cc_star Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Can't fault Lineker's choice of career, but it's always a shame when someone with so much to offer to the game chooses to take the easy money sniping from the sidelines from a comfy chair
WardyisPukka Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Time for Top and Co to reprimand him/ have a word now cause he could definitely get sued or whatever by Lineker for saying that as there is no hard evidence of him not paying his taxes im not defending Lineker - I just think Pearson should watch what he's saying now as he's adding fuel to the already **** off burning fire which isn't %100 his fault - the club have dealt with this in the complete wrong way and the media/PR department should be ashamed of themselves for letting it get this bad and Pearson needs media training badly for situations like this but to me it looks like he obviously refuses that Only ones that lose out on this is us and the club being made to look an absolute joke which it is already half way there to achieving this week P.s - wonder if this will galvanise the players or make them think wtf?
suffolk fox Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 I can't for the life of me understand what if anything Gary Lineker has done wrong here? All Gary Linekerhas done is state the bleeding obvious after being provoked by our silly manager who as others have alluded too Says silly things at times when he would be best served to keep his mouth shut. Pearsons behaviour on Saturday truly was bizarre and the annoying thing is he din't need to get involved at all. After Mccarthur collided with him purely accidental, all he needed to do was get up offer his hand and help MccArthur to his feet and get on with the game. All this nonsense about I can handle myself ? What's that all about? The owners also have to take a lot of blame here. Lineker has stated what happened in a tweet that's why sky were all over it in a rash cos if the owners Dad did fire pearson then that seems credible to any media source. The fact that Top reinstated him later shows to me the Thais are bloody clueless at running a football club. Top and Vichai need to get together and make sure all future decisions are done jointly either that or decide who is in charge of our football club cos quite frankly at the moment we are a bloody joke. Am looking forward to the game tonight but am also looking forward to when Pearson puts his foot in it again cos it won't be long.

Hes a media idiot and will take ridiculous patronising and self righteous snipes at anyone, even when theyve got every right to question his unprofessional behaviour. Im sick of the light Pearson is portraying our club in publically, its ridiculous. Sniping at club legends reporting on saturdays events, wrestling with opposition players, opening public spats with utterly ridiculous comments against managers like Sean Dyche and Burnley, telling fans to **** off and die? Its a grown man, a professional managing a football club. If i was chairman, and I dont care if i get laughed at for this, i would genuinely take him to one side, and say the next incident involving you, whatever it might be whether it be your attempt at a joke by grabbing a players throat, or one of your typical journalist hate press conferences, you clear your desk. This.
walkerleeds Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 The embarrassment mainly comes from the owners apparently sacking him and then reinstating him. I'm also amazed that Pearson allowed himself to be reinstated if it is in fact true he was sacked. He doesn't strike me as a man who would want to work without full support and seemingly on borrowed time. Was thinking this myself. But to be honest he must know he's on borrowed time given the season we've had. IF what Lineker said is true, I believe that personal pride may have set in meaning he couldn't leave the club when it is bottom of the table when it was under his watch.
harpendenfox Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 The Club isn't a joke. It's simply in the eye of a media storm, which will pass. It makes those of us who love the Club feel somewhat embarrassed, but it will pass. Nige has made a few mistakes, but most of us would in the gaze of the Premiership limelight, and most managers do too. Sure the whole reinstatement saga looks a bit amateur, but again, these things happen. For me, the under performance this season would make his sacking less than surprising, but there is no point sacking him when there may not be a viable option who is available. The question of his continued employment should be rigorously debated by the owners at the end of the season
Fox Ulike Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 I’m not really bothered by any of this, but I do find Pearson’s behaviour embarrassing. He comes out of all of this looking like a bit of a dick. Anyway, it doesn’t alter his ability to manage a football club. Let’s hope his players respond for him in the right way tonight.

I don't buy into this time difference bollocks - difference of opinions crap sorry! Then shoving Nigel infront of the media fully well knowing that they wont talk about today's game - Where was the Press officer yesterday - pretty sure Mourinho has had the Media officer to state before the press conferences have begun that he won't talk about this or that - its just a bit simple no ?
5waller5 Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 "The players sounded ready for training, not for analysing or engaging in banter about the manager’s future. “No gags, no jokes,’’ Pearson observed" NOT GOOD....all a bit toxic now, it's a matter of WHEN not IF, and that's a sad way to deal with a loyal servant but Thailand has questionable human rights and dignity history so I'm not surprised I read that exactly the same way .... When you have a team that thrives on the banter and siege mentality, if they are quiet that seemed like a negative thing to me.
Dan Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Rarely wanted a win more than I want one tomorrow. Just any sort of positive outcome from the game so we can shift this mess out of the way. And me, got a bad feeling it'll go the other way though

When you have a team that thrives on the banter and siege mentality, if they are quiet that seemed like a negative thing to me. Hopefully saving it all for the goal celebrations tonight, Konch to rifle a left foot bullet into the bottom corner to then run into Was who pins him to the floor and holds on to his shirt all the way to the half way linr. Or the team to use their imagination and come up with some form of mountain and molehill celebration, come on lads get creative!

Whilst the fans are singing the Nigey Cokey .... the players strangling each other in goal celebration!!!!!
LcFc_Smiv Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 That would be brilliant ..... Whilst the fans are singing the Nigey Cokey .... the players strangling each other in goal celebration!!!!! Wes (in a pearson mask), Was (in a lineker mask) boxing match celebration.
Pasty1 Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Getting really silly now...... Pearson shouldn't have made the Tax comment as it's unproven - Where Gary only stated that Pearson's behaviour was a bit 'Bizarre'..... I'm a Pearson fan and thought we would keep him even if we went down...... Now I think he's slowly burning bridges...
5waller5 Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Wes (in a pearson mask), Was (in a lineker mask) boxing match celebration. My money would still be on Was .... He'd forget it was a celebration and flatten him (the new media story would then be does the first Red Card for Lineker count!?). Maybe there's a career in celebration choreographers beckoning!!?? Getting really silly now...... Pearson shouldn't have made the Tax comment as it's unproven - Where Gary only stated that Pearson's behaviour was a bit 'Bizarre'..... Any player who is tired of the mundane thumb suck, or soon to be retired knee slide call us, we can help put that spark back in your goal celebration.
Corky Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 I am quite amused that the reporters who couldn't give a toss about us before this season seem surprised Pearson is difficult with the media. He's always been this way and with extra scrutiny it's magnified. He should get on with managing now, he's said his piece and needs to focus on getting results.

Any player who is tired of the mundane thumb suck, or soon to be retired knee slide call us, we can help put that spark back in your goal celebration. It could be extremely lucrative ..... I can see the marketing now ... When you already have a chrome covered Bentley, huge mock Tudor mansion, all the designer clothes you and your gorgeous WAG could wish for, what else can you waste money on???? Smiv & Waller (.com) designer goal celebrations of course!!!!!
GingerrrFox Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Nigel Pearson is a ****ing hero. He doesn't give a shit what I think, you think, what the media thinks or what anyone thinks. He's his own man, says it straight up and doesn't take bullshit. People these days are too worried about what people think of them and so say everything behind people's backs or faceless on social media. The days of people being man enough to say what they think to people's faces is long gone. That's why people can't stand Nigel, because he'll look you in the eyes and call you a **** rather than waiting till your backs turned. He's got more bollocks than 90% of the public and I can guarantee next time Gary Lineker and Nigel Pearson come face to face it will be Gary acting like all this never happened and pretend to be Nigel's best friend. As the reality is Nigel would wipe the floor with the squirmy ****.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Tax bill comment. I wondered if he meant license fee. I think this is what he meant too.
ScouseFox Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Tax bill comment. I wondered if he meant license fee. i assumed that before i read this thread but we'll never know. it makes a lot more sense, as the quote basically reads "i can comment on things on match of the day because i pay my license fee" which seems a lot more normal a comment than what it would read as a random dig at a rumour about gary lineker. and again i'll say what lineker did was wrong. dig for dig, tit for tat that's all fine and we move on. the fact he seemingly released potentially damaging and confidential information on twitter just to have a snide go at pearson is ridiculous and wrong. like i said in another thread imagine if it was stringer, or even a bit more comparable imagine if it was the birch. people would be plotting to kill them.

I didnt see the news until about 40 mins after it had broken. On a Sunday night, its not inconceivable that it took a little longer than 5 minutes to sort out. What do you mean you dont believe in time difference? There is a time difference between here and Thailand of 7 hours. What time was the story running here? About 7.30? That would make it 2.30 am in Thailand. Not unreasonable that it took a bit of time to get shit together. Lets say the press officer was at home, got a call saying, you better get down here and it took him 45 minutes from getting the call to getting to the stadium. 3hrs and 15 minutes later the statement is released. That actually isnt that bad.

RedSoxUK Posted 10 February 2015 Posted 10 February 2015 Yeah Pearson is allowed to criticise the bipartisan coverage of Match of the Day as much as he wants. Under the circumstances and blown out of proportion events - ofcourse MoTD were going to talk about it and go in to detail, there's no surprise. Pearson didn't have to call them out on it, but it's always nice to hear a manager, or player talk about the media in a negative light, when they're consistently painting a picture of Nigel '****ing' Pearson as a man who abuses fans and strangles players - when the actuality is he shouted at one absolute willy puller, and was grabbing a players chin and shirt. Linekar can tweet / say what he wants - he knows it's all published information, Pearson won't be making a twitter account in response - the point is Pearson won't even give a single shit what Linekar says tbh. Whereas Linekar can't take a simple swing at his beloved talk-show hosting on Saturday nights. btw I love Linekar, think he's done wonders for us over the years and it's great to have a lad on TV who supports Leicester publicly, understand that Match of the Day is for entertainment and opinion, it's not BBC Radio 4's PM.
