Finnaldo Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 It's a shame really. Gallagher was a solid member of the team in Pearson's first tenure, but after the 'Sventracts' he's been demonised by some Leicester fans. Did nothing wrong here, played well when he started but when he lost it as he got on people blamed him for the massive contract Sven awarded him. Same happened for Wellens, and I hope he gets on well for the remainder of his career.
MC Prussian Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Found his level. He was close to playing Championship football with Preston last season and did more than just well for them. I think they've got a decent shot at promotion again this time around - I wish him all the best and hope he'll be a revelation for North End once more.
Captain... Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Good bye Gally, great goals and some important ones too, doesn't deserve the stick he gets, but also doesn't deserve a place in the squad. He doesn't suit our high pressing lots of energy and harrying from the front style, and we can't afford a luxury player not putting a shift in despite some awesome goals from nothing. Good luck Paul, and thanks for the spectacular goals.
BoyJones Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Gally seems to polarise opinions, but I thought he did his best for us and scored some important goals. I liked his penalty style. IMO, he was technically sound, but was never able to impose himself on the opposition. Izzet, Lennon, Drinky and James all bossed / boss games, but Gally was too weak in his tackling and thinking. I am sure he will do well for PNE, good luck and thanks.
Father Ted Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Yes, some great memories such as his brace vs Palace, hat trick vs Scunthorpe and free kick vs Forest but I will never have any respect for a man who has acted in the way he has. Responding to fans on twitter with 'Still got two years left on my contract ££££££££££' .... I think his intentions were clear. Bellend. People complain about the money footballers earn and their greed, he epitomises that.
MPH Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Gallagher's problem was his wage rise. He isn't a terrible player. Just not good enough for us. It's not like he had a bad attitude or anything either. Not sad to see him go but not happy either. Goodbye, Paul. Thanks for THAT tweet.

Arsehole fans make players like respond like that.

He's a professional. No professional who has their employer's best interests at heart would respond like that. It was moronic to the highest levels.
Corky Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Has there ever been a less popular player who has scored so many sensational goals? Most will be pleased to see him go yet his highlight reel will be up with the best.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 I get the feeling if Nige treated these sort of players like Vardy and get the best out of them they'd have been an absolute force right now Behave! He did the best out of Gallagher, as did Sven; unfortunately his best was always upper mid table in the second tier.
ScouseFox Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Shows how greedy he is that he's not willing to join them permanently. We're obviously paying some of his wage. if someone said you could do a job for £30k a week or do the same job for £5k a week what would you do? greed or common sense?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 OH IVE GOT A YOUNG FAMILY I CAN SUPPORT INCREDIBLY WELL WHILE SETTING UP FUTURE GENERATIONS AFTER IVE PASSED ONBRB JUS REALISED IM GREEDY OFF TO PRESTON FULL TIME TO DO THE SAME THING FOR CONSIDERABLY LESS CYA what gally shouldve thought © - Andy King's Crown Jewels
broughtonblue Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Think with the slower pace of the prem he could have been a real force for us, best passer and dead ball specialist at city for many a year.
ScouseFox Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 i personally think he should give everything we've paid him back to the fans because that'd be the right thing to do
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 I remember that cracking hat trick he scored two or three season ago. Bloody brilliant! Only the dick heads on here are slagging him off. Good luck Paul, and thanks.

sylofox Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Not sure why people seem so happy about this deal. He will return in may un till his contract is up. I would also be suprised if PNE are paying more than 5k a week of his huge wage. Also if he picks up an injury that puts him out he will return and we will pay him. Not really a great deal just means he won't be moping round our training ground wondering how soon he can get on the golf coarse.
Bettsj2 Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Would have suited the prem as an impact sub. Shame as at 29, he'll be at his peak. Another Pearson mistake.

It's best for all parties - Gallagher gets football, we pay less of his wage, even if it's only between £5-10k less, and Preston get a player they want who is familiar with the club. And his contract runs out next summer so I don't get why people wouldn't be happy.
