Vardy isn't a diver. He knows what hes doing in terms of getting players to trip him, but that's not the same thing. He is fast, slick and nimble which causes defenders to panic when he cuts across in front of them. Naturally they end up bundling him over. Great attribute of Vardy. Did it all last season and hopefully will continue.

Wasn't a pen but United have won hundreds of dubious penalties over the years, the penalty didn't cost them though

Rafael was a spindly pussy, got outstrengthed and went all bitchy and made the ref make a decision.

Love Vardy but today was a dive. First of all he forced contact by pushing his arse into the defender, and secondly the contact wasn't enough to knock him over really.

Hey, I'm glad he did because it swung the momentum our way and led to the best comeback I have ever seen.

But if that was a Man Utd player at the other end, I'd be on my feet screaming abuse.

Vardy won about 7 penos last season and not one was a dive.

Today was him being tactical, even if its the softest on contact he has the right to go down, if he went down without any contact at all then it would have been classed as a dive and i would have been dissapointed

Vardy might have gone over a little easy, but there was contact there....and Utd fans need to think of it as karma for all the soft pens they've got over the years....finally know what it feels like.

This.

Today was a dive. Normally I don't think he does, he's just too fast a nicks balls away from defenders before they know it. But today he tried to initiate the contact and then played for the penalty before Rafael could realise what was happening.

Personally I've no problem with it. It's clever play from Vardy if he can win the penalty as he did but, yeah, if it was against us I'd be fuming!

Don't know what you're all on about. Clear penalty, I thought and a straight red.

Ohhh, the first one. Yeah, dive. I'd maybe feel bad against almost any other team. But I don't.

No, this one was a dive, no doubt about it whatsoever. Let's not kid ourselves here. You can see Vardy positioning himself to get contact with Rafael. http://gfycat.com/WhimsicalCoarseCattle

I've said before, I don't care though, I still love the guy.

I see a striker moving to shield the ball and doing nothing to stay on his feet when the defender puts an arm on him.  I also see the defender trying to sneak an arm in thinking it might be shielded from view then thinking better of it only after making minimal contact, which is unfortunately enough these days.

I would 100% prefer Vardy to stay on his feet and take a shot or tee someone up, but by modern standards it's a definite penalty if the ref sees it, which he did fortunately unlike Vardy's enthusiastic barge moments earlier.

It certainly isn't on a par with dropping at no contact and that's why I don't personally class it as a dive.  Dubious gamesmanship yes, diving not quite.
