalty would have gone out the window if he was offered a much better package.

We wanted to move him out, hence the Middlesbrough deal, but his Leicester wages were obstructive. I wouldn't say he stayed because he wanted to stay and help the team. More that the Boro deal and moving up there was not right for him. Pretty sure if it was a Midlands Prem club and the deal was right he would have been off.

Muzzy stayed, which was the best deal for him. Good luck to him, great player, good deal for him, happy days.

Losing Nugent would be a big mistake by this football club.

That said, no player should hold the club to ransom. And I do mean NO player.

lol That's a Collism if ever I've read one!

On the one hand losing Nugent would be a big mistake...... so the club should pay to secure his services?

On the other hand no player should hold a club to ransom....... so he should take whatever the club offers?

It's a Col 22 situation!

Is there any evidence whatsoever that Nugent is 'holding the club to ransom' whatever that means - it's far more like the club are playing hardball with Nugent in terms of salary and length of contract and his representatives are advising him to hold out for a better deal.

Why do you analyse a comment to the n'th degree? Or do you just not understand?

We don't want to lose Nugent. He's been an important part of what we've achieved and imo has more to give. HOWEVER, we have a wage cap, apparently. We need to stick to it so that player's don't become pissed-off with what they are earning comparatively to one another.

same job since 1987 , mortgage paid off , 2 sons following City since 1979 ( first game) , you may be losing touch with reality down in Aus , stick to Neighbours bud

Nuge doesn't play or for Portsmouth no more  , yet still takes the 3k pay day every month on top of his Lcfc contract , plus sponsopship

very unethical in my book

Nobody's analysing anything you've written to any serious degree Col - that would be futile but if you can't see the ambiguity in your statement then there is as much point continuing this exchange as there was bringing the subject of the alleged wage cap into you your last retort.

So there is no wage-cap? Or wage-structure? You know this how exactly?

Do you work for the club?

Rather than posting your normal patronising nonsense, give us your acumen. We're all ears.

You're not exactly innocent of that yourself, you know.

Well you live your life based on a very naive book.  It its not unethical in any way for any player to take money offered in any contract.  Players have a limited life in football and have every right to see that contracts are met.  Clubs discard players all the time at contracts end.

He is not greedy or any other word you could use on this basis.  Blame the club management and ownership.

Time out,

Some of you need to stop patronising people, that means talking down to them

Agreed but will never happen here.

Some think they are IT and others are shit.

That's it. Run out of arguments so resort to posting daft pictures.

Are you 12?

What?????????

NO player should be allowed to hold the club to ransom, but if Nugent does it and we let him go the club would be making a big mistake.

Give me time, I'm sure I can work out what you're on about.

It makes me laugh when people say footballers have a very limited career.

If they can't set themselves up after earning say 10 grand a week for 10 years then they must be bloody stupid.

And if they can't why can't they pick up a paintbrush or teach kids sport like the rest of us?

We should try to keep Nugent. On a salary commensurate with his ability and relative to the salaries of the other players. He's an important player for the club.

However, if he demands more than the club wish to pay (the club is more important than Nugent), then he should leave.

I aint explaining it again.

Bizarre how Bob Weasel got it straightaway when others didn't. I think some people simply like a row. Or they arent very bright? Dunno...

defends from the front ? work rate ? team player ? nice fella ? how many more phrases can we make up to cover up his pathetic strike rate ?

12 league goals from open play since December 2012....................sez it all

Your one-dimensional assessment of a striker who has more to his game than just goals sez it all.

How is that unethical? It's part of the contract.

Or would you turn down extra pay each month from a previous employment that you're entitled to?

Sorry mate, but you can't blame me 'cos you post a load of rubbish. Furthermore, your above explanation has an opinion that can be understood, whilst your original post was both confused and contradictory. Your fault, not mine!
