Paul Gallagher interview in The Sunday Times

A great reminder that there are things more important than football.

While Gallagher hasn't fitted in our plans for quite some time, it's not his fault we offered him the contract we did under Sven. Fans might feel frustrated that Gally is still lifting a large salary from us, but there's little justification in ostracising him for that.

i said when we were promoted that we were missing someone who had the vision and the passing ability and dead ball skills to link the 2 strikers and midfeild and i still think gally would have done the job instead of nuge

Plenty of player performance threads on this forum for you to pass comment on players ability

this is a story about a young man and his life and coping with massive tragedy

Grow up

He was mocking the general opinion of idiots on Foxestalk at the time re.Gally. Not being serious at all. Clearer?

Well this interview shatters a lot of misconceptions about Gallagher being a money grabbing, self-centred twat and Pearson being too arrogant to care about his players. We've heard plenty about how much respect the players have for Pearson, it's beginning to become clear why he hasn't lost the dressing room.

This piece gave me food for thought , seriously Pearson maybe needs a new assistant to coach at this level m because any Man that can get that much respect from a player on fringes is quite something else ...

The language post match towards players and the manager has been downright disgusting. They will be a few what read the likes of Twitter tonight and think 'why do I want to please these miserable feckers'. And let's remember we have the players until May now.

Place it in context, I can't take not good enough, I can't take the insults throw at them when they were everyone's hero a year ago.

Always liked Gally, and this just reinforces my opinion of him. A good player, better than many we've had before and since.

Well it doesn't really. There were still the Tweets that he sent rubbing how much he was earning for doing nothing in people's faces.

It's amazing how Gallagher coming out and saying a few nice things about Pearson and telling us something we already knew (about his still born child) can change so many people's opinions and it's all "well he wasn't that bad really" and "actually, I always quite liked him".

I genuinely never really disliked Gallagher as much as most. I always thought that technically he was our best player but one who never really had a position, not prolific enough to be a striker and not quick enough or good enough defensively to be a winger. That said, he showed a lack of bottle at times and an unwillingness to dig in at times when we needed him to. He was given an excellent contract for himself and has (rightly or wrongly) been unwilling to even think about giving that up despite not being anywhere near earning what he's being paid.

Interesting that he holds Pearson in such high regard despite being cast aside by him, a nice insight into Pearson's man-management but not something that makes me think of Paul Gallagher any differently to before and I'll still be glad when his contract's finished and he's history.

It's an article which reflects very well on Gallagher and, on a personal level, Pearson. However I have to say that, in spite of my sympathy for his loss, I've worked with various women who have suffered either miscarriages or the loss of children, and they've never been given months off on compassionate grounds. In fact, they've always been back at work within a couple of weeks.

That's not to say it wasn't a very honourable thing for Pearson to do. Just that we should bear in mind that people don't normally, in fact footballers don't normally get looked after to that extent.

I don't care what anyone says, He was a decent player for us.

shame it didn't work out, people have a real personal vendetta against him, like they would turn down his contract?

Always been a fan of his even when things seemed to turn sour for him here. Technically a fantastic player.

Commentators are questioning why we loaned him out, keown stating that although hes not a runner he has that quality on the ball you need in the premier league, something leicester have lacked.

We lack football, let alone any other attributes....
