'This is our best 11' - Nigel Pearsons Post-Match Comments

Not sure if it's not been said, but did he not say he thought this was our best eleven for this game??

It has, by reasonable people and therein lies the weakness.

The best team aint the issue. It's how they are being played thats the issue.

I say once more. .Cambi, Drinkwater, James, King, Hammond...pick and mix. It don't matter..none shine out over the others. But when you have none with the creativity needed to unlock defences at this level, and you play in a way which won't allow that, you have a problem

Nick Powell is a creative midfielder different to what we already have but he can't get in the starting lineup for some reason.

I wonder what Simpson thinks I think he's a good player only had minutes at palace needs his chance

Doesn't even get on the bench lol

Honestly there's so much wrong with the side at the moment, its almost like he's doing it on purpose.

In my honest view (and I hope these words come back to haunt me like they did last time I said this) if we don't get at least a point against Sunderland I think Vichai and Top may lose patience and Nigel may be packing his bags. I don't think any of us would be too hard on the lads losing if we at least look like we are giving it a go and lost to better teams, but just recently, we looked scared stiff. Can not fathom it at all.

ah right, well to be fair to him it got the desired result for 75 minutes, on another day we might have held out.

Not really the way I want us to play though we don't even look threatening on the break.

To be fair, they could have scored in the first 10, or first half and we would have seen them win in second gear, like Swansea away.

Don't know if it has been mentioned,Pearson also said we didn't take our chances,of which Stringer replies we had none on target..Pearson then tries to cover his arse by saying we got in good positions

lol One thing Pearson isn't known for is talking shite. However this season he has done nothing but. He is a man on the brink.

We did get into good positions. Morgan should've hit the target with his header and Wood's miss was laughable.

2 chances all game and a couple of 69ers is not good enough for any team. Both bbc and Sky said we were well shit, I watched the same shit.....Nigel then talks shit

I fully agree.

If he's going to continue playing those players in that formation he'll be out a job before long and we'll go do down bar a massive recovery. I'm personally hoping he realises that before it's too late or this ridiculous system somehow starts to work how he is envisaging it (I've no idea how that is)

You can't play without any width. You totally nullify everything good about De Laet by playing this formation as well we all know he's main strength is stretching the opposition but isolated all we are doing is leaving him exposed where he is weakest. Simpson would be a far better option.

On my phone so... Like, Rep, etc

If he plays that at Sunderland it will make me glad I can't go. Possibly defendable away, suicidal at home to Sunderland.

He picked an even more defensive line up than that at home to a West Brom side who are in every bit as much trouble as Sunderland.

I can't believe he's fvcking it up like this, it's so frustrating.

Its just the manner of the performances that is most disappointing - we are showing no sense of adventure, ambition or attacking spirit and the team selection reflects that.

I think we have enough quality in the squad to compete but it seems to be that we are picking the wrong components at the moment.

Its as though Knockaert is getting the same treatment that Gradel, Ben Marshall and Danns got. Knockaert has been an integral part of the promotion winning side and the revival of the club - he is one of those players that has the courage to want the ball and can create the spark to link midfield and attack yet for whatever reason he isn't getting a look-in.

Mahrez has the creative spark as well - he is the one who can thread in quality passes on the floor for willing runners. Look at the pass he made to Schlupp against Arsenal for example, we don't have any other player who can produce that quality.

Its painful to watch the back 8 just hoof it up fo Vardy, who has no support and at best can just try and win a corner. I just hope we come back with new impetus after the international break and at least take the game to our opponents - i don't think there is any shame in at least having a go. At the moment we are just far too conservative.

I'm fascinated to know what jobs everyone has, as a lot of people must go to watch the lads in every training session??

Did we expect 20 clear cut chances against a team who has conceded only 5 goals this season, I didn't. They're not 4 points behind Chelsea for no reason.

I too would like to see Mahrez but do we have another proper winger who could play on the other side at the minute? The diamond lets 2 proper wing backs, in Schlupp and De Laet get forward. Personally I would like to see Knockaert come in at the tip of the diamond.

Keep the faith everyone, I'm confident we will get out of this rot after international break.

I am embarrassed reading some of these posts tbh. What happened to keeping a sense of proportion? We win against United and it is the best game anyone has ever seen, Pearson is a deity, we are pushing Europe and showing everyone else how it's done, and then we go on a relatively predictable and not at all unusual run of defeats and Pearson needs to go, Pulis is already in a taxi, yesterday's genius Ulloa is today's donkey and we are certain to be relegated. Where is the middle ground? Why can't we just accept that we are in what is arguably the best league in the world and every game is a long hard slog. I sometimes wonder if some of these idiots have ever seen a premiership season.

CJust listened to the interview. I get the feeling that we are far too concerned with setting up to answer the opposition than playing our own game. As if the preparation is based on what will they do as opposed to what should we do.

It's quite simply the manner of the defeats. Of course we knew it would be tough.

But if we can score 5 against United, 2 against Everton and look threatening going forward at Stamford bridge then how can we not create anything in the last 4/5 games against inferior opposition.

Pearson has completely changed his mindset , and I have no idea why! 442 with creative players resulted in 8 points from 5 games. We looked a great side, who ok may concede the odd goal but we looked unbelievably good going forward.

Now 1 point from 5 games playing so negatively and zero creativity. Ulloa hasn't lost the ability to finish overnight. Nor Knockaert & Mahrez haven't lost the ability to create chances. So please for all of us and your own sake Nige, go back to how we destroyed teams last year and how we succeeded at the start of this year and play positively!

It's been like that since half time at Burnley.

We don't even look like trying to impose ourselves on games, something many of the people who went to newcastle reported back on and it's not got any better since.

That said yesterday was never going to be a game where we were expected to take the initiative and we did defend pretty manfully.

But that's now 4 games in a row which we have set up primarily to keep a clean sheet, failed to do so and not scored. And that will forever be a problem with setting up for a 0-0 in every game. 9 times out of 10 better sides (Swansea and Southampton) will break you down eventually and it reduces games against comparable opposition to a scrap which will be decided by a moment of good play in what will inevitably be a complete dirge of a game (Newcastle) or a mistake/moment of spectacular misfortune (West Brom).
