Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 19 August 2014 Posted 19 August 2014 No offence to Vardy, I have a lot of respect for the guy, but Kasper was the best signing of the summer by far! As much as I love Kasper, I think it'd be far harder to find another Vardy than another great keeper - and if we did he'd cost a hell of a lot more than £1m. I'm just happy we've tied them all down now - are there any left to extend?
Raw Dykes Posted 19 August 2014 Posted 19 August 2014 Fantastic news. Was a little bit worried about this, as it was taking so much longer than Drinkwater, Moore, James, etc. took to sign their new contracts. It really is Roy of the Rovers stuff. Non-League to Premier in just 2 seasons. Will he be able to make the step up? I really can't see why not. He's already made a huge jump of 3 divisions after one year of settling in. This leap isn't anywhere near as far. He's rapid, and there really aren't too many players with his energy and workrate. Can't wait to have him back in the team.
benpicko Posted 19 August 2014 Posted 19 August 2014 I reckon this only leaves De Laet and King to sign and the entire squad is on new or long contracts? Great for the future! Knockaert?
MattGamble92 Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 Just something as simple as his tireless work rate and pace to close down defenders was missed on Saturday. Think that alone will create us numerous openings this season. While QPR continue to relentlessly spend and gain all the pundits backing, our contract renewals give me huge confidence in not only finishing above them this season, but for the next few years UP THE FOXES
docho66 Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 It is only De Laet and Knockaert who haven't signed new contracts. I think this is a way to ensure that if we go down this season, we won't lose our key players for small sums of money. In Nigel we trust!
LCCFox96 Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 Great news. He seems a popular figure in the dressing room so it will be a big boost for the players and fans a like. Really pleased for him as well because he deserves his opportunity.
CPW22 Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 Pleased he has signed, pace will be key this year and with Schlupp + Vardy in the same 11 it will be looking good.
foxfanazer Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 Pleased he has signed, pace will be key this year and with Schlupp + Vardy in the same 11 it will be looking good.Schlupp doesn't have anything to go with the pace unfortunately. Vardy is clever with it
Stadt Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 I thought he was shit, I thought he was a waste of money and he wouldn't make it at the championship but two years later I couldn't be more wrong. Well done Jamie and well done Nigel.

Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 I'm looking forward to him having a crack at some of the overrated prem defences

Vlad the Fox Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 Fantastic news such an important player for us. Completely unrelated but can anyone help as I'm on holiday with limited Internet. I'm trying to get arsenal tickets for the kids on the lcfc direct site but they aren't conning up, is it a sell out? Thanks.
Thracian Posted 20 August 2014 Posted 20 August 2014 Schlupp doesn't have anything to go with the pace unfortunately. Vardy is clever with it Schlupp has lots of things to go with his pace and a some showed up clearly enough even against high-grade Premiership opponents Everton. The same match also showed particular things he needs to improve but, happily, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to make those improvements.

"Demand for tickets to Leicester City’s mouthwatering Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday 31 August sees King Power Stadium rapidly approaching sell-out status. The only seats now remaining are single tickets in the Family Stand, meaning other areas of the stadium are now completely sold out." You can however get a hospitality package for the bargain price of just £175 per person

I think this is a way to ensure that if we go down this season, we won't lose our key players for small sums of money. In Nigel we trust! How d'you know there aren't release clauses tied up in these contracts though? I can't imagine the likes of Drinkwater (for instance) being content to sign for four years without the assurance he'd be playing at the top level. Just because we've tied these players down it doesn't necessarily mean they'll be leaving for big money.
indierich06 Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Any news on whether Vards will be fit for Arsenal? I would love to see him running at Arse's defence.
Corky Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Any news on whether Vards will be fit for Arsenal? I would love to see him running at Arse's defence. He was in full training so I'd assume he'll be in the squad.
davieG Posted 10 September 2014 Posted 10 September 2014 Premier League is a "dream come true" for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy By Mercury_Sport | Posted: September 10, 2014 Jamie Vardy is in contention for a starting place for Leicester City against Stoke this Saturday Comments (0)Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has a taste for the Premier League after fulfilling his lifetime dream against Arsenal. The 27-year-old came on as a second-half substitute against the Gunners in the 1-1 draw, for his first taste of life at English football's top table. After a frustrating start to the season because of a niggling thigh injury, Vardy says he is now fully recovered and is hungry for more Premier League action when City take on Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday. “It was good to get on the pitch and get it working, and hopefully now that injury is over,” he said. “It is horrible being on the sidelines. You never like watching. You want to be on the pitch and involved, helping your team-mates out. “Now I am back fully fit and I hope it continues in that way. “It was frustrating. We just had to make sure I was 100 per cent over that. “I have been working with Dave Rennie, our physio, putting in a few explosive sprints but I came through that okay and hopefully it is all over now. “It is annoying but you can’t rush these things or you could come back and it goes again and then you are out for even longer. “The waiting game was hard but it is worth it.” Vardy admits he has to pinch himself to believe he is actually playing in the Premier League. Just over two years ago, he was playing in the Conference with Fleetwood Town having spent his entire career in non-league football. Facing the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, who are the next visitors to the King Power Stadium, is a dream he feared he would never fulfill, but now he is determined to make the most of it. “It is a dream come true,” he said. “I would have laughed at you two years ago if you said I would be facing Arsenal in the Premier League. I never thought it would happen but luckily it has. “We had a good season and that is why we are in the Premier League. We just want to stay there now.” Vardy says the City players are full of belief they can survive this season. “I am confident but you have to take each game as they come and, hopefully, we will start picking up three points and keep ourselves in the Premier League,” he added. “That is what everyone at the club wants and we are confident we can achieve that. “I think everyone wrote us off when they looked at our opening fixtures. “We know ourselves how good we can be and confidence is high. We are disappointed to only have two points.” Read more: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Premier-League-dream-come-true-Leicester-City/story-22904896-detail/story.html?#ixzz3CvgMkeKu Follow us: @Leicester_Merc on Twitter | leicestermercury on Facebook Read more at http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Premier-League-dream-come-true-Leicester-City/story-22904896-detail/story.html?#2q22VBvRt76ThCGC.99
Stadt Posted 10 September 2014 Posted 10 September 2014 I thought the ball on the sponsor board was real for a second
lgfualol Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 It's been a month.. Too early to extend the contract? The others will come flying in if he continues like this.
foxfanazer Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 Absolutely terrorised them today. A joy to watch this lad
