Leicesterpool Posted 1 September 2014 Share Posted 1 September 2014 Defoe would be perfect for us, though if he was given the option of either here or QPR he'd go QPR. Who was it who laughed at me when I said earlier on in the window we should go in for defoe?

Buzzell Posted 1 September 2014 Share Posted 1 September 2014 Would love it if we managed to sign Defoe but can see him going to QPR to once again link up with Redknapp.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 1 September 2014 Share Posted 1 September 2014 Not a hope in hell. Not necessarily... this is where deadline day can help a club like ours. Defoe has been reported as being in this country today, presumably looking for a move back to these shores from Toronto following the sacking of Ryan Nelson. This puts him in a rather weak position, given that he's desperate to move - especially if Toronto are looking for a reasonably significant fee as well. He may well need to accept the best offer he gets, not the offer he wants, if he wants to make this happen with so little time left.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 1 September 2014 Share Posted 1 September 2014 Welbecks agent talking on Talksport about him moving and saying he has been talking to most BPL teams, one of them us? I would imagine most teams would be a little reluctant to take him. He doesn't feel like he'd become a prolific striker anywhere else to me, it'd be quite a gamble to take especially at the quoted asking price? Stevosevic Posted 1 September 2014 Share Posted 1 September 2014 He will know he will have to take a wage cut to come back to UK. It seems hes signing for someone today and it isn't QPR.

Matt Law has all the answers: "Leicester City are emerging as surprise favourites to sign Jermain Defoe on loan with a view to a permanent move. Arsenal passed up the chance to sign Defoe from Toronto FC earlier today and Queens Park Rangers have cooled their interest in the former Tottenham man. That leaves Leicester as the club most likely to sign Defoe, barring any late developments or changes of heart. Defoe will have to lower his £90,000-a-week wage demands to complete a return to the Premier League, but his determination to move back to England is likely to see the 31-year-old do that. With time running out on transfer deadline day, Leicester are likely to try to sign Defoe on loan until the January window with a view to making the transfer permanent in the New Year." ealingfox Posted 1 September 2014 Share Posted 1 September 2014 Not sure about Defoe, am surprised he's only 31 though. Still would be a poor signing for me and not one that feels like a Pearson signing.
