Mike Oxlong Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 You don't get the riff-raff that one tries to avoid on the Narborough Road and it's environs.
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 Are we going to have a thread for every Street in Leicester?
Nalis Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 Are we going to have a thread for every Street in Leicester? Yes
Mike Oxlong Posted 26 July 2014 Author Posted 26 July 2014 It's the cheese to Narborough Road's chalk - Leicester's other end of the spectrum. Actually, their are some fine food and retail businesses on Allandale Road and Francis Street. The Deli Cafe on the corner of the two does great food and with their sofas and free Wi fi it's a great little place to chill.
pSinatra Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 Are we going to have a thread for every Street in Leicester? Did you know there's a Leicester Tourist Centre on Every Street in Leicester?
BoyJones Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 Allandale Road used to be very good, but going downhill at the moment. I visit Roberto at Timo most weeks, but the number of empty shops keeps increasing. Including the street round the corner there are at least 12 empty shops which is beginning to give the area a run down air. I think Queens Road is taking over, with plenty of eateries (although most pretty average) plus the Clarendon is getting popular again. Ps when I worked for Barclays we had an ATM on Every street in Leicester!
ScouseFox Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 The butchers on allendale road is the business. (If I'm thinking of the right place and it's still there)
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 You can smell the smug of Allandale road folk around the entire county.
Soup Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 Queens Road beats it IMO ThisAnd Mushroom lives there,so if its good enough for him its good enough for me.
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 I think what will be proved after we have covered nearly all the roads in Leicester is that all roads in Leicester are nice but some are nicer than others.

You might want to review this statement, Saffron Lane??? Hand Avenue?? Barkby Road?? Aylestone Road?? Gypsy Lane?? So many... so-o-o-o-o many
Rincewind Posted 26 July 2014 Posted 26 July 2014 I was semi parodying a well known quote. All animals are equal but some are more equal than others.' MB favourite book I think.
Webbo Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 When I was at college in the early 80s we sometimes used to go there at dinner. There were shops then selling jumpers for £120 each. I wouldn't pay that for a suit, now.
Mike Oxlong Posted 27 July 2014 Author Posted 27 July 2014 I like Queens Rd but for two thirds of the year it is infested with Uni types. Nothing against them generally but if the recent documentary filmed at Leicester Uni is to be believed a fair few of them are mobile STD hives.

OriginalRobboFOX Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 Queens Road > Allandale Road Would say this as I run a shop there. Decline of Allandale Rd started when they put parking machines down there and trade stayed away. Since they've been taken away it's not as busy as it used to be.

MPH Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 Are we going to have a thread for every Street in Leicester? Must admit, its not very big... but you do see some homeless people on it.....
Webbo Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 You can get a suit for less then £120 ?? If I can't I'll get the wife to knit me one.
lavrentis Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 If I can't I'll get the wife to knit me one. So there are benefits to marriage then
