danfox76 Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 he should play the worst 11.. can't do any worse over 5 games really
reynard Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 But the 11 we played today are neither 1) the best players at the club or 2) the best team at the club. Maybe maybe not but the manager clearly thinks so. Irrespective of this though who would really improve it who isn't playing? Personally I don't think any of them would make a difference at the moment. mahrez possibly but most of the others just aren't good enough.
Callabinho Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 To me it sounded like "I haven't got a ****ing clue what I'm doing"
Kitchandro Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Maybe maybe not but the manager clearly thinks so. Irrespective of this though who would really improve it who isn't playing? Personally I don't think any of them would make a difference at the moment. mahrez possibly but most of the others just aren't good enough. You've just contradicted yourself. Mahrez yes would make a difference. Mahrez would make a big difference because he is an individual. He is quick, skilful and has the talent to make things happen. He is dangerous. He is a threat and would help link the midfield and attack. Playing 4, arguably even 3 central midfielders is not going to work. You cannot play that way. Now, if that means our best TEAM (not necessarily 11) is a flat 4-4-2 with Mahrez on one wing and Knockaert/Albrighton on the wing, then so be it. But our best 11 certainly includes Mahrez. And our best team certainly doesn't contain 4 centre mids. So either way, Pearson is wrong.
RowlattsFox Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 He's only saying that because that's the team he has picked. He's not going to say I didn't pick my best tem is he.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 If he's going to continue playing those players in that formation he'll be out a job before long and we'll go do down bar a massive recovery. I'm personally hoping he realises that before it's too late or this ridiculous system somehow starts to work how he is envisaging it (I've no idea how that is) You can't play without any width. You totally nullify everything good about De Laet by playing this formation as well we all know he's main strength is stretching the opposition but isolated all we are doing is leaving him exposed where he is weakest. Simpson would be a far better option.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 To me it sounded like "I haven't got a ****ing clue what I'm doing" Agreed, sorry but I don't care who you are playing, if you don't have one single shot on goal and claim that is the best that could be done... that to me is looking clueless. It isn't just this game either we haven't scored in 5 of our 6 matches... We have players capable of attacking and causing problems, pearson just can't see that.
Jace Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 And QPR have put 3 in against Man City after 20 mins
foxes_rule1978 Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Are QPR adding another nail. Making pearson look even more clueless, apparantly you can't attack these teams in this league
RowlattsFox Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 The formation is flawed, people play the diamond but not with 4 centre midfielders. de laet and Schlupp need a winger to play with because they can't take players on with skill. Just can't see what Pearson thinks will happen. Worked against United becuase we matched them, and had a striker at the tip so we're more of a threat.
MooseBreath Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 If that's what he really thinks then he should do the right thing and hand in his resignation, because if that is our best 11 then it's the worst in premiership history, and it's all on him. Wealthy, patient backers, and this is the best he could do. More likely it's just Pearson getting typically arrogant and ridiculously defensive when challenged by an interviewer, but he does himself no favours.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 If that is our best eleven, we are fookedI agree Col
Unabomber Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Just so everyone is aware he was saying this was the best 11 for this game, yes that was wrong too but he wasn't saying that this is our best 11 hands down.
Monsell1976 Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Well if that's our best 11, it's going to be a long, boring, depressing season. On a positive note, at least ticket prices will be cheaper next season, and better away days in the championship
cjslcfc Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Just so everyone is aware he was saying this was the best 11 for this game, yes that was wrong too but he wasn't saying that this is our best 11 hands down. Don't let some context get in the way of a good over-reaction...
theessexfox Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 If he plays that at Sunderland it will make me glad I can't go. Possibly defendable away, suicidal at home to Sunderland.
Callabinho Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 We haven't signed enough quality, we constantly play players out of position and play with no width. Then our manager stands there says it's the best he could have done today with the players he had at his disposal...doesn't exaclty fill you with confidence.
Kitchandro Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Don't let some context get in the way of a good over-reaction... It's not an overreaction, if he meant it was our best 11 for this game he's still absolutely clueless. I thought Schlupp was ok by his standards today (although he gave the ball away countless times) but if he is considered as part of any best 11 in any game then
v6rat Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 If Nigel thinks thats the best 11 after a weeks training with them, fine. But If he thinks today was the best tactics, we're in the shit
Kitchandro Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 We haven't signed enough quality, we constantly play players out of position and play with no width. Then our manager stands there says it's the best he could have done today with the players he had at his disposal...doesn't exaclty fill you with confidence. You could argue we might have done better in the transfer window - but all the same what's happened to the likes of Ulloa who looked great and caused all sorts of problems against good sides earlier in the season, or Mahrez who's sitting on the bench, or Vardy who's been played out of position or has had nothing to work with, or Cambiasso, Drinkwater and James who can't make any forward passes because we're camped in our own half? It's all self-inflicted, it's making the players look worse than they are.
5waller5 Posted 8 November 2014 Posted 8 November 2014 Well if that's our best 11, it's going to be a long, boring, depressing season. On a positive note, at least ticket prices will be cheaper next season, and better away days in the championship Not a chance of cheaper tickets .... don't you remember the usual "ticket Price Freeze" even though you get more games headline that follows every relegation!?
