Deucalion Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I was wobbling in my support of Pearson but, now we've got to the transfer window, I'm glad I'm not the owner of the club because I would've sacked him and regretted it. I also don't go with the argument that Pearson should be allowed to stay at the club indefinitely due to his remarkable success here in the past. If it becomes clear he isn't going to learn how to manage in the PL, then he should go. As he has started spending in this window, then we should give him to the end of the season to make a success of his team. And if we are relegated, then I have more faith in Pearson than in any other manager to get us back up again and to do the necessary balancing of the books which would be required. So while I'm as prone to knee-jerk reactions to defeats as anyone (well...I'm a little more patient and tolerant than a fair few to be fair), I really like the idea of giving Pearson as much time as possible to build his empire here and see how far one talented manager can take us. However, if he is successful eventually, I would expect some loyalty back. Also, if we were relegated and promoted and then bottom by December in his second PL season, it would probably be time for a change.
Bagworthblue Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Love this, we have done well in the last 4 games, doesn't hide the fact again we went on one of the worst runs ever, and when we have played well and got positive results, why would we complain about a manager who is doing what he's payed to do. We looked dead and buried, and all looked lost to get a result, but we seemed to have found something at present, and I don't know how after our run we have a chance of staying up, but long may the positive run continue. Nobody can call someone who called for Pearson to go, many managers should and have been sacked for far less poor results, but to call for him to go if the team is getting good results and back in the relegation fight would mean in my opinion, I wouldn't like the man, not what job he's doing. Anyway as I say long may this run continue but Pearson has still alot to prove at this level, and things can change so fast, and as the season as a whole we are not doing that good. We are far too quick in this country these days to expect greener grass from a management change. By getting rid of a Pearson, you are getting rid of Shaky and Walsh, impacting the training, the scouting, the whole behind the scenes infrastructure that has been put into place over time. You are causing insecurity amongst the current staff and players all of whom really like Pearson and are happy doing their jobs. You are turning your back on a scouting team who have brought in a very good crop of players over recent years and run a very happy ship with great team morale, you are turning your back on training routines, pre-match planning routines, dietry programmes and sports science techniques and player motivation that has seen this management team get LCFC promoted twice and in the play-offs twice, you are turning your back on a team that has achieved all of this because of a bad run of games, during which we for the most part played quite well, had zero luck and during which time the players showed they were still playing for their management team and behind them all the way. When other teams have sacked managers and brought in a new manager, often it is because the management team have lost the players backing, or there is no passion in the play any more, and not often have that management team, completely rebuilt the behind the scenes procedures that Pearson has done since joining the club. Sven dispensed with much of what Pearson had started. I recall Pearson re-introduced the painstaking attention to detail that sees sports science used to the maximum, every t crossed and i dotted, very few soft tissue injuries, the claim that if a player signs with us, we can extend their career using the tried and tested techniques Pearson introduced with all players under the spotlight on their fitness levels throughout the season and off season Oh we have lost a few games, let's change the manager is what fickle fans cry. Why - will he motivate them better than Pearson and the current team? Probably not. Ok he might have more experience in the prem but Pearson has go-to people to advise him with a lot of prem management experience. Pearson is learning in this league yes... but he's been learning since he arrived at the club and has he ever let us down in the longrun? He learns, the team learns and we succeed. Id stick with him even if we were relegated as he would succeed long term I am sure of that. bit like Fergie did with a lot more money! He had bad spells too. If the Fergie Man U blueprint of sticking with a good manager isn't evidence enough then I'm not sure what is.

Bagworthblue Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Fergie was never bottom of the league. No but the expectation and money involved at Man Utd means 5th is worse than bottom of the league to their Board and fans and there have been plenty of times they've dropped below that mark for periods as long as our bad run
theessexfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Does Lord Nige or King Nige or Sir Nige sound best?
bovril Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Does Lord Nige or King Nige or Sir Nige sound best? I prefer just 'Pearson'. Anything with Nige is proper cringey.
Bagworthblue Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Does Lord Nige or King Nige or Sir Nige sound best? none of these. he has just got far more right than wrong at LCFC, done a great job stabilising the club from the days when we didn't succeed by replacing managers every month and has built a solid foundation which for the most part has brought success to our club
oohaahmustafa Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Again I am in no way anti Pearson but I repeat, we are still bottom, adrift of safety who are you shushing Erm, I'm sushing the 'that has to be it, Pearson needs to go ' crowd. Can't be arsed to read the rest of the thread. Boring. Blue Army!
Fox92 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Why can't we leave threads? If it's done, let it be. No point in bumping the thread with "oh I told you so" (or whatever) we all have different views which is the point in having a forum.
ScouseFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 anyone who ever wanted nige gone this year shouldn't be allowed to support the club imho

Anyone that called for Nigel's head were well within their rights. The run was utterly abysmal. Fair play, the owners kept their bottle and gave Nigel a chance. Early signs seem good, but lets not count our chickens.
Dr The Singh Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 anyone who ever wanted nige gone this year shouldn't be allowed to support the club imho Even me??????
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Erm, I'm sushing the 'that has to be it, Pearson needs to go ' crowd. Can't be arsed to read the rest of the thread. Boring. Blue Army! As I say, they'd just point out the fact we're still bottom so your making yourself look a bit stupid.
MrSpaM Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 So people think it's stupid to support the team and manager now?
waylander Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 its just nice to let negative fans know they should back the manager. was great to see the thumbs up and wave for the fans support during the game. we never looked that bad now if you had seen us under pleat he he
Corky Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 At the ground the support has generally been very positive towards the manager. Hardly any chants for a sacking, virtually all supportive. He hasn't proved anything concrete this season but we are improving after a terrible run which is what every fan wants.
