MooseBreath Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Should have been at least three. Villa were unbelievably bad. They will be relegated if they carry on like that. We looked comfortable, shame we didn't get a 2nd because that might have opened the flood gates. So much for the people saying you can't play 442 in the premiership. We'd be top half had we played it all season.
Guest ttfn Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It was a good team performance but it is hard to get too excited given how poor Villa were. BUT earlier in the season we were failing to beat poor sides. Burnley did nothing against us and scored twice. West Brom did nothing against us and won. Now we're getting closer to getting what we deserve from games, albeit in 3 of the last 4 league games we should have had more goals (today) or points (Spurs, Liverpool). Knockaert and Albrighton looked great on the wings. Great finish from Konchesky and the other 3 defenders were rock solid. Only sour point really is the fact that I am not convinced that our front players have a brain cell between them. Just taking sensible decisions at key moments - not even having to do anything particularly clever - would have got us 3 or 4 more goals today. Against sides better than Villa that will cost us, make no mistake. Overall a massive, massive three points and a huge step towards safety with a new striker arriving imminently. We can do this.
Richard Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Albrighton and Knockaert showed they're good enough to come in for Mahrez and Schlupp and with Kramaric coming in could really galvanise us to extend this run further. After the Stoke game though we have a tough run for 5/6 games so we could really do with another 3 points to keep us in the mix during the tough spell. Drinkwater was only a doubt for today so I assume he'll be ready to step in for James next week, hoping Hammond's knock isn't anything too serious.
The Doctor Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It was far from an excellent tackle. Had that been a villa player you would of called for his head. It was a straight red tackle. Plenty of worse tackles out there. But this one was on the red side of yellow It was an excellent tackle, and no I wouldn't. How was it? He won the ball with reasonable force, didn't jump in, not off the ground, not showing studs, only one foot. It was a challenge which, 10 years ago, wouldn't even have been a free-kick, let alone a red card. This idea of it being a red card is nothing more than you being soft as ice cream that's been left out on the equator for a week.
tripe Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Well done. You played a fantastic game without key players. Only 5 points from Everton in 12th place. If you carry on like this there is no way you'll get relegated. I predict you ending in the 15th place. Pity Nuge didn't score. Like the way he plays. He is a great asset to the team. Can't say there was a bad player on today. Maybe Ulloa played a bit worse then the rest. It's like he isn't synchronized with the rest. My pick would be Albrighton, Nuge and the two central defenders. Like Hamer as well. Has control of his back line. Always good for a team. With Cammbiaso in the middle and Kramaric up front it will look just fine. If your two back up wingers play like this, the starting two will find themselves benched when they return.
glenelgfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Dirty Villa cvnts but James deserved his red! Need to improve our possession percentage although today we should have been so far in front that it wouldn't have mattered.
Guest ttfn Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 no its not. His eyes were on the ball, he got the ball and its as simple as that. It'll be appealed and rescinded. Think you're in for an unpleasant shock then, because it is not "as simple as that". If you had a quick look at the laws of the game you could see that. I don't think we'll even appeal it. We might do, but we won't be winning it. I didn't think it was a red card, but it's not clear cut and for that reason there is no way it will be overturned.
5waller5 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Who plays in central midfield next week ? Drink water and Cambiaso?? .... King to come on?
jimmeh Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 What happened to everyone looking forward to the championship?
weller54 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Another clean sheet from the mighty Hamer!!!!!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Hard fought win should have been by more. Exciting game
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Villa 11 goals in 21 games this season, they can be caught. Let's hope Spurs hammer Palace and we get off the bottom.

Top credit to James for commitment and although he did win the ball he does take the player to. His back foot goes studs in half way up his leg What happened to everyone looking forward to the championship? Agree I can't believe people was saying this in the first place!!
Finn Claw II Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Should of won by more. Glad to get 3 points. Was, Wes, Albrighton & Knocky- Quality Nugent- frustrating. James- woeful first half, better second half. Terrible tackle & defo red- wish he swung for Clark though. Good to see Lawrence get a run but defo needs to be more composed- probs being little judgemental. Kramaric will hopefully make a MASSIVE difference. Think that sums it up for me All this, the two wingers were solid knocky does a lot of defensive work as well
foxes_rule1978 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Another vital win, only 2 points from survival with the opportunity to strengthen. 3 wins in 4 games

You seem to be in the minority that think it was an "excellent tackle" so instead of me being as soft as ice cream I think its a case of blue tinted glasses for you sir.
The Doctor Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Top credit to James for commitment and although he did win the ball he does take the player to. His back foot goes studs in half way up his leg Agree I can't believe people was saying this in the first place!! Taking the player afterwards is inevitable if the (opposing) player is committed to winning the ball - It's hardly an argument for it being a foul.
MPH Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 For a winger like Knockaert to come in with such a brilliant attitude and put in so much defensive effort is extremely pleasing to see. For Both him and Albrighton to come in and show some effort gives me confidence that we'll be ok. Neither of them are Mahrez but a couple more games under their belt and especially with a few more home games coming up to me suggests we'll be ok until the ads come back. So pleased for knocky and Albrighton.
GorlestonFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Taking the player afterwards is inevitable if the player is committed to winning the ball - It's hardly an argument for it being a foul.Gone are the days when you can take ball then man.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Villa 11 goals in 21 games this season, they can be caught. Let's hope Spurs hammer Palace and we get off the bottom. On today's evidence, they look likely to be dragged into it. They're only three points clear of QPR and look completely unable to score, comfortably the worst team to come to us this season.
filbertway Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Krama must have been rubbing his hands watching that. Chances galore.
The Doctor Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Mate. You seem to be in the minority that think it was an "excellent tackle" so instead of me being as soft as ice cream I think its a case of blue tinted glasses for you sir. Look at it again: His studs aren't up, at least no more than in any other tackle (you've got to have them showing if you tackle, you can't do anything else), he doesn't go off the ground, he doesn't go in with both feet, he doesn't scissor him. It's a strong but fair tackle. Gone are the days when you can take ball then man. Might as well ban tackling then. You can't not take the man if you make a challenge where the other player is committed.
Guest Cujek Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Buzzing http://www.villatalk.com/index.php/topic/12549-ratings-and-reactions-leicester-villa/page-5Makes it even better.
Ethan_Evans Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Leicester should get Luis Suarez to bite nasty players like Clark when they are being feisty!!
