Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 I went to London at the weekend so naturally this is on my mind, but it's as much inspired by the shaving threads. Bit of metal for the end of your shaver that cost £50, sir? That'll be £29.95, please. Post your examples of paying a lot for very little right here. I'll start the ball rolling: 2 x electric toothbrush heads - £8 2" (yes, inches) length of tunnel for catflap (a bit of p!lastic, basically, of which I needed about 6) - £8 1 x glass of coke in Le Jardin de Tuilieres, Paris - £8 Note, price of rip off item does not need to be £8, this is just a coincidence
One Legged Beaver Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 A club in Barcelona my mate bought a JD and coke for 12 Euros. The rest of us just decided to go for the cheaper 330 ml bottle of Corona for 8 Euros instead.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Went out in Paris with 4 mates about six years ago... "I'll get the first round lads... five rum and cokes please barman... SIXTY EUROS?!... Errr, you boys ok to chip in for this?!" Think I only had about 50 Euros on me for the whole night!
Trumpet Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Washing machine repair - £300. New washing machine - £200- 300.
MooseBreath Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Cars in general, thousands if not tens of thousands of pounds plus significant ongoing costs for a set of seats covered in metal being propelled forward by an engine.
Mikey Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Cinema. Costs the best part of a tenner at its cheapest nowadays. Used to be about £4 a few years back.
Stuliasz Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Pretty much any replica football shirt. £40 seems to be the standard for club shirts, must cost so little to make.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 June 2014 Author Posted 2 June 2014 Washing machine repair - £300. New washing machine - £200- 300. Pretty much any repair to an electrical appliance will invariably invoke cries of the world having gone 'to hell in a handcart' or somesuch these days Cars in general, thousands if not tens of thousands of pounds plus significant ongoing costs for a set of seats covered in metal being propelled forward by an engine. Like a total twat I paid £50 for two wiper blades from the dealership not that long ago, one of which hilariously fell to bits months in front of my very eyes only months later Boxer shorts. Scandalous! This is a good one. I was astonished the last time I bought some and I buy my undies from BHS. Lord knows what all you hipsters have to pay

You don't buy drinks in clubs in Spain, you get pissed before hand on the beach, then go to the club at 4 in the morning, amateur. As for rip offs: Estate agency fees, moving house (again) absolute rip off, and such bollocks to call my ex landlord and ask if I'm an ok tennant, call my boss to check I have the job and salary I say I do (surely a pay slip would do), £180 per person for 2 phone calls, one of which is completely unnecessary. Utter scum bags.
Captain... Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Cinema. Costs the best part of a tenner at its cheapest nowadays. Used to be about £4 a few years back. Cine World on a Tuesday £6.12 if you book online, Odeon in Leicester is £5 if you pay at the cinema on Tuesdays, Monday Madness at the Barbican (for Londoners) £6, 2 for 1Orange Wednesday (you must know someone who will get you a code), I'm sure many other deals are around anyone paying full price for the cinema is a div.
bovril Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Any pub in North Norfolk. Mobile phones. Anyone who regularly buys cigarettes. Looking cool is priceless.
Captain... Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Food and drinks at theme parks And photos, does my head in, it's a digital photo, if they offered you all your photos in digital format for a fiver, every party would buy it.
Stadt Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 And photos, does my head in, it's a digital photo, if they offered you all your photos in digital format for a fiver, every party would buy it.Yep, nobody wants to pay £11.50 for a photo that comes in a shitty plastic wallet that you'll put in a drawer for it to never be seen again.

I don't go often enough to think about all that. Just went the other day on a whim for the first time in about 2 and a half years and it had gone up quite a bit.
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Data on mobiles. I ran up a bill of nearly 400 quid in China and Australia and still managed 60 on 5 days in Spain. I'd love to know how much it actually costs the phone companies. I was going to say Beluga caviar as well but I don't want to be accused of humblebragging.

Well the EU are bringing in legislation to stop mobile companies ripping people off, hope Farage and co help vote it through for you...
Houdini Logic Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 The inevitable add ons when buying a ticket of any description. Call it an admin fee, arrangment fee, postage fee (when collecting!?!), handling fee, venue fee, booking fee or whatever else they can get away with.
