The downside with Defoe has and always will be his height - it means you can't play him as a lone striker.

The big plus is his pace - now that could go nicely alongside Ulloa. For me it's all down to the pounds and pence men, if the deal works on a financial sense, it's worth a go - after all it feels a tad better than McGoldrick and him and Cambiasso may get a few other quality players to turn their heads towards Leicester come January.

 

I think Pearson has made it clear already that we don't want to start with a lone striker. If we're not doing it so far I'm not sure when we would play like it.

Ok, but he's an 'on the shoulder of the last defender' striker. Couldn't see him putting in a shift defensively like Nugent / Vardy would do, it would blunt his game too much.

Wood certainly isn't and Nugent won't get us enough goals. Imagine if we'd gave in to a 3 year contract lol

 

Are you talking about the same Chris Wood who came on scored and got us a point against Everton?

He doesn't offer enough to start for us, look at Ulloa and then how Wood has performed over the past year. I'd be happy with Defoe coming in and Wood going out on loan.

He's might not be suitable starting games like yesterday, but every game isn't going to be like that. As long as we have a Vardy or Ulloa working alongside him, he'd potentially be perfect for us.

I've always thought he's wasted in that situation because teams naturally drop deep to defend, killing his pace side. Mean he's a decent finisher, but he's never been top class like an Owen or a Lineker.

Find it odd Harry isn't in for Defoe. Has QPR written all over it.

 

Newcastle rumoured to be interested yesterday too.

 

Toronto say they have received multiple offers....   

 

Really hope we can sign him!!
