Villa 2 - 1 Leicester - Post Match Thread

As abject a performance as that was, the only player to come out with any real credit was Kramaric. The lad never stops running, he never got disheartened and never shied away from getting the ball and trying to make things happen.

Schlupp and Mahrez, our best players this season looked like they were told to forget this game, I cannot for the life of me understand why they didn't attack from the off with a positive mentality, it looked like they were told to almost play wing back, supporting full backs, it was ridiculous. We needed them at the other end of the pitch making things happen. You could see why Kramaric was doing a Rooney and picking the ball up left right and centre because there was sure as hell nobody else doing it.

It isn't change for the sake of it, he's been shown up as being tactically useless.

I'd get Lennon in tomorrow.

I don't think we'll get promoted, we need 5 new players at the back, we'll lose Hamer, Albrighton, Cambiasso, Kramaric, Mahrez and perhaps James.

Who does that leave to get us promoted?

I guess we just disagree on a fundamental level then if you'd be happy with Lennon? Nothing at Bolton and a cakewalk at Celtic. Never shown any hint of ambitious football that I can recall.

I don't see why we'd necessarily lose Albrighton and James either.

That was truly horrible. Villa didn't look good and were there for the taking. We should have had a pen first half when Kram was pushed in the box, that would have changed the match, I don't think that the formation would have been changed second half.

It's exasperating that players can turn in decent performances one game and appalling ones the next. There has been a lot of slating of NP today with some justification, however if the players are that inconsistent I don't know how he can effectively prepare for a match.

So because your opinion differs from others that gives you the right to throw around insults like a semi developed neanderthal? Learn some manners man were you brought up or dragged up?

None of you can have a discussion or give anyone a straight answer. These people are either wrong or thick.

To be fair a couple have stopped just spouting PERSON OUT, GET ANYONE ELSE IN now but there's still too many lacking upstairs that can't articulate their thoughts and have an actual discussion.

Seems they (you) understand plain insults a bit better.

What a poor game!

Gotta say, once again we made a poor Villa look good!

Sat back way to much and invited pressure.

1- why play Kramaric up front on his own? Kramaric is light weight, all encounters with Villa this season have been physical.

2- why only 1 sub? We was tying out for more options up front in the last 5/10 mins, he has King, Vardy & Albrighton all sitting on the bench unused.

3- Wingers we've very ineffective, Schlupp was marked out the game by Hutton and Mahrez look pissed off/tired

4- why play so deep against a team who only scored about 12 goals all season?

5- why even in the last 5 mins were we still messing around at the back/failing to get the ball into the box?

6- why is Schwarzer still in goal? I guess our luck had ran out from the Spurs game when Vorm let Schlupps goal in (pretty much like Sinclairs goal today) but Hamer was seen as 3rd choice because his distribution was poor- Schwarzers was terrible today, this is probably why he was only choosing to throw out to Konch or Simpson. Hamer kept clean sheets and made some great saves, Schwarzer has made errors in every game he has played, his ariel dominance is poor and is slow to get of his line.

7- if we are now playing with wing backs why are we playing Simpson? RDL supports the attack a lot better and doesn't force silly/unnecessary fouls/yellow cards

All and all we were poor today! I don't mind losing if I feel that we gave a good game and challenged for the win, there's alot of events today that doesn't make sense which is frustrating for fans to have to watch.

I think the players appreciation to the fans was very poor aswell

He took Morgan off against Arsenal so it shows he's not untouchable. We still would have conceded that first goal with Wasilewski on the pitch instead of Morgan, Bacuna found space where before the change we would have had the right sided centre back. That's the risk you take when you go 442 and try to win the game. People were asking Pearson to go 442 and he did and conceded, clearly damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Who? Who was asking him to go 442 that he would have listened to? FT comments? Fans in the ground? TV pundits?

Pearson maintains that he is his own man and does not listen to what "advice" is given by people outside the club.

He wanted to win the game at Villa and was naïve in this respect by going 442. He could have stayed 531, Bacuna would have been substituted and as likely as not we would have got the draw and brought  Villa back here, which would have been a far better prospect that changing formation and trying to win after 65 mins of frustrating negativity.

Having gone 442 he should AT LEAST have played Albrighton.

I thought he was our man of the match, amazed by the number on here slating him.

The only thing Schlupp did all game was cross the ball for our goal. I thing in 90 minutes, awful

Not enough to earn his salary or stay in the team, show no fight , ambition, passion, just goes throught he motions

Could have been so different as well - how the fvck did Given save that James shot? I was practically celebrating the second he kicked it.

Well that was shit, can't think of a player who had a good game. and they were nothing special.

Absolute embarrassment that. Poor team selection and the players, or at least some of them, didn't even look bothered. My belief, what was left of it, has totally evaporated now. We were poor.

You couldn't be more wrong, I want to be involved in an adult discussion not an exchange of childish insults with disrespectful people like yourself. Just because you disagree with somebody doesn't mean they are wrong and it certainly doesn't mean they are thick. I'm open to take on board valid points made by posters who have different opinions to what I have and it doesn't need to involve petty name calling because somebody says something you don't like. It's called free speech, respect it.

I thought Schlupp's first touch lost us possession far too many times today.

I thought Schlupp's passing frequently did the same.

I'd still rather for the 2nd half substitutions to go 442 we brought off Wes Morgan and Schlupp to introduce Albrighton on the right (swapping with Mahrez) and Ulloa

We looked stronger with Huth in the side.

If we have a hope of retaining possession in this league we must keep the current formation.

We were just so poor on the ball today, completely the opposite to Arsenal where we really used the ball well. :(

Can't afford another performance like that for the rest of the season if we harbour any hopes of survival.

Really feel sorry for all the traveling supporters. Should demand and be given a full refund. Worst cup game I have watched all season. We looked like a Division 1 club at best

..shocking

Villa were poor, they got lucky with Schwarzer's mistake and Given made a couple of glorious stops.

We looked ok when we strung a few passes together but it was laughable how many times we just gave the ball away.

Pearson made a gamble with the substitution but it backfired.

Move onto the next one and do it all again.

Schlupp was back to his best. Shit.

lol lol lol

Schlupp has been fantastic as of late. But not today.

Let's not beat around the bush here, that was horrific to watch.

Just when we look like showing signs of improvement at Arsenal we put on a performance like THAT. Honestly, where do you start with assessing it?

A televised game against one of your relegation rivals in a game where you're realistically in touching distance of Wembley and you've got the chance to give the fans a much needed boost going into these final games and that is what they have to offer? Flat, slow, hopeless football with no real signs of looking like even wanting to win it or even looking like keeping the ball for more than 3 or 4 passes if we're being generous.

Mahrez, Schlupp, Cambiasso.. non existent. They're the key players to us having any chance of winning games.

Was, arguably our only consistent player being subbed over Morgan AGAIN.

I found it that unbearable I didn't even flinch when Kram scored. If anything it made me angrier, more frustrated. That's where he should have been from the off, not looking for the ball from deep.

As for Simpson with that needless foul at the end when we're chasing the game! The frustration levels peaked to a maximum. I could happily have put my Mum's coffee table through her window and not felt guilty.

That was pathetic today, absolutely pathetic. It doesn't do anything to suggest we have any chance of staying up whatsoever.

Credit to those who went, we/they deserve much, much better.

I had perfect view of it, soon as it left James' I could see it was going straight in top corner, amazing save!
