LCFC_Nige Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Interested to hear what attendees thought of the Anfield experience/ atmosphere today? It's traditionally famous for its atmosphere, songs and fortress like nature (well it was anyway) but what did you guys think? I appreciate Liverpool not playing well at all today and so their fans frustrated and theyre in a bit of a lull but interested to hear what the atmosphere was like? How does it compare to the KP and other grounds? Whole ground singing or just sections? And lastly what was that Anfield Exercise over the tannoy all about?
ScouseFox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Genuinely the quietest ground ive ever been to. Honestly unbelievably quiet.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Abysmal. I think people know my feelings about Liverpool but as level headed as I can think- it was awful. I didn't realise they'd extended the traditional 1 mins silence to 90 mins. Not a patch on ours this season but to some extent thats to be expected given we've been ut the PL for 10 years. But these are supposed to be a big side Yeovil Town made more noise
Matt Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Not too miffed I didn't go as regards the 'Anfield Experience'. It's somewhere i've always wanted to go and given a decent ticket price, not being New Years Day, e.t.c, I probably would go, but in recent years the famous Liverpool atmosphere seems to have gone downhill (And they were doing well last year, it didn't even come across that good). Have I just believed in the hype in past years and only just realised? Or has it actually got poor in the last few years?

Perhaps down to them expecting to turn up for the 3 points maybe. Yeovil Town made more noise
Bayfox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I've been saying for years it's not all that. glad people are finally seeing the light.
Finnaldo Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 And lastly what was that Anfield Exercise over the tannoy all about? I wasn't there but I'd imagine it involves all Liverpudlians turning approximately 180 degrees back to the 1984 Champion's League Cup Final.
Sylvie85 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I sat in the home end near our fans and had been looking forward to going to Anfield and sampling the atmosphere. It was appalling, no atmosphere whatsoever apart from that which our fantastic fans created. Was sat feeling really proud to be a Leicester fan.
StanSP Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 It's now becoming 'famous' for the wrong reasons. Whenever there's a match these days, either one of those 'famous European nights' or a league game, you always get the same comments. 'home fans are dead quiet'...'there's no atmosphere there'. It used to be good. It seems pretty shite now.
yorkie1999 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Standing with a scarf over your head whilst Gerry and the fvckin pacemakers is piped through a tannoy system has got to be the naffest thing I've ever witnessed. How they've got a 30000 sth waiting list to get into that crap has got to be the joke of the century. Still, the stewards were alright, our lot could take a few lessons from them. What exactly was operation anfeild anyway.
KFS Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Abysmal. Lovely sing along that they have at the start, then they just sit there listening to the players talking.
Matt Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Abysmal. Lovely sing along that they have at the start, then they just sit there listening to the players talking. Bit like West Ham singing about blowing bubbles then listening out for a pin to drop then!
KFS Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Bit like West Ham singing about blowing bubbles then listening out for a pin to drop then! I was there for that too, pretty much the same. Both away ends have been incredible. Love our support, heads never drop when we go a goal down etc.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Bit like West Ham singing about blowing bubbles then listening out for a pin to drop then! They're both better than our half arsed hey Jude!!!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 They're both better than our half arsed hey Jude!!! Maybe but at least we sing during the game
Matt Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 They're both better than our half arsed hey Jude!!! Granted, but we sing during the game, ok were not the loudest and our atmosphere isn't the greatest, i'm not saying it is, far from it, but compared to others, especially those two, its not that bad.
Dan Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 You can hear players shouting through the TV even in their 'famous European nights'. It's an absolute myth.
ithuriel Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 This what it was like? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpYbK588nB0
Monsell1976 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 As a away fan, I thought the Liverpool fans were nice people, and the food/ fans area was a great idea next to the ground, as a day out, I really enjoyed it, and so did the kids. Leicester fans were amazing today, I think one of the best away noises of our season. Liverpool fans should be embarrassed, think I heard one half hearted song, nothing of the mighty kop roar, we as city fans had to resort to banter between our right side and left side. As we sang numerous times "where's your famous atmosphere", where was it?. City fans hold your heads high, Liverpool fans hang it in shame.
HEGGSY Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Their fans were shit. The "famous" Kop was awful. YNWA is overrated and I only heard one song from them all game..."Liverpoooooool, Liverpoooooool" Great. Our fans however, I really enjoyed today and think that was probably the best away end all season. That's just my imo but I missed Hull, as some have said that was good too.
Stuliasz Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Literally the quietest home atmosphere I've ever heard. First time I've been to Anfield and I enjoyed the experience of being in such a historic ground but the home support was shocking. The Leicester fans made it today.
promised land Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Kop, what kop? Never heard a peep out of them or the fans to our right, above all game. Selhurst park made far more noise than these even without the red haired thing behind their goal.
One Legged Beaver Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Listening to the game even when the score was 2-0 you could only hear the Leicester fans. That could be to do with positioning of the microphones though.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I was in the home end near our fans, I heard mignolet shouting at his defence. I have never heard a keeper from the opposite end of the ground before, that should tell you how quiet it was. The boys and girls in the away end were superb, I loved the handball handball handball chant, brilliant. That operation anfield thing? The beeping made people around me jump.
yorkie1999 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Listening to the game even when the score was 2-0 you could only hear the Leicester fans. That could be to do with positioning of the microphones though. Yes, but the microphones were in the home end
