Vardy Signs! CONFIRMED

Brilliant news. If Long is worth £12m after scoring 23 goals in 97 games (sure a lot of them would be cup goals against lower level teams as well) since 2011 then Jamie Vardy will be worth £25m+ at the end of the year.

Hopefully.

We just need him fit and performing as he did last season.

Just hoping the step up is not going to make him look like he did in his first season.

makes decent sense - if he has a good season in the premiership he will become a valuable (& saleable) asset to the club which I'm sure is a plank of the financial strategy - McCormack for £11 million , Long for £12 or Vardy - I know who I would break the bank for

I'd take a punt on Long for £12 all day long

come on, what the hell lets be arrogant...4pts after 2 games why not..

A few years ago I was in a nightclub in Loughborough, at the end of the night I went up to a random girl from the group outside and said "Hello m'dear, I want you to smell my finger". At first a look of "who's this weirdo". I can you now 30 minutes later we were making love back at hers. 28 minutes of that was walking, stopping in the bushes occasionally for a kiss and a cuddle. The point I'm making is it was a great turnaround. A bit like Vardy. Amen

Think Pearson has the Southampton situation in mind when issuing these 4 year contracts. We don't want to establish ourselves only to have players nicked for small fees. If it happens at least long contracts mean we can command high transfer fees and re-build.

This is cracking news. He was just behind Drinkwater in POTS for me last year and think his pace will frighten defenders. Really looking forward to seeing him and Ulloa play together.

Can't wait until he's back. As well as being a threat up front, we could have him play behind the striker and hound the opposition's holding midfielder the same way that Ruiz did to Pirlo at the World Cup. He's the only player in the squad with the energy to do that.

Leicester City Football Club is delighted to announce that Jamie Vardy has signed a new contract with the Club, keeping him at King Power Stadium until June, 2018.
Vardy, 27, becomes the latest in a series of key players to commit his future to the Foxes, having played a significant role in the Club’s promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

The Sheffield-born striker has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top flight of English football, having helped fire Fleetwood Town to the Football Conference title just over two years ago.

Since joining Leicester in the summer of 2012, Vardy has scored 21 times in 70 appearances, including 16 goals in the Foxes’ march to the Football League Championship title in 2013/14.

Jamie told lcfc.com: “I’m over the moon. We all know that the Club wants to keep improving and stay in the Premier League, and I definitely want to be a part of that.

“Everyone knows the way that I’ve come back into football [from non-league], and we managed to get promoted last season, but now it’s all about making sure that we stay in the Premier League.

“Nigel Pearson brought me here and he wants the Club to maintain their Premier League status. He was a big influence [on me signing a new deal] and now I’ve just got to repay him on the field.”

Vardy’s pace, aggression and quality in front of goal were major assets to City during last season’s unforgettable Championship triumph – a campaign which saw him named Players’ Player of the Year by his Foxes team-mates.

His 16 goals for the campaign included a tone-setting winner at Middlesbrough on the opening day, a season-defining strike in a 1-0 win at Queens Park Rangers in December and a streak of five goals in four games during February and March that took the Foxes out of the reach of the chasing pack.

Vardy joined City from Fleetwood Town in July 2012, having scored 34 goals for the Cod Army in their surge into the Football League during the previous season.

He scored prolifically in non-league football for both Stocksbridge Park Steels and Halifax Town before signing for Fleetwood in the summer of 2011.

Vardy joins Danny Drinkwater, Matty James, Liam Moore, Wes Morgan, David Nugent, Jeff Schlupp, Kasper Schmeichel, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Marcin Wasilewski in signing new terms since City secured promotion to the Premier League in April.

Those shots of him with the scarf. Were they from when he first signed?..

Looked like a right scruff haha

Yep.

No idea why they've used that footage.

With Vardy though, it becomes a moot point. He may be 27 but because he's only been playing league football for a couple of years, he's going to keep getting better and better. Its more like he's a 24 year old really. He won't have had the 10+ years of demanding football when he's Nugent's age, so you'd like to think that if he avoids injuries, he'll be able to keep going well into his 30's.

What strange way to look at it. Agree he could still keep improving but it's not like his a 24 year old. Although Nuge has been around for around 10 years of demanding football his still had top professionals assessing his fitness and recovery and regular massages etc to ensure his always at peak condition.

Honestly, I think this is the best signing news of our summer. Can't wait till he's back playing.

No offence to Vardy, I have a lot of respect for the guy, but Kasper was the best signing of the summer by far!
