Nuge contract talks stall..

I'd expect a couple of strategic loans, too. It may be that the top six will now feel like loaning us a better quality of fringe player. It's a model that can work well for newer teams in the Prem

I struggle to belive ''a lot of the funds have been re invested in current squad'' we have offered a few players new contracts, that will hardly make a massive dent in £80m income we are likely to get this season.

If kasper was on £20k a week last season and is now on £35k that is an extra £15k a week, so £780,000 this year. A drop in the ocean in these times

Precisely. Some moronic posts in this thread

that all depends if you feel its ok for someone else to pay for your well being

am I right in thinking your on benefits and think nothing of living off others ?

its ultimately the fans that give him the 3k out of their pocket every week !

Personally I  have never had a free money from anywhere or off anybody , I have too much pride for that

We all know football has been taken over by  horrible greed but is it ok just to be part of it ?

Two wrongs don't make a right ...........

Pay your way and don't expect  free ride on the backs of others .....( a parasite definition )

Look at Lineker and Heskey both dug deep when we were bankrupt

They are almost the complete opposite of Nugent

I could walk through Portsmouth with my held held high could Dave Nugent do the same ?

Is image will always be tainted in my eyes cos of this

Pride eh ? whas that in Britain today or Braunstone for that matter ? omg lol lol lol

all conjecture but if we make a big fat profit, the owners can take a hefty dividend payment. i dont think they are intent on seeing a financial return on their investment (a reduction on their losses) but i expect nige will get a big fat bonus if he keeps us up and generates a profit. on the flip side, i assume what we dont spend this coming fianancial year can be carried over to the next one re FFP ?

It's not 'free' money though, is it? He's not trying to get a free ride off anyone, he just wants what he's owed. It's money they owe him that they never paid because the owners and manager ran the club into the ****ing ground. If anyone's to blame, it's the people running the club, not the bloke who they tried to swindle out of his wages.

I suppose you come down on the side of the banks in the PPI scandal? Or the side of the Tax-Man when he overcharges the average joe?

Yeah, Nugent is a rich man, but he'll be living a rich man's lifestyle commensurate to how much he's earning, so why should he forgo what he's entitled to? Also, in a couple of years his career will be over - that's a long time to be retired with zero income.

Even if he doesn't need the money - why on earth should he just give up what he's entitled to? He was offered a wage to do a job and his employers went back on what they promised, or couldn't keep the promises they made in the first place, why should he let them get away with that? I certainly wouldn't. I think it's extremely gracious of him to negotiate a much lower settlement, because I tell you - I'd be after the lot back off the thieving sneaky bastards. I personally don't blame the bloke one single bit.

I'd imagine David Nugent doesn't give a monkey's about what the people of Portsmouth think of him, considering he's got zero connection to the club, and I'm sure he's not too bothered about walking through the streets of Portsmouth, because it's a ****ing shithole.

But yeah, I'm sure you'd do the same if your employer went up the spout, you'd happily forgo your wages and then you'd be able to walk with pride and your head held high to the back of the dole queue.

I'd take two more signings...so it looks like Campbell and somebody else. That's fine for now, as far as permanent deals are concerned.

As others have said I'd except a few loan deals, but I think these will happen a few weeks before the season starts, Nige will want to know whose available and use pre season to see if he is still lacking anywhere.

I'd except a chunk of budget to be out a-side for January aswell, think that's when we'll do most of our spending... IF we have to!

MON spent most of his time complaining he didn't get the funds to bring in better players, so this all sounds a little questionable

Deep down we know this squad is not strong enough to survive in the prem and it looks like we are going to try and wing it and survive on what we have got . Ten years trying to get back with the big boys and we are now going to blow it because of lack of ambition. :(

Whilst we might meet FFP this year, lets not forget we would still post a big loss, as us meeting FFP counts on the owners meeting an £8m short fall with another cash input and £5m worth of costs don't count towards FFP according the the club. So that's still a £13m loss we could easily post this year.

Add to that bonus payments with some players getting 300k upwards, Pearsons bonus payments we all think he had. That could be another £5m in bonuses gone.

We're in talks with most of the squad about extensions, and whilst we are in the prem they are going to get decent wages if we want them to sign up. Without looking it up, wages for our last accounts were about £27m I think, now that might have come down a bit last season. But with all the automatic wage increases, wage rises in new contracts etc I think it's not inconceivable that we could add another £10m onto that before we even sign any players.

Because he's probably another a misery guts like all the others already pressing the panic button, the same sort who rubbish players after a few months, wrote off our chances before we kick a ball last season, slate every player we're linked with etc. It's pretty much the same people every time.

If I was owed money that a previous employer had agreed to pay me then yes I'd want it. Simple

Portsmouth had no problem being greedy and offering out stupid contracts

We should try to keep Nugent. On a salary commensurate with his ability and relative to the salaries of the other players. He's an important player for the club.

However, if he demands more than the club wish to pay (the club is more important than Nugent), then he should leave.

I aint explaining it again.

Bizarre how Bob Weasel got it straightaway when others didn't. I think some people simply like a row. Or they arent very bright? Dunno...

Yes Col, but look at who the others are! What else can you expect, when their mouth's operate before their brain?

My word you have a bob on yourself don't you ? When it comes to misery guts postings you are right up there with the best. All I ever read from your posts are snide remarks and a sense of know it all superiority. Judging by the amount of posts you have made this site is your whole life, bit sad that isn't it ?

Still people like you are two a penny and can be found on any site , lonely little keyboard warriors who are best ignored---So bye and ignored you will be.

Depending on how good these "two signings" are, if that's even true, which I doubt, I think we'll have a hard time next season with what we've got. I worry about our center halves, lack of a left back, and I know you hate hearing the term "proven goal scorer" and not every team that survives has one I know, but your certainly more likely to if you have one.
