Haydos Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Good old pre-christmas overreaction. I was concerned he'd go before the transfer window but we have got to think more long term. We haven't been that bad.
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Again I am in no way anti Pearson but I repeat, we are still bottom, adrift of safety who are you shushing At least that's put it in some sort of context. We are still bottom. Playing better, but still bottom. Another win and some of em will be suggesting we can make Europe again... Wouldn't shock me to see it. Why can't people just take their time and just see?
Mark_w Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Again I am in no way anti Pearson but I repeat, we are still bottom, adrift of safety who are you shushing The idiots who want Pearson sacked I assume, was that not clear?
Webbo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The idiots who want Pearson sacked I assume, was that not clear? He's not kept us up yet, we're still bottom. It's a bit early to start crowing.
Mark_w Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Why can't people just take their time and just see? Gee you weren't saying that before the Hull game, if we lost that game he has to go, was I believe what you said. Why didn't you just wait and see? He's not kept us up yet, we're still bottom. It's a bit early to start crowing. I'm not crowing, I was calling them idiots weeks ago when we were losing every game. This is just continuity.
Strokes Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Corner is turned, confidence is back. This transfer window will be key in our survival hopes. Anyone who said we were dead and buried looks foolish right now. It looked like we were missing a ruthless finisher today, I wonder if Pearson has any plans in this area
johnny the fox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Out of interest ..is there is any "fans" still want Nigel out?
Strokes Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 He's not kept us up yet, we're still bottom. It's a bit early to start crowing. It's not about crowing, the character assassination the guy went through was outrageous. Regardless of whether we stay up, he has proved he is capable of progression.
LanguedocFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 At the end of last season, I was predicting that as soon as we lost a couple of matches, the kn0bheads would come crawling out from under their stones, bleating about Pearson being sacked. And I was right. We're undefeated in four now, and they've shut the fvck about it, but I have no doubt they will be back. Fortunately, as they have proved repeated in the past, our owners are intelligent enough to realise that Pearson didn't stop being a brilliant manager halfway through this season. Another prediction (two, in fact): we will not go down this season, not by some distance; next season, we will do even better.
Webbo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The thing is we'll lose a game again eventually and somebody else will come on and say I told you so. It's very petty and extremely boring, from both sides.
Charl91 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Corner is turned, confidence is back. This transfer window will be key in our survival hopes. Anyone who said we were dead and buried looks foolish right now. It looked like we were missing a ruthless finisher today, I wonder if Pearson has any plans in this area I wouldn't say they look foolish. Let's not forget we still only won by 1 goal against a Villa team who haven't scored in over 500 minutes, we're still bottom of the table and 3 points of being outside the relegation zone. If Nigel keeps us up, then you can hush the Negative Nancy's then, but it's too early at the moment. A loss next week, and it will look like it's all over again. (For the record, I've always supported Nige, and I'd keep him even if we got relegated, but let's not count our chickens!)
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 So Pro Pearson people aren't allowed to be positive after a win as we aren't out of the relegation zone, but anti Pearson people are allowed to criticise after a loss even though we hadn't been relegated yet. Nice logic.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The idiots who want Pearson sacked I assume, was that not clear? Oh I get that Mark thank you, I am merely pointing out the pointlessness of doing so after getting a result which in the grand scheme of things isn't going to change anyones mind given we're still nailed to the bottom of the table adrift of safety. Thank you for your input though.

We'd got 2 points out of 39 it was hardly "a couple of matches". that run might still take us down. If Pearson had been sacked before Xmas he could have had no complaints. Maybe we've turned a corner, I certainly hope so but lets give it a bit longer before the recriminations start.

If Pearson had been sacked before Xmas he could have had no complaints. Maybe we've turned a corner, I certainly hope so but lets give it a bit longer before the recriminations start. I think he could have had plenty of complaints, as could most fans and all of the players. Apart from Villa away, we didn't play particularly badly in any game in those 13 matches, and with a bit of luck, we could have won two or three of them. If we City fans should learn anything (fat chance, I know) it is that patience is a virtue. Pearson isn't Neil Walnut, Billy Davies, Alan Irvine or any of the other Premiership disaster areas. He's a bloody good manager, and we should be grateful we've got him.
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I think there's two points. Firstly, the run we had was terrible. Relegation form. If the owners would have sacked Pearson, I would have understood that. Secondly, that's past..we had to improve, we have and now we effectively start over. Let what's gone, be gone..Pearson has stayed..and let's continue on the upturn. Don't start recriminating..what's the point. We look better. Let's hope it continues and just enjoy it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I'm no sailor, but I don't see that being five points off 13th place is exactly adrift of safety. It's a term you normally use for being a position where you can't or extremly unlikely to get out of a relegation zone in one game. Which we would of been had West Broms lateish goal that I completley missed not gone in! To be honest one result is still extremly unlikely to get us out of trouble.

Monsell1976 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHLove this, we have done well in the last 4 games, doesn't hide the fact again we went on one of the worst runs ever, and when we have played well and got positive results, why would we complain about a manager who is doing what he's payed to do.We looked dead and buried, and all looked lost to get a result, but we seemed to have found something at present, and I don't know how after our run we have a chance of staying up, but long may the positive run continue. Nobody can call someone who called for Pearson to go, many managers should and have been sacked for far less poor results, but to call for him to go if the team is getting good results and back in the relegation fight would mean in my opinion, I wouldn't like the man, not what job he's doing. Anyway as I say long may this run continue but Pearson has still alot to prove at this level, and things can change so fast, and as the season as a whole we are not doing that good.

Oh, should we stay up yes you can, and will, and I'll be firmly among them for the second season running as I am fed up with people even suggesting the man should be sacked after all he's done for the club and the amount of bad situations he has managed to turn around in the past. However doing so now is stupid.

Yes, I can call them out. Fvck it. You should have a look back at the posts on FoxesTalk in, for example, the 2012-2013 close season, after we lost to Watford. Classic threads about how the owners were going to sack him on Monday/Sunday/Saturday/End of the month, and who we should replacing him with (Neil Walnut was the favourite I think). It lasted even into the start of the 2013-14 season. I still read the Middlesbrough match thread (first game of the season), when several kn0bhead posters were calling for Pearson to go for picking Drinkwater (player of the season) and Vardy - before the fvcking match had kicked off. Fans who call for Pearson to be sacked cannot have very long memories, given what has happened since O'Neill left. One sh1te manager after another, buying one sh1te player after another. Name me one manager in the past 15 years you would choose over Pearson, or one player we've bought you would choose over any of the players who started today.

After a return of 2 out of 36, or 5 out of 39 when this thread was in full swing, unless you are a hardened Pearson fan, to question his ability in a league he's not managed in, I would say it's acceptable to ask questions, and we at the time didn't look like getting a result, so his job was rightly under pressure.Don't get all the lets not forget what he's done in the past, yes he should be given longer to get it right, which he has been, but football is a results buisness, and the run would have seen many managers sacked.

Yes we have had a shit 10 years, but the club ran on a very small budget, and fighting for its existence, now we are looking at moving up a level, with ambitious owners, and the club to survive after the massive investment and wage bills, the championship isn't the place we want to be.Some fans will never like Pearson, I don't care as long as the club is doing ok.
