cambridgefox Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Me and a mate are in Leicester for Kasabian but are coming to Leicester on a Friday afternoon for ales and curry. Now a few of you know im not from Leicester and people from here kindly gave me a few pointers re Curry and places to stay earlier on in the year( Oadby nearest but fine with that) What we are looking for are pubs in town within walking distance, hopefully a few real ales but not critical few people about, but can also have a chat without shouting.Anyone is more than welcome to say hello and have a beer if they desire and laugh at our Fen meets London accents!
David Guiza Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I'd go with London Road (near the station) personally, a few up there with decent atmosphere and good ale.
Tommy G Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Rutland and Derby is brilliant. loads of ales to choose from and they have a roof terrace which is great in the summer
Mike Oxlong Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Go to to Dos Hermanos on Queens Road. Lovely little bar, crowd typically late 20s and up. Nice atmosphere and good beers. Barceloneta is the attached Tapas restaurant which is one if the best places to eat in Leicester IMO. And only 5 mins from Viccy Park too.

Absolutely this, I am deffo going to go for a drink in there. The decor is very nice inside and they do a good range of different beers.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I'd go with London Road (near the station) personally, a few up there with decent atmosphere and good ale. How busy are they going to be though? I love the Lansdowne but won't be braving it on Saturday. Probably be Taps for the long haul and some scran in there for me.
pSinatra Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I'm not going Kasabian, but I'll be in the Clarendon......because it's a Saturday. Like others have said, it's going to be heaving along London Road/Queens Road. The Clarendon isn't the smartest pub, but there's plenty of room & it's a 5 minute walk to Victoria Park. You will probably also bump into Alf Bentley for some political discussion!!
merlin1969 Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Best Curry house in Leicester is "The Curry Fever" it's on the golden mile close to the Loughborough Road turn off, 5 minute drive from the train station, been eating there for a long time and the food is exceptional, not cheap but you pay for what you get ..... I recommend " Methi Lamb" as a main dish, the lamb is out of this world !! Chicken/prawn puree for a starter and plenty of Cobra to wash it all down

Unabomber Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Think that I am going to spent most of the afternoon in the centre (taps, rutland and derby etc) and then hopefully have a couple in Dos Hermanos before the gig.
Voll Blau Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Is booze banned from Vicky Park as a rule (as in the park itself, not the arena)? Considering tinning up if it's a nice day. Loaded Dog, Old Horse, Landsdowne etc are all gonna be rammed all afternoon.
cambridgefox Posted 17 June 2014 Author Posted 17 June 2014 Cheers everyone. Will have a few Saturday, but my bigger night is the Friday afternoon and evening so can make a few of the ones that will be busy Saturday if they are worth it.

Jimothy Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Haven't we had a similar thread already? Not been to that pub, is it good?
ScouseFox Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 obviously not local so not in the know with everything but i always enjoy my pre game trip to the dry dock. mainly cos it's a boat but a pub. a pub shaped like a boat. a boat shaped pub, literally as far away from any coast possible.

I always thought it was a Leicester thing but found another in Leeds.
Parafox Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Not been to that pub, is it good? Only if you enjoy your own company. Moosebreath would LOVE it.
