StanSP Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 If we wanted to get through that game injury free then we quite clearly picked the wrong opponents. We got bloody lucky to have no injuries last night. Are Honduras traditionally quite rough and nasty then?
80footgiraffe Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Boring game but I suppose conditions are still playing a factor, not that I'm trying to make excuses, but Rooney looked even more like a baked potato last night.
Babylon Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Why can't anyone see that more than anything the players just wanted to get through the game injury free, that 100% had a bearing on our performance. From the point they went off for rain you could tell they wanted to pack up and go home. So I'm taking nothing form the games, but we are technically so poor. The lack of ball control and composure is frightening.
Dr The Singh Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Real shit starts next week, the friendlies have shown us how tough it's going to be, if we want to get out of this group, we must up our game, yesterday second half we looked poor, the composure, passing and movement all over was poor, let's hope it was due to the circumstances of the match being a friendly and not wanting to over doo things, however Honduras will have took more joy out of the game then England!!
Dan Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Are Honduras traditionally quite rough and nasty then? I do wonder that. Either that or they've got something against England. No-one is telling me they weren't going out to hurt our players last night.

J.Lisemore Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Such a shame that on reputation alone, Wayne Rooney will start the game against Italy. The more we see him in an England shirt the worse he seems to get. He's clearly had/got the ability to be in our side, frustrating that he hardly ever seems to produce.
foxfanazer Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 That's the first time I've watched us where we really looked devoid of any ideas. The lack of creativity and urgency is alarming Yes you can say it was only a friendly but what was the point of that game really? We've learnt nothing positive and it can't fill the team with much confidence for next week

One of tge most overrated players I've seen
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 We were playing Miami for one reason only.....humidity. Unfortunately you don't get humidity without rain.

The only England manager to get the best of Rooney was of course Sven. Since Sven as left he's never been able to recapture that form in a england shirt. Some say Fergie ruined him, which i can't disagree with.

Grandad. Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Sven was the manager to get the best out of Rooney, that is true.
Soar Fox Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Leicesterpool has got a point regarding Rooney under Sven. He did seem to play better under him, though that was only in 2 tournaments. To be honest I wouldn't have Rooney starting on Saturday, but everyone knows that he will do and more than likely he'll be terrible and probably do something stupid & rash.

I think it had more to do with the fact he was young hungry in 04 and not an over paid tool who doesn't look after himself as much as he should do more than anything to do with any one manager.

You're probably right, back then Rooney was young & raw like Gazza in 1990 and Owen in 98. I genuinely believe if he didn't get injured in that tournament we would have won it. I would start Barkley ahead of him on Saturday as he has got the potential to do what Rooney did for us in 04.
