SpacedX Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Perhaps the compromise to the Arsenal formation is to swap a CB for a DM (possibly Hammond)? Too resourceful for Nige I'm afraid. Although, converting Schlupp to left back earlier this year was inspirational. If he wants to pursue the wing back system which looked so promising on Tuesday he needs pace. IMO De Laet and Schlupp are a no brainer. I definitely believe that Hammond should have a part to play in place of James and as a minder to Cambiasso, given our bleak chances of survival.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Strongest team possible please Let's go for it
ADK Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Morgan Moore Konchesky Mahrez James King Cambiasso © Schlupp Kramaric Lets put our strongest side out and win the game comfortably, we have enough time to recover.
Rich Fox Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Why do Leicester fans rate Konchesky so much it really baffles me
SecretPro Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Why do Leicester fans rate Konchesky so much it really baffles me I'm not sure it's a case of 'rating' him, more a case of there being no replacement.
tomn8 Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Hamer Simpson Was Morgan Moore Schlupp Drinkwater Cambiasso © James Mahrez Kramaric
eye666 Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Don't care who plays as long as Kramaric is on the pitch. Get him as much game time as possible to get used to the English style of play and hopefully get his confidence even higher with another goal or two.
SpacedX Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Strongest side please nige That's not a concept he seems to comprehend - bless him
cc_star Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Strongest side please nige That's not a concept he seems to comprehend - bless him Deary me, to that I say: there isn't a 'best' team It all depends on who we're playing Pearson got the tactics spot on against both Palace & Arsenal With Palace who counterattack it was import we had busy, energetic workhorses who could pressure defenders and cut out the 'passing lanes' from the back to upfront, it worked perfectly and if any of them could have scored we'd have ran out comfortable 3 or 4-1 winners With Arsenal who are a possession side, it was important we had extra bodies back and the supposed 541 allowed that, especially as the '1' drifted back so we were essential forward-less and the team could push on in numbers when we did attack like some of the top European teams do Again, barring an individual error or two, it worked perfectly It could even be argued that despite the dire first half showing at Utd, the tactics of playing Vardy out wide were sound as we knew they'd be fired up like never before and that they are a possession team since Fergie left so we had to break with pace, unfortunately we couldn't get a foot on the ball anywhere in order to deliver balls to pacey widemen Basically, horses for courses
Xen Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 I reckon Moore could do alright in a back 5. A lot more support there so it should give him a confidence boost which might get him back into some sort of form. That said, I'm not sure playing a flat 5 at the back is the right choice against a team who are woeful going forward (more so than us), but I wouldn't want to see too many changes. I'd switch to an attacking 5-2-3/5-2-2-1 with schlupp and RDL as wing backs, with mahrez and Albrighton in front of them. Moore Was and either Upson or Morgan as Cbs.
Finn Claw II Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Don't think we need 5 at the back. 451 I reckon. Delaet, Morgan, Was, konchy Albrighton, James, Cambiasso, Drinkwater, Mahrez Kramaric Assuming upson isn't fit, Hammond could come in for Drinkwater or koncky for Mahrez. Sticks not overly bothered
KFS Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Just watching the press conference. How much of a twat is Rob Dorsett? Joking about Nigel's situation when he wasn't in the room and started the conversation with "Villa job is open, are you interested?". Very very poor.

Master Fox Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Is Rob Dorsett a stalker or something? Dickhead. What a stupid question to ask. I hate the media, it's ****ing vile.
KFS Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Sounds like he's just trying to get a reaction out of him, what a douche! Set a negative tone for the rest of the conference. He looked livid. Replied with "not a classic question"

In respect of Arsenal, yes the formation was entirely logical but Konchesky over De Laet was not. He was consistently a yard off the pace of Walcott and you could blatantly see a goal coming from the right. And I'm sorry, but based upon his performances since late October, Captain or not...Wes Morgan does not belong in that side - neither does James IMO. The tactics against Palace were spot on? "With Palace who counterattack it was import we had busy, energetic workhorses who could pressure defenders and cut out the 'passing lanes' from the back to upfront, it worked perfectly and if any of them could have scored we'd have ran out comfortable 3 or 4-1 winners". - But we weren't, so it didn't work perfectly did it. Forgive my elementary armchair punditry, but allow me to venture that a starting place for a 9m striker up front may have converted the chances you refer to that were otherwise squandered. Are you also suggesting that Albrighton isn't an 'energetic workhorse'. Nige's team selections and substitutions have become increasingly bewildering. The introduction of Tom Lawrence against Stoke for example - the most physical side in the league, was frankly unfathomable. Re: Vardy down the flank at Old Trafford?...as someone said on another thread, you can have the pace of Usain Bolt , but if you have the touch of an elephant it means eff all in the prem. You can talk formations to your hearts content but if the selections are to cock it counts for nothing. I would however add that there have been times this season when both tactics and team selection have indeed been 'spot on' - both your examples were not one of them. Respectfully, I completely disagree with your post.
davieG Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson says striker Chris Wood has returned to training, but the FA Cup Fifth Round trip to Aston Villa has come too soon for the New Zealand international. Wood has been out of action since injuring his ankle in training last month, but his recovery has seen signs of positive progression, according to the City boss. Meanwhile, defender Matt Upson, who made his debut for the Club in the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday evening has also trained, and could make his second appearance for City on Sunday. “He’s (Chris Wood) started training with us, so we’ll see how he progresses,” said Pearson. “He’ll need at least a full week with us before he comes into any sort of consideration for games. “We don’t really have any further problems, not that we had too many injury situations to deal with. Matty Upson trained today, so we will monitor him. Obviously Matt will need managing in terms of the loading because he’s been out for such a long time. “I think you could see in his performance, his game understanding is very good. I thought he had a good game. I was pleased with how we approached the game full stop.” With centre-half Robert Huth cup-tied having made an appearance in the prestigious competition for Stoke City, Pearson said there will already be one change to the starting XI against Villa, but it is down to the players to secure that place in the squad. He added: "It's never easy when you have a relatively fit squad. It goes without saying, there’s going to be some disappointed players. "Anyone who is currently not in the side, or not on the bench, has to knuckle down and make sure that they’re ready for their next chance. In that way, we keep a level of competitive edge to the squad. I always feel that the best motivation for players is for them to earn and then keep their place. “That’s something that again, this game will represent at least one player a chance to earn their place, because of Robert Huth being cup tied. That means that there will be at least one change.” Read more at http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/striker-returns-to-training-2269368.aspx#CV3uqYF1lxFwTtAI.99
st albans fox Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 I wonder what type of team they will play Coach may be instructed to protect their most important players ?? Lambert would want to do as he wanted but the stand in will do as the chief exec instructs. More likely to rest their best players for fear of an injury or a red card.
SecretPro Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 As much as I'd love to play Albrighton, I couldn't justify dropping Schlupp after the Arsenal game. Watching Schlupp, Kramaric and Mahrez (and Cambiasso) against Arsenal has probably been the highlight of the season for me, genuinely. At time it was nothing short of ****ing sublime. Just wish it had been that way from the start
Gazza M Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 I think the formation against Arsenal was good for us. We need to continue with it even though Villa are poor as it still offers us creativity but we seem more solid defensively with 3 centre halves. It is also good practice for tougher prem away days to come. Assuming Upson is still carrying a knock from Tuesday, I would go: Schwarzer, Moore, Waz, Morgan, Konch, Simpson, Cambiasso, James, Schlupp, Marhez, Kramaric.
SpacedX Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 No need to play three centre halves against Villa...no benefit. Hamer De laet Moore Waz Schlupp (it works) Hammond Cambiasso Albrighton Mahrez (Trust me on this) Ulloa Krameric
sylofox Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 No need to play three centre halves against Villa...no benefit. Hamer De laet Moore Waz Schlupp (it works) Hammond Cambiasso Albrighton Mahrez (Trust me on this) Ulloa Krameric I think you may be right, and baring any injuries the team we put out Sunday will be the strongest we have put out this season. I think nige will use this game and the team will be the blue print for the rest of the season if we win. Sorry not Moore Huth will start in the league.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 No need to play three centre halves against Villa...no benefit. Hamer De laet Moore Waz Schlupp (it works) Hammond Cambiasso Albrighton Mahrez (Trust me on this) Ulloa Krameric Don't know mate, you sure about Mahrez? Big call.
SpacedX Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 Don't know mate, you sure about Mahrez? Big call. No...but he's more than capable of doing it and I'm thinking Albrighton could destroy his old club from the right. Algeria like to play Ryad up the left and could cause problems for Villa who after Tuesday will definitely be trying to neutralise the threat on the right while Clarke will hopefully have his hands tied with Krameric. Only flaw being that RB Alan Hutton was in my opinion one of their best players in both encounters this season. Need to get decent service to Ulloa who we know likes to get on the end of a quality cross. I also think that Krameric can play off Leo to a certain extent. A well marshalled back four can continue to spring the offside trap on Benteke.
