If I have to listen on radio it's Radio 5, which is OK apart from that obseqious nob, Alan Green. If not it's BBC TV.

ITV is shite, why they have got Adrian (I think I'm so witty) Chiles on the presenting panel I don't know. And with a few exceptions the pundits are barely able to speak English. Not to mention those grindingly awful gambling ads with Ray "mockney" Winstone

Talk Sport... occasionally enertaining but mostly just people shouting at each other interspersed with more annoying radio ads for blokey things like building products or skip hire.

These are just my opinions, what's yours?

Coverage is always better when you can actually see the sport. Therefore radio cannot compare. Watch it with mute if you have to.

In terms of television, BBC is so much worse than it used to be, not helped by the fact they've lost the great commentators they had in a bygone age, but for other reasons too. Having said that it is still miles better than the terrible ITV, which is as amateurish as it gets. It may as well be a kids show. Clive Tyldesley is beyond unbearable.

ITV is utterly abysmal with the exception of 1 or 2 decent pundits. BBC is much, much better. Not listened to a game other than 20 minutes or so of one in the car so can't vote for that, myself. Doubt many people would listen to a game on 5 live when it's on television, even if ITV is abysmal.

I agree BBC used to be better than it is now, they need to get rid of Clark Carlise, but it's still streets ahead of ITV. Somehow I hate Adrian Childes even more than did at the start of the tournament, when it comes to irritability the bloke never seems to stop upping his game.

I watch on TV whenever I can but working shifts means I have to listen on radio. (sod the patients)! So I have accessed all 4 at some point.

Agree with the comments about Adrian Chil(d)es and Clive Tyldesley

Agree with your Alan Green statement, the guy is such a know-it-all gobshite. Other than that 5 Live has a decent commentary / pundit line-up.

BBC for the TV coverage all day long.

You can have BBC TV with Radio 5 live commentary can't you?

Tim Vickery has totally destroyed the myth about needing to play the game to have a valid opinion in punditry. Fantastic insight and can offer far, far more about South American football than most of the former player pundits.

Great to listen to.

Can't pinpoint what it is but there is something about Tim Vickery that is very odd. Knowledgeable nonetheless.

Anyone else noticed that Alan Green, with his Norn Irn accent , occasionally refers to England as 'we' and 'us'.

Weird.

Bbc for me. Actually quite like Rio Ferdinand as a pundit too. Wasn't sure he'd be any good whatsoever but he's pretty good and seems to say what he thinks not the usual generic bob or pedantic drivel about one bit of a movement from one player like the old guard of match of the day e.g Hansen etc

BBC 1 easily. They're 'OK' so they're a mile ahead of ITV already.

This. One of the pleasant surprises of the World Cup so far.

lol I thought this was what somebody was replying to your point about there being something off about Tim Vickery.

Prefer BBC pundits by a fine margin and but itv commentary has been much better. Jonathan Pearce has had a complete mare with idiotic comments and generally being inexplicably miserable all the time, putting a real downer on games. Itv have been a lot better than usual. Don't mind chiles as much as others seem to. Their pundits are pretty much just as good as BBC, only the presence of our Gary edges it. Overall I'd say I actually prefer itv a little more for the first time ever.

The answer is BBC, it still has its annoying *****, but at the end of the day ITV is ITV and Adrian Chiles is Adrian Chiles and Adverts are Adverts.

The BBC have good pundits/presenters in the studios for HT/FT analysis.

All of the match commentators are beyond shit though. They always buy the diving and injury feigning and it just pisses me off so much. Clive needs to be put in a home and Pearce needs to go back to robot wars. It says a lot when Mark Lawro is my favourite commentator.

ESPN in the USA kicks the crap out of both BBC and ITV. Seriously wish I hadn't come back from holiday to put up with this crap.
