Ric Flair Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 There's absolutely no requirement for Konchesky in this new formation. Let Schlupp play there and it frees up a spot for another midfielder who can provide ammunition to Kramaric, or even play another striker. My reasoning for Knockaert is he is our best supplier of through balls along with Mahrez and the two of them combining with him could work well. Ulloa has been mince recently and although his record in the cup is superb, I've a lot of concern over how we get the best out of him and Kramaric.
foxfan92 Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Hamer De laet Upson (or Morgan if not) Waz Konch Mahrez James Cambiasso Albrighton Schlupp Krameric Bench: Schwarzer, Morgan (Moore if Upson still injured), Simpson, King, Drinkwater, Nugent, Ulloa James will play deeper - Allowing Cambiasso to link up the attack and Mahrez plays inside a bit more than normal but with licence to really run at their defence - swapping at times with Krameric like they seemed to do so well in the Arsenal game.
AKCJ Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Wasyl Upson Konchesky James Hammond Cambiasso Mahrez Kramaric Schlupp If tuesday was a sneak preview of what's to come, then that front 3 could prove the best Leicester has ever had. So much potential.

Unabomber Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Can't believe the lack of Konchesky in some people's sides. I mean why move Jeff from a position in which he has been playing the best football of his career.
SpacedX Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Can't believe the lack of Konchesky in some people's sides. I mean why move Jeff from a position in which he has been playing the best football of his career. 1/ If Nige want to successfully deploy wing backs he needs pace. RDL and Schlupp are a no brainer. 2/ Even with four across the back, several times last season and this season when Schlupp was placed at LB due to an enforced change following Konchesky's suspensions he has looked far better. 3/ We need pace at the back. This was glaringly obvious when Walcott kept leaving Konchesky for dead last Tuesday - the goal was imminent. 4/ I completely disagree that Jeff is 'playing his best football of his career'. He has always been far more convincing when at LB for City...and Ghana for that matter. His finishing is far too erratic for an attacking midfielder (look no further than the season opener against Everton) although his assists are valuable. 5/ Simply, he's a better LB than midfielder. I think Marhez should be utilised down the left where he looks just as potent for Algeria, allowing a starting place for Albrighton on the right. 6/ More to the point - and irrespective of all the above, - put simply, he's a better left back than Konchesky.
Lionheart Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Just hope Pearson takes this seriously and puts out best 11 if he even knows who that is!

I agree with you and feel Konchesky or RDL should stay in at left back but it does highlight our lack of strengthening in that position for all it may not have been through a lack of trying. 4/ I completely disagree that Jeff is 'playing his best football of his career'. I've never seen Jeff Schlupp play as well as he has been in the last few weeks on the left wing. He's made the position his own and kept the likes of Albrighton and Knockaert out of a starting birth. His finishing is erratic but he's also our second top scorer this season.
lcfcjw16 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 No point in playing 5 in defence against villa who have scored only 12 goals this season My team: Hamer Simpson Wasyl Huth (if not cup-tied.) Konchesky Albrighton (keep swapping with mahrez) James Cambiasso/Hammond Mahrez (keep swapping with albrighton) Ulloa Kramaric
LCFCCKEANO Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Wasyl Upson Konchesky James Hammond Cambiasso Mahrez Kramaric Schlupp If tuesday was a sneak preview of what's to come, then that front 3 could prove the best Leicester has ever had. So much potential. This is our strongest option for this weekend, going forward Huth for Was against lower teams, at upper teams Huth for Hammond, when he is back available
leftbackinthechangingroom Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Id stick with the 541 Schwazer (although I'd play hamer) Simpson Moore Wasyl Morgan Konchesky Mahrez Cambiasso James Albrighton Ulloa Subs: Hamer, Upson, DeLaet, Schlupp, Drinkwater, Nugent, Kramaric
Bettsj2 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 So they've appointed Sherwood. Thats a little bit ballsack.

Which doesn't say a great deal. Am I serious when I say in view of that he'd be better deployed as a wing back or LB? Completely. How has he made the position his own when LW (and arguably LB) is his designated role? He certainly hasn't kept Albrighton out by performing better. The omission of the latter in the starting XI is another one of Nige's unfathomable decisions. I'm not saying drop him, I'm saying he'd be better utilised at LB/WB given his pace over Konchesky allowing for the addition of Albrighton who against Villa put in one of the best performances of any player all season. He was also far better than Schlupp away to Man U the brief chance he got. You clearly don't recall how well Jeff performed at LB season. Konchesky's lack of pace at Arsenal resulted in a goal - you could say then, coast us three valuable points and a huge boost in morale. Algeria play Mahrez down the left. This would allow for Albrighton on the right flank and if Pearson does revert to three CBs and a WB system are you suggesting that RDL and Schlupp wouldn't be an ideal pairing? Think about it. This is the Premiership and we are currently bottom - but it's ok because our second highest scorer has a three goal tally.
Dan Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Do people really blame Pearson for how he is with the media? They're scum.
Pasty1 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Sherwood confirmed.... Could that give Villa the edge?
Mayofox Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Just look at how the games are going today. We just have to get past Villa, & a place in the semis will be beckoning.
Torten Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Is there a thread to talk about the FA Cup? Stoke are being battered and it seems to look like anyone's year with every passing game
st albans fox Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Stoke and derby both had a man dismissed. Vila's priority the PL and considering that Bojan misses the rest of the season for stoke after being injured in the last round, I wonder how much pressure will be applied to sherwood to rest his most important players?

It would be very odd to see a manager resting important players in his first game.

So much potential. I would love to see us play that until the end of the season (with Huth in the league) from what we've seen this season, that is our strongest team. When Cambiasso has the time to pass it about and doesn't need to defend as much he is so effective, his vision and range of passing is superb.
st albans fox Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 It would be very odd to see a manager resting important players in his first game. His job will be to survive. Given the last two fixtures, the odds on one of his men being banned for the next three matches must be higher than average and they lost their most important midfielder for quite a few games after the initial meeting. I'm sure the chief exec will let sherwood know, assuming he is selecting the team. Tbh, that would be a surprise. Teams have to prepare for days tactically and marshall will have decided how this game will be played on Thursday. for sherwood to tear that up less than a day before kick off would be bizarre. if things are not going well, he may well make changes (think Mcclaren in his first game after being appointed watching derby from the stands)

Dan Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 We HAVE to go for this. All three games today are going to see the lower ranked side go through. You would fancy us at home to Blackburn or Reading at home.
AKCJ Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 We HAVE to go for this. All three games today are going to see the lower ranked side go through. You would fancy us at home to Blackburn or Reading at home. I'll be gutted if we lose tomorrow having put up a good fight (like the midweek game) but if we put out a half arsed team and get spanked i'll be fuming. This is the best chance of getting to Wembley and a possible trophy we've had for absolutely ages. I think Villa will be more worried than us. Kramaric, Mahrez and Schlupp need to step up like they did in midweek.
lee7 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Sherwood confirmed.... Could that give Villa the edge? Almost definitely. Villa were good at keeping possession of the ball even under Lambert whilst they were losing week in week out. So tomorrow I expect them to dominate possession even more and probably thrash us knowing our luck. They hadn't scored for 10 or so games up until the other week so I wouldn't be surprised if they put a few past us (things like this always seem to happen when a new manager comes in) I hope I'm wrong, I just have a bad feeling.
