With you on this one Col.

The game may be a little slower as teams probe more and look for openings.

But the players themselves know how to move.

I think cos it is not none stop end to end football and teams are a little cautious some people think the players are slow.

Would like to see times for all players over 60mtrs from first 11's prem and championship.

My money would be on more prem players in the top 50 than championship. Oh and not buy just the odd one or two.

For those folks who believe that the pace in the Prem is somehow 'slower' well in one way it is... its more calculating, its not kick-and-rush and its not always end to end. Where its quicker is when spaces start to open. Then, if you don't match the runs, you're in trouble.

I think the first 6 games may open people's eyes a little. In the Championship, the likes of Knocky can fall on his ass, give the ball away and we will usually be ok. Drinkwater or James will quickly see what's happening and will 'mop up'. In the Prem, if we give the ball away cheaply, we will get hurt far more frequently.

On average, Prem players are more fleet of foot, fitter and, maybe most importantly, quicker in their thinking. Spaces are sought and the ball moved into them in a flash. We have to match it.

That's where players like Gally would struggle. Going forward, he may be ok, DEFENSIVELY, he'd be found out time and time again.

To be fair ala the contract, we promised him the world and then dropped almost immediately after. We damn near killed his career, we have certainly killed his ambition for ever being a prem striker now. If I was him I'd milk us for what we have too.

Good player in the era we had him playing regular, scored some great goals. As already mentioned though he couldn't tackle and wouldn't be able to keep up with our new pace.

Good luck Paul.

Wish we could have offloaded him on a pernament basis. I loved him from 2009 to 2011 as he was quality for us. Technically he's a good player but lacks pace, strength and commitment. Gallagher is a L1 player at best.

Saves him being unhappy here and sulking here. It's best for all parties - Gallagher gets football, we pay less of his wage, even if it's only between £5-10k less, and Preston get a player they want who is familiar with the club.

And his contract runs out next summer so I don't get why people wouldn't be happy.

Not saying it is not a good thing it is.

What I am saying is it's only a loan and a bad injury and he will be back.

Had we sold/given him away and was off our books totally fine but he is not.

He is still a drain on our finances just a little less than he was last week and will be for another year.

Yet some are talking like he has gone for good.

Agree the whole contract thing was not his fault (Bloody Sven!) but am glad to see the back of him as never really rated him that much and he was grossly overpaid and overrated. Hated how he would do naff all throughout a game and then score a wonder goal and snatch the headlines. One more year with him on the books now but good luck to him nonetheless.

Gally seems to polarise opinions, but I thought he did his best for us and scored some important goals. I liked his penalty style.

IMO, he was technically sound, but was never able to impose himself on the opposition. Izzet, Lennon, Drinky and James all bossed / boss games, but Gally was too weak in his tackling and thinking. I am sure he will do well for PNE, good luck and thanks.

Spot on, Technically very gifted as his Goals proved but lacked the bottle in challenges or 50/50s which prevented him from having a premiership career. He did score some cracking goals for us though.

We wasted this guy. he was a promising young striker when we picked him up and we then never played him as a striker. Technically one of the best players we've had in a very long time, creative and scored some very good goals. I agree he

needs to move on now, his time has come and gone, but I don't

understand the slagging him off, we were as much to blame for

wasting him as he may have been for wasting the chance.

agree with this. Personally liked Gallagher

I think that people seem to be suffering from the he hasn't played so his stock goes up syndrome. Yes he scored some worldies but like Ben Marshall for every match winning performance there were 5 or 6 ineffectual, can't-be-arsed and will not tackle performances beforehand. We have not wasted his talent. He has. One of the most gifted players we have had in the last 10 years and since he signed that contract has done **** all to justify the wage he was given. Do I blame him for getting the wage, of course not but I do dislike the way he has done nothing to earn it since.

Waste of talent and good riddance.

Brfc24 I think is Gallagher himself. Made the account 5 years ago when he would of been 24, hence brfc24. I think for him to say it's his brother in law is bullshit.

Good luck at PNE Paul ..

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Please don't send me foul mouthed private messages and then come up with rubbish like this on the public forum. You sound thick as shit and I bet you lower the IQ of the street in Orlando lol

Not consistent enough, he was capable of match winning performances and fantastic goals but in the matches he didn't perform it was like having 10 men because he was lazy, weak in the tackle and in the air plus he was agonisingly slow.

But his moments of brilliance were exactly that, has anybody got a link to the Scunthorpe 5-1 game? The back header was great.
