'This is our best 11' - Nigel Pearsons Post-Match Comments

To me it sounded like "I haven't got a ****ing clue what I'm doing"

THIS.

The sort of bullshit he's coming out with is about as embarrasing as the justification some are giving it on here.

How can it be acceptable that these kind of toothless displays are acceptable? This is the kind of dross we had to watch under Micky Adams with Benjamin, Scowcroft, Nalis etc in this side. You could justify it if the players were absolute dogshit, but we've seen their capability and we know thay can play better than this so why arent they?

Why is someone like Jamie Vardy, not even getting a shot on goal? When was the last headed attempt that Ulloa had? The lack of threat we carry is baffling. If we carry on, we'll be cut adrift and the spearhead is not installing any confidence at all with the bullshit interviews.

Whether or not they're our 11 most efficient footballers the line-up lacks the necessary balance to provide the chances we need to score goals and win games.

Furthermore the lack of threat from wide areas means no-one is creating the space needed by the likes of Vardy, Ulloa and King  - or any others - to enable a consistent goals threat.

Surely, over 400 minutes and with all sorts of combinations, emphasises the need for balance in capital letters.

To be fair at least under Micky Adams we actually scored goals

He also mentioned that we were in no position to play width with the current state of play? This got me slightly concerned. Surely if you pay £8 million for a tall CF and then bring in a player (Albrighton) who crosses the ball for fun, surely you're asking for trouble by making those claims

I must admit that worried me!

It sounded like he may have decided to finally stop the tinkering and go with this formation come what may, which if that is the case, he may as well put Ulloa in the 21s with Knocky and Albrighton , because he thrives on service from wide areas, and he`s not going to be getting that with todays team, in todays formation.

The thing is, by playing the Diamond formation, it`s supposed to leave you with 2 up front, but both last week with Nugent and today with Ulloa, they have ended up dropping back into midfield anyway, resulting in us playing aimless hoof balls up for Vardy to chase, and try to make something of.

If he feels we can`t play a 4-4-2 in this division, then i would rather we go 4-3-3, and actually use some natural wide players to get some balls into the penalty box for Ulloa.

Things are really not looking good at the moment, and it really is difficult to try and find a positive, to give us some hope.

We beat leeds 4 0 with. Benjamin, Scowcroft and Nalis in the side last time in the prem. We also were more of an attacking threat than the turgid crap we are now watching week in week out. We went down cos the defence wasn't very good.

Schlupp should stay in the team and I would like to see Powell at the top of the diamond.  I was pleased with Vardy today and it shows that he can play with Ulloa.  James is doing well.  To be honest I thought Morgan was at fault at least twice.  He should have scored from the corner in the first half and he had no idea that he had to mark Long who had hardly been on the pitch when he scored.  He had no answer to his pace.  I wonder if Upson may be a real asset soon ?  Cambiasso not doing enough and he hasn't got the energy of the younger players.  At home surely some time on the pitch for Mahez as we will have to attack against Sunderland.

Take Cambiasso out and you're halfway to solving the problem.

Just so everyone is aware he was saying this was the best 11 for this game, yes that was wrong too but he wasn't saying that this is our best 11 hands down.

ah right, well to be fair to him it got the desired result for 75 minutes, on another day we might have held out.

Not really the way I want us to play though we don't even look threatening on the break.

Don't know if this baggies mate is taking the piss but a mate of his who works for the sports on the express and star recons Pearson could be on his way out as early as Monday !!

Hope not as I think he needs a few more games we can't afford a knee jerk reaction could harm us more than do us any good so hopefully he can pick us up and sort our sorry ass players out !'

As I mentioned I was a big Pearson fan, but basically saying that, "that's the best I could do today with this lot" has resulted in me losing a load of respect for the bloke. ****ing pathetic to be brutally honest.

Some Posters have been quick to mention the team and manager, are showing alot of stress and cant take the pressure.

Well it seems with the half cocked comments on this thread and the Pearson out orientated posts, the fans are showing they have stress orientated mind bending difficulties to stay rational.

Getting dickheaded by the managers 1st comments directly after game, or to be honest any football managers comments, at any time. They are just throw away utterrunces, for godsake Ferguson, Morhino, Wenger etc etc have a library full.

The thread itself is ok, its just some posters have lost it.We are on a losing streak, the 'HOW' has suprised many of us, but trying to use any managers postmatch comments, to make any negative remarks to prove a point of the, distrust, dislike, or lack of confidence, is quite ridiculous, especially using it as a reason to help you win an argument that, that manager has to go.

Playing your best players does not always equal your best 11.

Drinky, James and cambiasso all did ok today. The problem was they had no outlet when they nicked it.

For example, drinkwater won't beat 3 players after winning it back it's not his game. He will however, pick the right pass when he does.

Get Mahrez and Knockaert on the pitch, take a risk.

In which we don't look like scoring, the manager persist with the same tactics that has brought loses week in week out, couldn't give to ****s about the manager, he's just an employee of the club, what I care about is the pile if shit we have had to watch for the last 6 games.

This is an opinion, I wouldnt disagree with, its not using Pearsons, or a players 'comments' to prove an argument. The last 6 games results have not worried me as much as the performances of the players on the pitch.

No matter what NP puts out, these players, have showed not 2 out of 6 but maybe 6/6 poor individual game, lack of ball control passing skills, pressing and positional nous, and on the pitch organisation of holding shape.

Something that Burnley, QPR, Sunderland,, even Villa, everyone of them even in their losses, have shown a good shape and good movement, which has eluded city. For me Vardy, Ulloa totally innocent, chances rare, service creating an inkling of decent chances non exsistent.Whether or not you agree or disagree with NPs game choices the players themselves havent shown any consisteny of displaying and keeping to the basic skills, to give our 2 forwards who ever they may have been anything decent., that could create anything worthy of being called continuous chances.Wood today cant be criticised for this one off.

The best team aint the issue. It's how they are being played thats the issue.

I say once more. .Cambi, Drinkwater, James, King, Hammond...pick and mix. It don't matter..none shine out over the others. But when you have none with the creativity needed to unlock defences at this level, and you play in a way which won't allow that, you have a problem

Did he literally say "our best or eleven" full stop, or the eleven he thought was best for this game?

I would guess this was what he actually said, or meant to say and has either been misinterpreted by a fan wanting find further ammo to vent his spleen, or simply NFP not saying things perfectly in the spur of the moment.
