I’ll have to check the place on Sorrel out as Three Crowns has become my go to

Three crowns was good when the Indian first opened, now overpriced and food portions smaller. Broadway in Leicester abbey lane way better

people sleep on the broadway. Think because people haven’t been yet. I’ve tried them all and loads better than the usual Paddy’s and others

I think the Broadway is solid and good value, but i don't really enjoy the experience of sitting in there and find the separate bar/restaurant thing a bit of a faf. I also find it doesn't have any killer dishes and they seem to add a thick batter to everything. Eg mogo, paneer, aubergine comes in a very thick batter which just makes it too heavy. Haven't been this year though and looking forward to going again soon.

Yeah Broadway is very decent but Three Crowns do a stilton & red onion naan which is a lovely little treat and worth the admission alone

Another great review from the Leicester king of curry. What do you think of chef's flavour and Balmoral? They are the two I want to do during xmas in Leicester

Both good. Chef's Flavour is better for food, but Balmoral is good for a few beers and watching the footy.

Chef's Flavour feels more like a cosy village curry house inside. The owner there is very helpful and you can go off menu with him/ask for recommendations. Food was solid across the board.

Balmoral food not quite as good but still more than decent enough. It's much nicer than your usual desi pub inside and they've got massive screens everywhere.

Other ones on the radar for next year: Sports Lounge Oadby, The Coronation, Harrow Inn, Rose and Crown in Houghton (thanks Raj), and Avatar Dining in Harborough. Also still need to do Himalaya Tandoori but not sure if that's gone to shit

yea a lot have that batter, the chilli paneer is insane though. It does get VERY hot in there even in winter they have heating on must be 25 degrees which isn’t what you want trying to scran a curry

Went to The Aberdale Wednesday night. Same owners as the Broadway so the food pretty much tastes exactly the same. Prices are reasonable, been nicely done up both inside & out and the big advantage it has got over the Broadway is it has a big car park which is good.

Will certainly be going back but if anyone wants to go make sure you book ahead. Saw so many people walk in try and get a table but were turned away.

Can conform Kayal was spot on and the aubergine  curry was outstanding.

Lovely ambience and really nice staff.

Even got my Mrs a free dessert telling them it was her birthday (which it was!)

Not exactly "in and around town", but went to Opheem in Birmingham last night and it was absolutely sensational.  Not exactly a place to eat once a month as it'll bankrupt you, but well worth visiting on an occasion.
