Love the transfer actions: Stormed out after being locked in showdown talks to thrash out a deal after fending off interest from potential suitors.

Sorry the format got scuppered in the cut and paste, and I couldn't be bothered to tidy it up. Lazy posting I know. :P

There, I've tidied it! Bastard guilt! If you want the headings looking nice click the link! ;)

lol was only jesting but fair play for commitment to easy to read posts :D

Again, speculation, but isn't this more common for younger players moving to Europe for the first time and trying to make a name for themselves? I haven't heard it relation to Cambi or any other older players tbh.

It was the West Ham thing with Mascherano and Tevez signing for them, just to get a foothold in the English game that started this whole third party ownership off.At the time the Hammers were one of the last teams i thought could afford a pair like that.

Love this thread. Cambiasso is a money grabber, his agent is greedy.

Nobody ever thinks leicester are trying to push his wages down to get a better deal?

We seem to offer as little as possible for everything where I think sometimes it would be best to meet a valuation. We've seen it with ulloa which took far too long before paying full whack, deeney, who won't be signing unless we stump up 12 million now and now cambiasso.

I know nige has 'ethos' and 'team spirit' but unless you bring quality in, you could find yourself struggling. And we need some quality, and sheer numbers as we are paper thin.

Must have been a trendsetter.

Seriously though, Mascherano and Tevez were the first public dealing with this issue because it had serious money implications, but this was back in 2006, but I think it's fair to say that deals like this could have gone back to 2002.

Good job we're not a huge club are trying to sign World Class Players all the time as I don't think some fans would cope.

Anyone would think that this is the first time ever in football history that a transfer has had complications and taken more than a couple of weeks.

It's evident none of us know what's going on, and people are just believing which ever article or rumour which suits them best.

One of the most important attributes Pearson looks for in all his players and signings is their attitude. So if all these rumours about EC demanding more money were true then I think Pearson would have pulled the plug.

I have a feeling this is why Nigel really wanted to keep wraps on the details of this deal. The complex nature of it may lead some fans to forming opinions on the player and his intentions before he's even put the shirt on and played a full 90 minutes. Clearly it seems there is some sort of third party ownership deal which is delaying negotiaitions. However, if Pearson is more optimistic now then I think we have reason to be optimistic ourselves. I honestly can't see him persisting if he felt the player's heart wasn't in it. The truth is no one knows what has actually gone on and it proves most of the media speculation (and ITK speculation) has been wide of the mark!

I agree with most of your post.

But 'clearly it seems....'

What about what cambiasso thinks? Imagine if Leicester tried to lower his wages, would he be in his rights to say he isn't being valued?

Negotiation is part of football. Wes, kasper, nugent all did there fair share, as I'm sure vardy did.

Thanks to SphericalFox for that post re 3rd Party Ownership. As I and others have said throughout the last couple of weeks since we knew of the 'difficulties' - I too cited the Tevez/Mascherano deals and that was all down to Kia Joorabchian, and therefore, this ownership could be as small as a scout who discovered him way back when or, and more likely, a big global brand.

However, it would seem, that these issues may finally being overcome. Here's to hoping.

"Hi Ian its Nigel. Thought you would like to know that the Cambiasso deal has progressed and Im now more 'hopeful'....byeee"

Think there is a press conference every Monday for RL - Interviews with Nigel are often replayed on the Fans Forum at 6 tonight. Stringer also said during his Saturday post match interview with NP something on the lines of 'catch up with you Monday'

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson believes the club have a good chance of securing former Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso and hopes the Argentina international will be signed before the Foxes host Arsenal in the Premier League next Sunday.

Cambiasso is still a possibility.
There's been progress over the weekend so I'm more hopeful than I was on Friday and Saturday but until there is a definitive answer I'm loath to talk too much.
