fuchsntf Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Player_of_the_Year http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_Ballon_d'Or So non of the players, playing today, or who ever played who havent won the above, are not to be classed has top drawer or World class players.NOT too sure what point your trying to prove.
fuchsntf Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 You're just embarrassing yourself now, I'd let it lie. All I and some others have mentioned, is we see Rooney has a class act has a football player. Then on this thread named 'Wayne Rooney' posters who disagree (which they have every right), throw up top names that they believe contradicts his right to be mentioned as a top drawer player.....mmmmm Embarrassing strange word in the circumstances'
Dan Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Rooney's issue is complacency, he hasn't got anything to do or anything to prove anymore. In a nutshell. Wayne Rooney is a product of the over-hyping culture.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 If that's all you'd mentioned it wouldn't be embarrassing, but it isn't, is it.
ty fox Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Seen Messi, chase a ref down over a foul, seen Kaka shout at teammates, but lets say they hadnt, still doesnt stop Rooney being a top drawer player. Plus both have not produced themselves at World cups, but I wouldnt dream of not classing them as W.class. If Messi doesnt win a W.cup does that make him a worse player, or further down the rankings has Maradona ?? kaka has also not won the top trophy while playing in the team, so are his achievemants degraded.. Messi doesn't go on for the rest of the game to the ref about one incident because he has class. How has kaka not performed for his country hahaha he's won confederations cup twice and World Cup with them so please explain?
fuchsntf Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 In a nutshell. Wayne Rooney is a product of the over-hyping culture. If he cant keep up, and falls way down on his talent, wouldnt disagree. Give you another thought....Rooney is 28, G.Best was 26 when he through it all away, should he be forgotten and not rated or compared to other WC players.
fuchsntf Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Messi doesn't go on for the rest of the game to the ref about one incident because he has class. How has kaka not performed for his country hahaha he's won confederations cup twice and World Cup with them so please explain? Read again what I wrote. I rate Messi in my opinion has the best player I have had the pleasure to watch, mostly because of his high class consistency. Better than Rooney, by a country mile. Kaka ditto.( but he only played 25 mins in that wc squad) But both must be said surrounded by other WC players, in high achieving European teams, which doesnt demonish their class. This said this info doesnt stop Rooney being rated as a W.Class player. Lineker , Ferdinand , Shilton, Ashley Cole also wasnt in Messi's league, but still World class players My point , mention another 50,100 WClass players, doesnt prevent Rooney being a Wclass player, or has I said top drawer.
Steven Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Let us all agree Rooney is a cvnt, but let's all agree that if he signed for City in January we would all cream our jeans.
Dickov22 Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Rooney is going to become Man Utd's all time greatest scorer. He has consistently performed for Man Utd domestically and in Europe. In his United career thus far he has 235 goals in 523 games. Name me a current English striker in the top flight with this record. Thats right, you cant. Look at when Jamie Vardy made it 4-3. Juan Mata lost the ball (but he gets a free pass, no criticism), but Rooney is the only attacking player who chased back to defend, and by the time Vardy scored Rooney was the closest outfield Man Ud player to him. Not only is he a hardworker, but he is also a team player. He's willingly played out of position numerous times to accommodate for Ronaldo, Tevez, Berbatov, van Nistelrooy, van Persie etc. I dont get the Rooney hate. Rooney and Shearer the two best strikers England have produced since Lineker. And yet people like to slag him off. Shearer was a ****, but he was quality. Call Rooney what you like but he is not shit nor is he overrated. Have a word with yourselves. Good post. I agree

He has been third rate in all his appearances in an England shirt and even slagged the England supporters after yet another abject performance by him and the team. If he were not playing for Man united he would never get the amount of press he does. A washed up old has been who never was for England.
My Nads Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 I thought the Rooney hype would have ended when he was team mates with Ronaldo. Ronaldo was tons better than Rooney when they both played for MU. Rooney went on to be the best player in the world*, but Rooney has declined ever since and now he is nothing more than a good player. He is far from world class, but the media like to think he is.
ARM1968 Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 If he signed for us in January I'd despair.
Chug Laguna Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 I'd surely take him at Leicester but I'm absolutely amazed that anybody could consider him as anything but overrated at this point? He shouldn't be starting for club or country at this point.

Call Rooney what you like but he is not shit nor is he overrated. Have a word with yourselves. no he really is massively overrated. he is not in the same class as bale, neymar, Ronaldo, suarez, messi, augero. and if you look back. he isn't a patch on fat ronaldo, Ronaldinho, shearer, kaka, raul. he's just another petulant little fecker living off a early bit of promise, he doesn't impact a game enough. this he can play anywhere shit is nonsense too. so could phil ****ing neville. never helped him and he is not considered world class.
MattGamble92 Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 He really is not overrated. He's rated as a top player because he has a top record for club and country. He will be both top scorer for club and country too. Because the national team in general haven't been up to standard, we give him the stick because he carries most of the hopes. It said it all at the last world cup when he set up a goal and scored, he still had people calling for him to be dropped. When absolutely anyone else does the same and they'd be nailed on in everyone's minds. I've watched the match against us back 4 times now and he is absolutely pivotal in so much of their great attacking play. Just look at how much he does all ober the pitch compared to the rest too. Like its been said before if anyone else did they'd be no criticism whatsoever. All that's been said to counter that is that its because he shags prostitutes and moans over wages. Basically you don't like him and want him to fail. People are saying he isn't as good as Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo so he isn't world class. The lads record IS world class no matter what you say. There are still honestly very few players I would rather have in world football than Rooney. For his work ethic combined with his class record.

Topman Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 Messi and ronaldo record are ****ing world class, average more than a goal a game, Rooney international goals 80% comes from against countries like San Mario, andorra or friendlies no one cares about. He peaked about 22 and went down hill from there, Ronaldo showed him up at man u, Saurez is another example of a world class striker, even van Gaal said Rooney is not good enough to be his striker
Topman Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 He is 28 and should be at his peak, lost his pace few years back, when the last time he seen him run with the ball and drive pass players like he did when he 1st burst on to the scene, maybe he lied about his age probably why he gone bald at 20 years old
MattGamble92 Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 so scoring against san marino in qualifiers makes him better than someone like our own gary who scored at world cups? Why is it every time someone defends Rooney, someone else is bringing up other players? No one in this thread has said Rooney is as good as Messi, Ronaldo or even Sir Gary. I think anyone who understands football and actually watches Rooney without the aggressive hatred with see just how important he is to any team he is involved in. Says a lot that every manager he's played under has picked him and realised he's been integral to every bit of success they've had until recently
Oxfordfox83 Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 Rooney, in my opinion, is Gazza-lite in every respect. Dazzling early promise, demons exacerbated by everyone telling him how utterly brilliant he is from the earliest age, massive pressure from media, fans and self, and injuries that took his edge away. He clearly has temper issues, which I don't think Fergie helped with, and it baffles me when people say "you don't want to lose that side of his game". Yeah you do. I think he's been hindered by playing out of position at Utd (except his most prolific years with Tevez and Ronaldo), and by playing injured for England under some of the worst managers the country's ever had. He has been the sole attacking spark for too long, meaning he drops back too much and is ineffective. Despite all this, he has scored goals and made chances throughout his career, and never shirked 'easy' qualifiers. I truly believe if he'd had a partner like Lineker, Shearer, Sir Les, Wright, Sheringham to allow him his natural game and to share the limelight he'd be considered one of England's best ever. He always gives absolutely everything, even if that energy is misapplied. The guy is probably a spanner in person-he certainly comes across that way when he's on a losing team, but he has plenty of talent, industry and will to win. It genuinely isn't his fault that England has no one else to shoulder the star player burden, and no one else certain enough to start so that he has to be captain. He's not captain material in a million years, and he probably knows it. In short, Rooney has been under the spotlight for his entire life, and that's bound to make saints look bad, let alone someone with his tendencies. He has had enormous pressure which he's struggled to deal with, and being part of a waning team (England or Utd post-Ronaldo) hasn't helped him at all. I like him and think it's sad his career has come to this point. He's looked a shadow of his former self since last season, and think if he'd left United when he wanted to things would be very different. Nevertheless, he's achieved an incredible amount so far, and if he gets the spark back he could have 5 more years at the top. People saying he's shite are out of their heads, blinkered or bitter.

I would not place him in any world 11.
