dorsetboy Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 we were very short on the bench today and i know we had injuries but we get them all season . do you think nigel will push the board (although they may already have noted themselves after seeing the bench) to maybe up the bids for players we want ie slimani, deeney etc etc to get them in . proud of the lads today and very pleased for andy king especially
Chrysalis Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I think this game will make us be more agressive in chasing signings yes, whether that means pushing up bids for existing targets tho no idea. I think its midfield and defense we need signings, yet we bidding for strikers.
Webbo Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 We're short of cover in the middle. Even if we sign Cambiasso he won't be fit enough to go straight into the team. I think we'll be signing a couple of young loanees from the top 4 teams.
Aus Fox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 The commentator over here at the start said we only had 16 fit outfield players, if that's true we do need some investment, surely big Nige is working on it. I heard Cambiasso is having his medical and will sign tomorrow.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I do feel that Pearson has left it very late, and someone will have to enter some hefty figures in their cheque book. It could be that fees will be inflated, but will have to be met. Just an opinion though.

The approaching deadline might do, though....
Aus Fox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 you've heard that Cambiasso is having his 150th medical and signing 2morrow! must be Legit then It is someone on twitter told me, it was confirmed in the cambiasso thread , page 83.

I think we'll be signing a couple of young loanees from the top 4 teams. Didn't NP say that he didn't want to loan players from the prem?

It could be that fees will be inflated, but will have to be met. Just an opinion though. I think you'll find it's that things haven't worked out as planned, agents pissing around, being rejected, but that's the way it goes as a newly promoted team, as highlighted by Holloway last year with Palace.
sdb Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I think RB and CM have suddenly become big priorities
65RosesFox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 In his interview with Stringer he said it's evident we need more signings and mentioned attacking players.
Buzzell Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 We deffinately need to strengthen the squad. With James and Drinkwater out we need sufficient cover in the midfield. Hoping the Cambiasso deal gets finalised soon and hopefully a few more to follow after that.
stevelcfc Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Even if Cambiasso signs he's going to be at least 4 weeks off match sharp.
kingfox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Hopefully Cambiasso get's completed soon. I think other positions are more of a priority over a new striker, Slimani would be a bonus but right now he is not essential. Cambiasso, a couple of defenders & maybe a winger. Wouldn't mind if there a couple of loans.
cc_star Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 The bids are already upped enough, crazy money! 4 key players to come back in Albrighton, Vardy, James & Drinkwater who missed bulk of game. King & Hammond stood in well, King incredible really and this should be further strengthen by Cambiasso. Obvious we're in for a forward too, Watford rejecting £10m rising to £12m is the 2nd craziest thing I've heard (the craziest being us bidding it in 1st place) Pearson talked about new arrivals, so should be some movement this week but if not, we more than held our own against the 5th best team in the country with 40% of our outfield players not on the pitch
cc_star Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I think RB and CM have suddenly become big priorities A RB? Why, because Knockaert played utter turd, is glacially slow & Baines took the piss out him & doubled up with Pienaar on an uncovered de Laet for a 20min spell that cost us two goals from that flank
kingfox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 A RB? Why, because Knockaert played utter turd, is glacially slow & Baines took the piss out him & doubled up with Pienaar on an uncovered de Laet for a 20min spell that cost us two goals from that flank We don't have any competition for De Laet. Wasilewski proved last season he isn't good enough anymore at RB, and give how Moore has played at CB especially today, he should be starting alongside Wes every week.
Nalis Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Obvious we're in for a forward too, Watford rejecting £10m rising to £12m is the 2nd craziest thing I've heard (the craziest being us bidding it in 1st place) Bit like when Newcastle rejected a £30m bid for Carroll before he finally went for £35m. Surely there's a better option abroad for £10m if that Deeney bid is true??
65RosesFox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 2 c mids and a l back are priorities imo Two CM's after the two that filled in today, who couldn't get in to the team last season, more than held their own and proved they have quality and can perform at the top level against kast seasons 5th best team in the Prem. One more CM, a DCM yes, and that's more than enough DD James King Hammond Cambiasso (maybe) Then i think we need a centre back if Upson is out for 3 months, then another winger and another striker (slimani) and i'd be happy.
ADK Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I don't see that we need that much. Dyer and Phillips have left and replaced by Albrighton and Ulloa. We can't sign players every time we have a few injuries, they need to be part of a long term plan.
Richard Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Stringer mentioned that Wood decided to stay an fight for his place here, does that mean he rejected Wolves? I was under the impression that a fee wasn't agreed
cjslcfc Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I think Nigel specifically said in his post match interview that he will now be looking to make a few more additions and will probably try to accelerate the Cambiasso deal. Probably means we will play less hardball. But we need to get it done and Nigel seems to be saying we are going to go for it.
