leicsmac Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 As far as this goes in the world of realpolitik, I sincerely hope that cooler heads prevail and there is some kind of diplomatic resolution. Because escalation will end in only one thing. Everyone loses.
johnny the fox Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Its been reported 2 newcastle fans were on board on their way..to see them play in new zealand.
Haydos Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Putin playing the blame game again. No official source on how many US passengers on board, this could get a lot worse before it gets better.
GingerrrFox Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Things like this are often related to money and power. It's hard to not think the increasing tension with Russia has something to do with the BRICS bank.

And gas... the EU ruled that the Eastern European countries must stop work on South Stream after the Ukrainian crisis.
Leeds_Fox95 Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 How old the western park lad? I grew up there He'd of been 20/21 now? Year older than me at school. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bovril Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 I don't really know why journalists and witnesses need to tweet or write that there are bodies everywhere and describe the damage done in such gruesome detail. It's pretty obvious what will happen to bodies in a plane crash and it just smacks of gore porn again.
SamW Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 I don't understand why some papers are questioning the pilot, claiming he was 'depressed'. He was flying through unrestricted airspace at 33,000 feet, so a surface-to-air missile would only travel that far if the Ukranians had been targeting something. It only happened a day ago and already there are people speculating, for me it's too soon and I'm sure there are still some families waiting for news.

I haven't seen any reports about the mental fitness of the crew relating to this aircraft. Are you sure the reports aren't confusing the missing MH370 aircraft. Mental state good or bad, I don't think it would make much difference in this case if the aircraft was shot down with a sophisticated and deadly weapon.
RonnieTodger Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Lost one of our own on that flight. Found out through Facebook, twitter, text messages etc that a lad that I went to school with in Market Bosworth was on that plane. He was travelling over to Aus for whatever reason and nor did he get there but he won't be coming home either. Sickening and heart breaking that it's somebody I know. Was really good friends with his brother and it's his birthday today, imagine having to deal with that on your mind on your birthday every year. So so tragic. He was from Western Park area, a really nice, polite lad. So popular with everyone who knew him, a real credit to himself and his family. Thoughts are with his family and close friends. Hope he rests in peace. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I used to play with him at Kirby Juniors few years ago. Can't imagine what his family are going through.
Leeds_Fox95 Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 He was a student in Leeds as well apparently according to the independent. Gutting how you loose touch and then something like this happens. Puts it in perspective Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest MattP Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 I can't see WW3 happening anytime soon though, US can't afford another war and Europe have got itself into a position where everyone is completely reliant on Russian gas. More likely it will force the International agreement to see the East of Ukraine given a choice of whether they want to rejoin Russia or remain part of the orginal state. I still think instead of pushing them, arming them and giving them intelligence the EU and its ilk should have just waited a year so the Ukrainians could have democratically removed the government rather than overthrow it which has caused this whole situation in the first place. (not saying Putin is innocent since, but he wouldn;t have be able to annex Crimea etc after that)Either way Putin holds the aces, he has played Obama, Cameron etc for fools and outwitted them at every point since they wanted to go into Syria. (which ironically now looks good considering we would have been arming ISIS)

Politicians are puppets for the likes of the Bilderberg group and if they want Russian expansion stopped they will do it.

GingerrrFox Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Didn't seem to have much trouble annexing the Crimea. Yeah but that was before they decided to form a new bank to rival the likes of Rockefeller, Rothschild etc. Putin is running a risky game but if you start seriously challenging the established elite in money and oil they aren't likely to sit back and watch for long.

BRIC was formed about 4-5 years ago wasn't it? edit: I didn't even realise it was 'BRICS' now, no idea South Africa had even been invited into it, either way I think it's a bit far fetched to be involved here, to be fair I'd probbaly be backed Russia and China if the Bilderberg group and their puppets decided to take them on.
lgfualol Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Absolutely heartbreaking. I'm sick of people murdering each other. It is ****ing sickening.
bovril Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Absolutely heartbreaking. I'm sick of people murdering each other. It is ****ing sickening. Yep. You'd think we'd be beyond all this by now. We really are a sorry race. You can blame it on anything - oil, power, money, religion but ultimately it's just a person who gives the orders or fires the missile that kills hundreds or thousands of people.

Apparently threats of dumping US treasury bonds onto the market have been made.
lgfualol Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Wow since I clicked on this thread all the adverts when browsing on my phone are for flight insurance. Not very affectionate

I hate this boring tripe. We're an incredible race and the amount of good people I come across far outweighs the bad and bad news gets reported where good news won't be. How many people remember Chesley Sullenberger who saved over 150 people landing that plane on the Hudson? Yes bad things happen, but get the fvck over it and stop tarring everyone with the same brush.

Haydos Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Fair enough. I wasn't trying to be a dick, sorry if it came across that way. It just bugs me. TERRORISTS WIN!
MooseBreath Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 When you've lived all your life in a peaceful, prosperous country like the UK I think it's hard to conceive of the downward spiral of events that can lead to people feeling fully justified in killing each other, but it happens.
Collymore Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 I just cant see how anybody can make such a big mistake. Anybody with a smart phone can see that is a passanger jet or even just with a decent pair of binocs! Who the **** gave the orders and why wern't they questionned?
