Charl91 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 As I've said before, I'm more convinced that we'd beat QPR then Derby next season, so I'm happy that they went up. The extra points could make all the difference between relegation and staying in the prem another season.
Vlad the Fox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 The season is 38 games not 2. We will stay up or go down on merit not because of a local derby game. Agree with this. One team isn't going to make such a huge difference to our season. Plus I personally believe derby would have faired better than qpr who have a huge amount of work in turning a squad round that was barely good enough to get out the league without parking the bus.
Stadt Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 At last, some sense. Debating with MC really is like pulling teeth. #keyboardwarrior... I don't think you quite understand what a keyboard warrior is.Does Benoit Assou Ekoto looks like he gives a toss? Do these players at QPR look motivated and willing to win like our players do? Using the Play off final as an example isn't representative of how bothered a footballer is.
Dan Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Neutrals in the East Midlands will sway more to a top flight side than a second tier side. It would not benefit Leicester as a club if Derby were in the Premier League.
dayday Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 I think QPR will struggle big time next season ,with there debts they are hardly in a position to strengthen a ageing side.
Captain... Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 QPR have a massive find to contend with, if it wasn't for that I would have said they were more of a threat, but hopefully the fine will make them think twice before spunking another 40 million out of the owners back pocket. Some how they will need to massively rebuild on the cheap, because another expensive failure in the top flight followed by a season under ffp in the championship could ruin them.
Livid Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Apart from the hammering they took against us I was impressed with the way Derby played since McClaren took over. A good side but with a few key loanees who will probably now be on their way elsewhere. Qpr have stuttered along all season. Charlie Austin got injured and they wobbled. They looked like a team of individuals whose individual performances got the job done. Never really played as a team.
Babylon Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Difficult to call, there are decent shouts for both teams actually doing ok. Derby have been transformed under McClaren and he's got every ounce of talent of of that group, if he bought well there would have been a great chance for them to stay up and he proved himself to be tactically astute, well apart from when they played us of course. QPR are an aging team, but have a solid foundation. They are a tough nut to crack as we found out ourselves and are full of experience. Again, with some decent buys they could do ok. Out of the three going up, they are going to be the ones chucking about 100k a week again no matter how much they preach about 'learning lessons'. If we add some quality to the starting 11 as well as the squad (as we have been), then we have a head start as we were the better team by some distance.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Aren't I correct in saying that QPR will most likely ignore this incoming fine and continue as normal, paying vast sums and wages for the players they want with no regard to their own finances? FFP is enforced by the football league, but now QPR are Premier League, so enforcing a fine is going to be difficult for the FL. The PL won't get involved; their not going to threaten QPR with any sanctions for a crime/punishment they're not enforcing themselves. Any such fine is predicted to be £50m+ and so QPR will appeal and take it to the high sport courts if they feel necessary. It will become a long drawn out affair. Also I think the incoming fine is going to be based on their next accounts, which won't come out until the end of this year? So they'll still spend all the money they want this summer anyhow. By the time it's all sorted with appeals and such, it could well be nearing the end of the 14/15 season! So they might have to pay the fine towards the end of the coming season, after which their ability to invest in the team and (probably) stay up have already been secured. By which time shelling out for the fine is less of a hardship.
WhispyWizard Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 QPR will haveto shake their whole policy about signing overpaid or older players. The fact that Ferdinand has been linked with them already tells you that the media dont think they will change their policy and with Redknapp at the helm, hes not going to give a monkeys about whether a player is "value for money". Expect alot more overpriced mistakes again from them next season.
MooseBreath Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Old melting face redknapp will be sacked by crimbo having wasted his war chest on absolute dross. Their new manager whoever that may be will have a decent chance of rescuing them into a 16th, 17th place finish but that's not guaranteed, they could also do a cardiff and just get worse and worse. Derby meanwhil probably would have finished in a pretty reliable 14th or 15th. Hence QPR going up is for the best.

If Qpr are relegated they have to reapply to join the FL. The FL do not have to accept the application for any team but one owing 50mil lol As clubs have to reapply each year that is probably the reason clubs have not gone to court against FFP. Also it was the clubs that voted the rules in in the first place.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Just reading through alot of the comments etc how they are glad derby lost. Surely it would be better for us then QPR going up. I understand the whole local rivalry thing. But QPR have alot more buying power and influence over potential players coming in then derby. For me that means QPR have alot more chance of staying up then derby would of. which means one less space filled in the bottom three. Thoughts? Yes Col., I agree 100%. I was thinking exactly the same, and certainly they are better equipped than Derby, which make it harder for us. Their players mostly have that Premiership experience, and I can see them making some kind of impact noe, and have probably learnt from their previous campaign., and I think they will survive ok.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 The only one looking silly is the one with the constant and shortlived (one-year) defense of QPR because he put money on the team to win promotion and who then goes on acting silly by throwing his toys out of the pram when he is caught red-handed with own statements that contradict himself and statements in style he tends to hold up against others. Zamora went potty because he couldn't believe he had actually scored again. His third goal in 17 matches, what a return for a striker. Heck, who wouldn't go potty when faced with salvation from the tough league that is the Championship via playoff final? You exaggerate QPR's defensive capabilities and fail to mention how poor Derby were at creating chances. If QPR had give a **** all season, they wouldn't have finished fourth in the league table. Time will tell, and doubtless prove you wrong. You appear to be the one throwing your toys out of the pram, not Col.
Vicki Vixen Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 The hypocrisy on here is too much. People are happy to take a swipe at Dyche for mentioning money and Leicester in the same breath, yet QPR also spend money they don't have, however we are the good guys while they are evil and should rot in hell. Come on...

Come on... Probably because we stopped spending money and were clearly trying to get inline with FFP as soon as the rules were passed. On the other hand QPR when well over the FFP threshold decided to throw a bit more petrol on the fire and buy / loan a shit load more expensive players. Again... you know this how? Can we quote you in 6/7 months time? What incredible foresight. MattP..... I think this is where you bring up those old quotes you found
MooseBreath Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Again... you know this how? Can we quote you in 6/7 months time? What incredible foresight. Just a prediction buddy, didn't think anyone would need that pointing out tbh
Super hoop Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Hi all, as I've said before I understand why we are disliked by oppo fans, like yourselves under Sven. We. Have 18 players out of contract this season of which a max of 6 or 7 will be retained. This will slash our wage bill by well over 1 million a month. On top of this Remy will be sold for around 10 million and Taraabt for approx. 4 bringing in more money and further reducing the wage bill. Yes we will need to sign some players but our owner has learnt his lesson and will be more careful this time, or so he says!

Super hoop Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Luke Young, SWP, Stephan MBia, Andrew Johnson, Bobby Zamora, Yossi Benayoun, JS Park, J Jenas, Gary O'Neill, Aaaron Huges, Hogan Ephraim for a start.
This Charming Man Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 For some reason I've now got 6 less friends on Facebook The funny thing is that they're all Derby fans too........

So careful that he's put the club in a position where they need to buy basically a whole new squad for the premiership. Brilliant planning that. It's a trainwreck in the making. Can see harry splashing out big cash on all sorts of dross as he starts panicking when you've only got half a squad with weeks to go til kick off.

Blimey, you're pushing optimism to new highs: a) 6 or 7 players out of 18 will be let go - How much do you think it'll cost to put together a brand-new squad of 22+? They won't be coming cheap and they won't be coming a few. b) How sure are you that Rémy and Taarabt will be sold, and that for the amount of money you mention? With QPR's financial ramifications, I can't see this being an overly successful season to come. And you might as well lose your Wheeler Dealer to another PL club.
