Villa 2 - 1 Leicester - Post Match Thread

Myself I would have taken Konchesky off moved Schlupp to left wing back and put Kramaric in the 2 playing behind Ulloa with Mahrez and kept the 5 at the back. People ask for 442 and he changes it and we concede what more do they want? He took a centre back off. You may not agree with which 1 he took off but Morgan is his captain and the likelihood is we still would have conceded that goal because Bacuna found a pocket of space that wasn't there when we had 3 centre backs.

That would have just meant kramaric playing from the left. We had to regain some sort on control in the midfield so I would personally have brought a centre mid on, was it Drinkwater or king?, and attempt to get hold of the ball before then bringing on the extra striker.

On the plus side it looks like if you give Kramaric a half chance he'll more often than not take it. We have to play Nugent up front with him from Everton onwards and give him service.

Shame he wont be with us next season after we`ve been relegated!

Fans begging for Nigel to change it to a 442. We change and concede. "Oh well done Nigel you ****ing idiot, blah blah blah". You got what you wanted you BinHead. But again. Leicester Fan Logic

No, Pearson was the one who changed it, so you are calling him a "Binhead"

No fight. Schwarzer shite. To top it off our manager doesn't know the concept of substitutions. Konch, James and Kram only ones with half decent performances as well as Ulloa when he came on. Cambiasso was absolutely shocking today and I'm usually a defender of his

He took Morgan off against Arsenal so it shows he's not untouchable. We still would have conceded that first goal with Wasilewski on the pitch instead of Morgan, Bacuna found space where before the change we would have had the right sided centre back. That's the risk you take when you go 442 and try to win the game. People were asking Pearson to go 442 and he did and conceded, clearly damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Only because he`d already dropped Was to the bench before the game, and after bringing him on for Upson, it would have been a bit embarrassing to then take him off again.!

If Was had started the Arsenal game, he would have been the one that was subbed not Morgan.

Such a disappointment, losing against an extremely poor Villa side, and with it the potential of a wembley appearance at the very least.

Where do i start!

I had a feeling he would stick with 5 at the back, after Arsenal, but there are some games when you can afford to be braver and more on the front foot, and take the game to the opposition, and today was one of those games.

Also where was the urgency, and the go forward tempo to our game.

At Arsenal we broke at pace, today we stopped turned, and played the ball backwards and sidewards far too often.

Why the hell he took Was off, ahead of Calamity Morgan, just belies belief!

Was has looked our best defender for weeks, while Morgan has been like an accident waiting to happen, and understandably looks short off confidence, and what Albrighton has got to do to get on the pitch, god only knows!

To be fair neither Schlupp or Mahrez were very good today, and he could, (should) have brought Albrighton on for one of them.

I thought James had a decent game, but Cambiasso, apart from the odd flash, was poor in my opinion,

As for Schwarzer, that`s three goals he could take some blame for now, and when we consider that Hamer had actually done nothing wrong, and was dropped, i think this is yet another thing Pearson has got badly wrong.

Today was played out on national tv, and i thought we were embarrassingly poor.

Should Pearson go?

Well i`ve said before he should have gone before christmas, and that it`s all to late now anyway, but now i`ve finally had enough, and we should get rid, and bring someone in, who will then have a few weeks to work with the players, work on the way he wants them to play next season, and to see which players want to be a part of that.

Agree with all of this except the cambisso comment he was not at his best but still played a few excellent forward passes and at least talked to the rest of the team. If nigel does manage to kept his job then Cambo should take the armband from Wes

I was enjoying the game and having a laugh with some other blokes untill the willy puller on row g got the stewards to make us all sit down which completely ruined the atmosphere around us then we went 2 down and they all fvcked off. Moaning twat.

"The first 15 minutes, I don't think we were very fluent with the ball but after that we did pretty well. In the second half, we just could not keep hold of the ball, it kept coming back at us.

"The reason we are having a frustrating season is because we don't reproduce performances. All but one player was in the side who started against Arsenal, which was a good performance, and for today we did not do well enough for long periods.

"We have to make sure our performances are more consistent. That is what is more annoying. Players, when they are in the side, have to make sure they produce performances that make it difficult to make changes."

Not enough effort. Two poor teams, maybe us slightly better, but Villa showed the desire to win the match in the second half.

Positives:

Thought the 5 man defence looked tidy.

Kramaric scores.

Schlupp had a good match throughout and looks to have a decent understanding with players round him.

Negatives:

Out of the FA cup.

Schwarzer awful, horrible decision by Pearson to put him in front of Hamer.

Simpson and Mahrez shocking individually and collectively.

Loss could affect team morale.

First half good. Second half unacceptable. We weren't outplayed but outworked. Some of our players couldn't be arsed and Pearson by failing to recognise this and make substitutions condemned us to defeat in a prestigious competition I feel we had a genuine outside chance of winning.

He took Morgan off against Arsenal so it shows he's not untouchable.

yes, he took Morgan off once in the season, and still puts him in a starting eleven despite all his blunders. Totally not untouchable. Meanwhile Wasyl, who works his arse off and is one of our best and most consistent defensive players gets benched without no reason. Very unfair, sends shitty message and weakens us on the pitch. A shitty decision.

We still would have conceded that first goal with Wasilewski on the pitch instead of Morgan, Bacuna found space where before the change we would have had the right sided centre back. With our defence working properly there should be no tunnel whatsoever. And one might think, that leaving the better centre half on the pitch lessens the chances of creating any danger, like said tunnel. In your opinion there is no diff in leaving a strong player or a donkey on the pitch. Now, that's some logic!

I thought Ulloa was pretty woeful as well - his inability to exercise any sort of close control is getting worse and broke up a number of late attacks  -  as the saying used to go "he couldn't trap a bag of cement"

Posted

At least Konch, Mahrez and Schlupp looked like they were trying. WTF is Morgan doing?

What game were you watching..............Mahrez and Schlupp were carried the whole game, did nothing going forward and nothing tackling back, we cant afford to carry any player. Embarrassing how after performances like that, these so called Prem players have think they have earned there weeks wages

Why would you keep Pearson?

He's clearly learnt nothing as the season has progressed. He's another Warnock, good Championship manager, awful Premier one with no idea of tactics.

Anybody else would have replaced Schlupp or Mahrez with Albrighton.

Anyone else would have stopped playing Simpson ages ago.

Anybody else would have taken Morgan off and not was.

Anybody else would have signed a left back, almost any left back.

I'm not defending any of those decisions. I'm questioning the logic and intelligence of those that are saying sack him with no better alternative. It's a ****ing stupid suggestion and literally none of you calling for his head can offer anything.

I would keep him because even if we do go down I think he is capable of getting us back up again and I don't think he's reached his ceiling. We showed at the start of the season we can play good football and I think we can do so again.

He is clearly backed and liked by a lot of players and non playing staff and he has done some great things for the club.

Until someone can give me a good and realistic answer to the question 'Who would you replace him with?' I'm sticking to my guns and I'll judge everyone that says "just get anyone in" as a complete moron.

What a boring performance. Why does the quality of our opposition mirror our performance, crap opposition like Villa = crap performance. Absolutely sick to death of it!

dammaged coaching today, there was a chance to do something in this fa cup. what a chance wasted. a lot of hoofing, attacking players were not to blame, they had any ball to play and the sub was too risky for nothing, it was 0-0.

verry upset

i still beleive in a survival in the PL tho

I have to agree, there is no one out there to replace him now..................BUT to keep him next season would be a mistake IMO................... if he gets us promotion we will be in the same postion again, I don't think he would get us promoted next season, again IMO.

Time for a change and new style of play, the players are too comfortable, he picks his favourites, time for a change next season,  it is too late for this season...........new manager next season please

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson:

"The first 15 minutes, I don't think we were very fluent with the ball but after that we did pretty well. In the second half, we just could not keep hold of the ball, it kept coming back at us.

Time he started doing something about it then, it's what he's paid to do.
