Guest Cujek Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Krama was there, I bet he was itching to get on! What did our Croation friends think of the game? See why we need your countries top striker now? Edit: Speeling, had a few beers!
Devonfox1884 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The atmosphere was immense from what I could hear on the stream!
DB11 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Not what I said is it? In any challenge where both are committed, the one who wins it will inevitably take both ball and man. Winning a tackle is not a red card offence because someone else tried to win it. It is what you said actually. You said if a player is committed to winning the ball. And I said you can be committed to winning the ball but in the process go straight through the ball and do some serious harm to your opponent, thereby winning the ball but using excessive force, which falls under a red card offence in the Laws of the Game. A reckless tackle is a yellow card = Winning the ball but tackling from behind. The act of a sliding challenge coming from behind your opponent can often, in the opinion of the referee, be performed recklessly as it's luck whether you win the ball or not as you are not in control. A tackle that uses excessive force is a red card as it endangers the safety of an opponent. You didn't say where both players are equally committed to winning the ball, which is what you are back pedalling to now.
MrSpaM Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The atmosphere was immense from what I could hear on the stream! Was really good today, especially the last ten minutes
jimmer Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The turn around of our defence is quite staggering, very impressed, we look solid and organised. Also pleased to be creating chances still, despite the number of changes in midfield.... Keep it up lads!

I'm not back pedalling at all, I clearly just wasn't clear enough in my first post. Taking the man is inevitable if the player is committed to winning the ball meaning if the player you're challenging is committed. Now, is winning a 50/50 tackle justification for being sent off? No, so taking the man =/= foul, let alone yellow or red.
MooseBreath Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Take another look at our next fixtures after Stoke especially Feb. 3 points against Stoke then some hard fought draws are a must. Burnley, CP, QPR, WBA will pick up points, this season maybe another 38-40pointer. At my bias best I see us, only getting 44pts. 18th is on track for 34 points. Based on that we need 18 points from 17 games. Can be any of these combinations 6w 0d 11l 5w 3d 9l 4w 6d 7l 3w 9d 5l All starting to look quite achievable but we do need to keep picking up points
roblcfc84 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Thought nugent was great today - aside from being unable to score
Rasmic123 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 pretty poor display and we lacked a lot of quality in the final third. should have won by 3 or 4. but a win is a win and i'm ****in relieved we got it. villa probably the worst team ive seen all season, surely they're gonna be in trouble come the end of the season, they had absolutely no idea going forward

Got to agree - the communication between them all seemed much better, as evidenced by the sheer number of times Villa were caught offside. 7 or 8, wasnt it?

We do need to learn to keep possession better however, in the last 10 mins especially when we should have tried to retain possession we kept giving the ball away. Nugent was poor however and if Kramaric is available then play him just behind Ulloa.
tripe Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Thought nugent was great today - aside from being unable to score Same here
Guest ttfn Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Amazing to think we fvcked about without wingers for about 3 games when we had Mahrez, Knocky, Albrighton and Schlupp, all of whom have been really good in recent weeks when called upon.

"Villa got totally outclassed by a Leicester City club who played like they deserved their bottom-of-the-table position." In that case, Villa deserve to be in League 1...
NewburyFox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Crucial three points, although we really should have won that by a few goals. If Krama is half as good as he sounds then he would've had at least two today with the chances we created. Both wingers did brilliantly, although Lawrence's inexperience showed. Just got to back this up with another 3 points next Saturday. No comment on the red without seeing replays.

Read the first paragraph, got annoyed by the 2 contradictions, stopped reading. Villa have and will always have delusions of grandeur and they can p1ss right off!
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Same here Yeah did play well. The problem he's got is we've got a record signing coming in who can score goals, apparently (Whether he can score regular prem goals is anyone's guess) and whilst his overall game was good enough he can't keep missing chances like that and expect to get in the side when you've got more than someone who runs after defenders and fouls them for competition

Nugent was poor however and if Kramaric is available then play him just behind Ulloa. it was poor compared to how we have been playing, but then again you can only beat whats in front of you. the defence was excellent though, i may have been a bit harsh saying we were pretty poor. thought the two centre mids were very poor today though and nugent was dreadful in front of goal again. lawrence doesnt look ready yet too, his decision making is atrocious but you can see he's a decent footballer
kingfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Didn't think it was that pretty, we should of scored more goals, and if we were in the same situation against better teams, they probably would of punished us. Thought our passing and decision making let us down at times, some terrible passing from Konch, Hammond, James & Nugent in particular. Nugent had options either side of him on a number of occasions, yet just wasted counter attacking opportunities. Villa were terrible though, all they did was lump it up to Benteke and hope for the best. Morgan & Wasyl though against him today were absolutely dominant, both were absolutely outstanding last ten minutes especially when Villa were lumping balls forward, Morgan & Wasyl were there to head & block everything which came there way. Thought Knockaert was good today, especially on the defensive side of things very very hard working. Need to take more of our chances, but it's three points well needed.
Bert Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Just a great team performance. Showed how together all the lads are.
Guest Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Thought nugent was great today - aside from being unable to score I think that he has been great all season - apart from being unable to score. Sadly we need his position to score.
